Chapter 2 - Family Affair

The Oberio family was one of the most respected and wealthy families in the Indian community. They had built their fortune through shrewd business deals and strategic investments, and their name was synonymous with success. From real estate to finance, the Oberios had their fingers in every pie, and their influence was felt across the city.

At the helm of the family was Kavi's father, Suresh Oberoi, a self-made man who had built the family's empire from scratch. He was a businessman with a keen eye for opportunity, and his wife, Rukmini Oberoi, was a pillar of strength and elegance. Together, they had built a legacy that would be passed down to their children. They were known for their philanthropy and their support for arts.

Kavi's sister, Riya was the apple of their parents' eye. She was beautiful, intelligent, and kind, and the family had high hopes for her future. The idea of her marrying into a good family was not just a matter of love, but also of business and social standing.

The Chandra family on the other hand, was an old money family with a rich history. They had been around for generations, and their name was steeped in tradition and respect.

The family's patriarch, Veer Chandra, was a respected member of the community, and his wife, Nalini Chandra, was a woman of class and refinement. They were part of a long line of Chandras who had built and maintained the family's business empire over the years.

The Chandras were considered to be of a higher social status than the Oberois. They had a strong presence in the community, and their opinions carried significant weight.

The family's business interests were diverse and far-reaching, and they had a reputation for being innovative and forward-thinking. They were highly respected by their peers.

The Oberois were more eager to form an alliance with them through the marriage of Riya and Kiaan. The Chandras were not opposed to the idea, because the Oberios also has important roles they play in the world of the affluent.

Riya's face turned a deep shade of pink as Kiaan took her hand, his eyes locking onto hers with a warm smile. She felt a flutter in her chest as he squeezed her hand gently, his fingers intertwining with hers.

The two families beamed with happiness, their faces filled with joy and approval. "Why don't we give you two some privacy?" Rukmini Oberio suggested, her voice dripping with warmth. "You can take a walk in the garden or sit together for a bit."

Riya's blush deepened as Kiaan led her to a quiet corner of the room, his hand still holding hers. They sat down together, their faces inches apart, and Kiaan began to talk to her in a low, gentle voice.

Meanwhile, Kavi sat on the couch, feeling like an outsider in his own home. He didn't know what to do or where to look, so he decided to excuse himself. "I'll just go to my room to rest a bit," he said, trying to sound casual.

His parents looked at him in surprise, but his mother nodded understandingly her thoughts were he was tired. "Okay, dear. We'll call you when dinner is ready."

Kavi got up and walked out of the living room, feeling a mix of emotions. He would have been so happy for Riya if her groom wasn't the love of his life. He went to his room, closed the door behind him, and lay down on his bed, lost in thought.
