Chapter 411 - Standing Alone on High Ground

For some reason, Huo Yuhao noticed that Wang Qiu'er usually preferred to transform into her Three-Eyed Golden Ni form.

However, it must be said that the shrunk Three-Eyed Golden Ni looked like a large cat, quite adorable.

He reached out and scratched her chin, and Wang Qiu'er comfortably tilted her head back.

Petting the cat was a pleasure, and Huo Yuhao picked up his big cat, intending to return to his palace to review his biology.

"Master, there's someone outside named Jiang Nannan who wants to see you."

The maid's intervention temporarily spared Wang Qiu'er from Huo Yuhao's teasing.

  "Let her in."

Huo Yuhao didn't pay much attention. Perhaps it was the difference in cultivation and status; over the past year, Jiang Nannan, Xiao Xiao, and other former friends had kept their distance from him.

Standing alone on high ground, Huo Yuhao didn't feign any attempt to get closer, as that would only make both sides more uncomfortable.

Soon, Huo Yuhao saw Jiang Nannan walk in cautiously.

"This is my home, no need for so many formalities." Huo Yuhao was nonchalant; he usually had to maintain a serious expression outside, but at home, he naturally wanted to be as comfortable as possible.

"Xiaoya, is she alright?" As she spoke, Jiang Nannan stared intently at Huo Yuhao, paying close attention to his expression.

Huo Yuhao's hand, which was stroking his golden retriever, stiffened slightly. "You guessed it?"

Jiang Nannan nodded silently, saying, "I inquired, and no one saw her being killed, nor was there a body. It's as if she vanished into thin air."

"You're quite concerned!" Huo Yuhao was somewhat surprised that Jiang Nannan was so concerned about Tang Ya's situation.

Jiang Nannan hesitated for a moment, then said, "I want to go see her."

Huo Yuhao shook his head slightly, "No, don't disturb her life."

Jiang Nannan insisted, "I'll just take a look from afar."

  ...

After a moment of silence, under Jiang Nannan's expectant gaze, Huo Yuhao gently waved his hand.

Immediately afterward, profound spatial power enveloped Jiang Nannan, instantly transporting her away from the courtyard.

"Aren't you coming with me?" Wang Qiu'er asked.

Huo Yuhao rubbed her head and said, "What's the point of seeing me? We can't go back to the way things were. This is the best state for us right now.

I don't like controlling other people's lives, but people often end up becoming the very thing they hate most."

Wang Qiu'er sensed his low spirits and rubbed her fluffy head against Huo Yuhao's cheek.

On the other side, Jiang Nannan felt a sudden dizziness, and the scene before her eyes abruptly changed. Before she could figure out where she was, she heard the conversation of the people next to her.

"Uncle, you just caught a cold. I'll prescribe some medicine for you. Take it home and decoct it morning and night. You'll be cured in two days."

"Thank you, thank you, Dr. Ya Tang..."

The patient was about sixty years old, while the female doctor sitting opposite her looked very young, only about twenty.

Jiang Nannan's gaze was fixed on the female doctor, who was busy with her work and didn't notice that someone was observing her.

Looking around, well, there's almost nothing there. In some places, clinics and pharmacies are separate. Clinics see patients and write prescriptions, and then patients take the prescriptions to the pharmacy to get the medicine.

This method seems cumbersome, but it's actually a beneficial measure for the people, and it also demonstrates the integrity of doctors.

Sending patients to other places to get medicine naturally means less money is earned. But then again, how could a respectable place treat medicine as a business?

"Uncle, here's the prescription, please take it."

Just as Ya Tang saw the uncle off, an older woman with her child approached her...

Meanwhile, Jiang Nannan, like the other patients, found a seat and sat down, observing Ya Tang's actions discreetly.

She hadn't expected Tang Ya to know medicine, but since medicine and poison have always been intertwined, it made sense.

Healing the sick and saving lives was better than poisoning people. In that sense, the Tang Clan's skills were being used for good.

It wasn't until noon, when the shop was empty, that Ya Tang finally approached her: "Sister, I've seen you sitting here for a long time. Is there something you can't say?"

  Jiang Nannan: "..."

What did that mean? It felt like there was something implying.

Sure enough, her memory was faulty—no, no, someone had tampered with it.

After observing, Jiang Nannan noticed that everyone here called Tang Ya "Ya Tang," and Tang Ya's gaze towards her was unfamiliar.

After a few perfunctory words, Jiang Nannan left the clinic while Tang Ya looked on in bewilderment.

She didn't acknowledge Tang Ya; as Huo Yuhao had said, the current situation was the best course of action.

Blue skies and white clouds, bright sunshine, bustling streets teeming with people like a long dragon.

But Zhang Lexuan, amidst this commotion, felt utterly out of place. The successive blows made her feel that her life was a joke.

The people she considered family and elders were actually her greatest enemies; for decades, she had lived under a lie.

Even more ridiculous was that she had fallen in love with the descendant of her enemy.

Thinking of all this, Zhang Lexuan felt a deep self-mockery.

She walked slowly down the street, not knowing where to go, without any purpose, as still as a stagnant pool, like a walking corpse.

Huo Yuhao watched her dejected figure from afar, and couldn't help but sigh. Compared to Zhang Lexuan, he felt fortunate.

Can you imagine that your adoptive father is actually the murderer of your biological parents?

Mu En's viciousness refreshed Huo Yuhao's understanding of the lowest limits of humanity.

"Why don't you go comfort her?" The golden retriever Qiu'er tilted her head and perched on Huo Yuhao's shoulder, looking adorably silly.

Huo Yuhao shook his head slightly and said, "She'll get through this. Time heals all wounds." After saying that, he stepped into the air and flew away.

A few breaths later, Huo Yuhao descended into the Star Dou Great Forest, to the Lake of Life.

Di Tian came to greet him and saw the auspicious beast perched on this person's shoulder like a big cat. His eyelids couldn't help but twitch.

Please, you're an auspicious beast, a Soul Beast Emperor! Can't you have some of the domineering aura of a king?

Huo Yuhao didn't wait for him to say anything and said first, "I have something to talk to Gu Yuena about. You come with me."

Although Di Tian didn't understand, he was too lazy to think about it. The three of them entered the underground space of the Lake of Life together.

Upon seeing Gu Yuena again, Huo Yuhao's gaze was drawn to the dragon egg beside her. The eggshell, resembling a giant agate rock, emanated a rich aura of fire element.

As expected of someone with the Dragon King's bloodline, even before birth, Huo Yuhao could sense the immense power of the life within.

This little guy, once born, would likely be close to a Title Douluo; ordinary people wouldn't even be able to get close to it.
