Evelyn stared at the huge exquisite palace in awe as she thought about how beautifully decorated and serene it was.
"So pretty.." she said, as a small grin appears in her mouth.
Suddenly, a person of the palace spotted her and quickly went to shoo her. "Hey! You, yes you!" Shouted the person. It seemed to be the lady of the palace. She looked and pointed at Evelyn with a expression of disgust.
"How dare a commoner set foot in front of the palace? Do you not know whose palace you're staring at?" She said. "Oh, sorry... I was just looking at how-" Evelyn was interrupted before finishing her sentence.
"No no, you don't need to explain. I know you're here to steal!" The lady said as she glared at Evelyn.
Evelyn simply nodded, then went away. The lady, satisfied with herself, laughed at her. Then went back to the palace.
"So rude... If only I was a noble. If I were a noble, I wouldn't be so mean. But I'm just a commoner.." She said, as she walked away from the palace.
Just as she arrived at her village, she spotted a group of people. It seemed like they were distributing food to the people. "Such a kind hearted people.." she thought, as she approached them.
"Um...excuse me?" She asked politely. "Can I have some food too?" She asked. "Yes, of course!" One of them said then gave her some food.
The people seemed to be quite friendly, that made Evelyn smile warmly. She found out that the people were from a guild that helped commoners. By the time the nobles were gone, it was already night time. She walked around the city, then entered a library made for commoners.
There weren't many books that were interesting, there were only picture books because most commoners were uneducated. As she looked around, something caught her eye. It was a book in the corner of the shelf.
She took it out and looked at the cover. The cover was black and it didn't seem to have a title or anything. She opened the book to find out that it was a biography of a person who slayed a dragon and saved the country.
It was a picture book, which had the pictures of the person and how he slayed the dragon. She found out that he also was a commoner, who by chance, had a huge talent for magic and became a mage, thus claiming his noble status.
She was amazed to see how a commoner had become a noble as a reward for doing a great deed for his country. "If he can become a commoner, then why can't I?" She said, then kept the book back at the shelf. That day, she decided that she'd become a noble, no matter what.
