Chapter 45 - Steel and Grit

Location: Sector 7 Rooftop – 01:17 AM

The rain started falling in slow sheets.

You stood across from Grimm—towering, silent, eyes like molten metal.

His armor was an ugly fusion of man and machine—bolted muscles, gears flexing under skin grafts, steam rising from vents across his shoulders.

He didn't say much.

Just cracked his knuckles again… and charged.

BOOM.

The impact shook the rooftop.

You met him mid-rush, fists colliding like thunder. The shockwave blasted debris into the air. Concrete cracked under your feet.

But Grimm didn't slow. He grabbed you mid-strike and threw you—straight through a metal vent pipe.

You rolled, coughed, and got back up, fast.

"Is that it?" you barked.

Grimm smiled—barely. "Warming up."

He slammed his fists together, activating his Overdrive Core. You could hear it—a deep, mechanical hum rising from his spine.

He moved faster now—too fast for someone that size.

You dodged his next strike by inches, countered with a rising knee, and sent a shockwave punch to his side. Sparks flew. He staggered.

You didn't stop.

You slid under his swing, came up with a spinning elbow, then a brutal jab to his throat port. He grunted—first sound of pain.

But then—

His arm transformed.

Metal plates slid aside, revealing a collapsing energy hammer that roared to life.

"You break," he said, swinging it down.

You raised a barrier just in time—CRASH—but the force still sent you skidding backward, boots digging trenches in the rooftop.

Adrenaline spiked. You knew if that hammer hit clean, it was game over.

You had to outthink him.

You glanced at the rooftop layout—water tanks, a satellite node, broken solar panels.

Then you ran.

Grimm followed, laughing, his hammer dragging behind him like thunder.

You led him toward the satellite node—and when he swung again, you ducked and redirected it, smashing the node and sending a burst of EMP straight into his back.

His systems glitched.

Just long enough.

You surged forward, fists glowing, heart pounding. Three strikes to the chest—each one harder than the last—

And the fourth?

Right to the core.

His chestplate caved in. Sparks. Blood. Steam.

Grimm dropped to one knee, systems whining, eyes flickering.

You stood over him, breath heavy.

"This was your mistake," you growled.

And you raised your fist—

But stopped.

Because his lips twisted into a grin.

"You're too late. She's already surrounded."

Cut to: Lia, Kairo, and Ada

Nova stood bleeding, breathing hard—but still grinning.

And behind her… in the flickering smoke of the fight…

Two more figures stepped forward from the shadows.

Seris.

Jin.

Reinforcements.
