Chapter 6 - Chapter 5 — The Old Champion

Turin — Late afternoon, cloudy skies

Luca traveled alone. The road between Milan and Turin seemed longer than ever, winding through quiet hills and towns where no one dared ask questions.

The envelope of evidence was hidden in his bag. But that's not what he was after now. He needed voice. Witness. Memory.

A name kept coming up like an echo: Emilio Lanza. A former racing legend from the 1940s, now retired — or exiled — in silence. A man who, according to whispers, had seen too much and spoken too little.

Luca arrived at the address with the evening light glinting off wet cobblestones. A modest, crumbling building with the scent of cheap wine and damp laundry.

He climbed the stairs slowly. Knocked on the door of the third floor. A raspy voice replied:

"It's open."

Inside, the air was thick. Walls lined with yellowed newspaper clippings, dusty trophies, empty bottles. And in the corner, slouched in a worn-out armchair, sat the man himself.

Emilio Lanza.

White hair, sunken eyes, fingers stained by nicotine. He studied Luca like a mechanic watching an engine about to fail.

"Ferretti, right? The ghost hunter."

"And you must be the oldest ghost in town."

Lanza gave a tired half-smile.

"I saw what they did to Alessio. And I saw what they did to me, long ago. But in my time, no reporters dared to care."

Luca sat down without being asked.

"Are you ready to talk?"

"I'm too old to keep things in, and older still to be afraid. But know this: if you keep going, they'll bury you without a name on the stone."

"They've already tried to warn me."

Lanza handed him a box. Inside — photos, letters, clippings. Among them: names. Officials. Judges. Team owners. Federation agents. All connected.

"This," Lanza said, "is what's left of what I know. Use it. But understand — the price of truth is steep. And sometimes… no one gets the reward."

Luca held the box like it was wired to explode.

He had found what he was looking for.

And now, there was no turning back.

If you're ready to see Luca and Emilio expose the truth — names and all — drop a Power Stone to show that silence won't win.
