Stepping out of the principal's office,David let out a long sigh.
How did he feel inside? Honestly… kinda touched.
Old Dean might have a sharp tongue, but he's soft-hearted. He's always looked out for him like a true mentor.
"Don't worry, Old Dean. I swear I won't let you down. I'll become a world-famous director one day."
David grinned.
"Otherwise, what's the point of being a time traveler, right?"
He had crossed over from Earth to Blue Star, and from a newborn to now, twenty years had flown by.
And David had chosen the entertainment industry…
To be a nobody?
Then why bother transmigrating in the first place?!
Just as he left the admin building, he got a call. Not long after, a small car pulled up in front of him.
"Sorry for the wait, hubby!"
The window rolled down, revealing the fresh yet seductive face of Linda.
David opened the door and got into the passenger seat.
"I've told you like a million times—stop calling me hubby in public. We're just boyfriend and girlfriend, okay?"
"Got it, hubby~"
Linda started the car, totally playing the I heard you but I'm still doing it card. "What do you wanna eat, hubby?"
David gritted his teeth. "…Let's hit the hotel first."
"Ehehe~"
Linda giggled, her whole body practically jiggling. The sight made David's chest feel warm and fuzzy.
"Don't rush it~ Let's eat first, then go on a little date with me after."
David fastened his seatbelt. "You're unusually into it today for such an old couple like us."
"Old couple, my ass! We've only been together a year! You get sick of me, and I swear I'll cut it off!"
David felt a chill between his legs. "Don't mess around. You'll only regret it."
Linda burst out laughing. "I'm leaving tomorrow. I got a part in Guardians of the Galaxy, playing Mary."
Unlike Central Academy of Drama, University of Southern California wasn't too strict about students taking on acting gigs while in school.
In this industry, it's all about catching the right opportunity. If you get a chance, you take it—simple as that.
Linda came from a good family. She could afford a car, which already put her way ahead of most students.
Right now, she had dreams—about both acting and love.
So when the opportunity came knocking, she asked for leave and got ready to join the crew.
David chuckled. "See, this is why we're a match made in heaven. Total synchronicity. I'm leaving tomorrow too."
"Where to?"
"Old Dean pulled some strings—got me a spot as assistant director on Crimson Tide first. I'll get some creds, then come back and raise funds to shoot my own film."
"Must be nice having connections… Us small-time actors still have to claw our way up."
Linda threw him a flirty look. "Director David, don't forget about me in your movie, okay? You promised me a role."
"Sure. I'll even give you a crash course tonight."
"Thanks, Director~"
"Aw, no need to be so formal."
They looked at each other and laughed.
Linda admired David, but never felt jealous. He was her boyfriend after all, and she was genuinely happy for him.
Besides, he was a director, she was an actress.Totally different lanes.
If David made it big, maybe he'd pull her up with him. Nothing to be jealous of.
Geniuses always get a few perks.
"I remember that script of yours—Lost on Journey, right? Doesn't seem like it needs a huge budget."
As his girlfriend, Linda had already read his script. The story was amazing.
That's why she wanted in—just a small part would be enough to boost her status.
TV and film actors were on totally different levels in this industry.
Right now she was only getting minor roles on TV. But if she could snag even a supporting role in David's film?
It'd be a huge step up.
And if the movie blew up, she could ride that wave and maybe even become a star.
"It's a low-budget film. Just needs a few million. The whole idea is high return with low investment."
David kept rubbing his fingers. "If you're really interested, I can give you an investment share."
Linda's eyes lit up. "Seriously?"
"Why would I lie to my own girlfriend?"
"You? Lying? Please—you could sweet-talk a rock. Who knows what's real with you?"
Linda rolled her eyes. "I'll think about it. You know a few million isn't exactly pocket change for me."
David nodded. "No rush. Let me know when you're ready."
"Why don't you ask your family for money? Your family's got a massive international company. You could spend whatever you want."
"Don't even start. What's the fun in using my family's money? I'm trying to make it with my talent."
David sighed. "Honestly, I regretted taking you home last time. My mom…"
"What happened?"
"She's baby-crazy. Keeps nagging me to give her a grandkid. I called her 'Granny' and she gave me the death glare."
"Pfffft!"
Linda burst into laughter again, body shaking. "I'm totally down to give you one. Just say the word."
"Don't joke around. I'm still young. Haven't even enjoyed the wild years yet."
Linda rolled her eyes again. "Wild years, my ass. All you do is sweet-talk and play broke."
"That's my tragic backstory, babe—gambling dad, alcoholic mom, sick little sister… and a broken soul."
Linda clenched her teeth. Back then, she totally fell for it—tears and all.
Only later did she realize it was all an act.
She seriously wanted to strangle him.
If she hadn't gotten lucky and been dragged home to play the role of "girlfriend" to stop his mom's nagging…
She wouldn't have found out this so-called "poor boy" was actually the heir to a mega corporation!
This guy was next-level sneaky!
"Tonight, you're mine. And if you even think about another woman, I swear I'll take you down with me!"
"Babe, what are you talking about? There's only you in my heart."
David looked at her with deep affection. "You're the love of my life."
Linda cursed herself for being weak, but couldn't help smiling.
She knew what kind of person he was, and still—he had her wrapped around his little finger.
"Hmph!"
Linda gave a tsundere snort, but her heart was bubbling with joy.
Shopping with a girl can be a nightmare—tiring and stressful. But David didn't complain once.
Wherever Linda went, he followed. Even gave her compliments now and then.
Emotional support? Off the charts.
"Linda? What a coincidence! You're out shopping too?"
A woman's voice suddenly chimed in. David looked over, and his eyes lit up.
It was George and Susan, the celebrity couple.
