Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4: She is Something

Morgan's POV

"You"? She finally spoke in a small voice, as if she could not believe her eyes.

I got closer, but the closer I was to her, the farther she shrank away from me.

Just then, Harry came in with a tray of food and placed it on the stool beside the bed. She eyed the food hungrily while her stomach grumbled noisily.

"Little one, I swear I am not going to hurt you.

"Why? Why did you let me go, then turn back and abduct me? Why am I here? She muttered weakly.

"You need to eat," I replied, ignoring her questions.

I grabbed the plate of food from the tray and got closer, trying to coax her to eat.

Without warning, she snatched the plate from my hand and hurled it across the room. The plate hit the wall and shattered, and all its contents flew everywhere.

Then she lunged.

For a moment, I was stunned. This little wolf was stronger and fiercer than I'd expected. Her grip tightened around my neck as she clawed at me, tiny hands scratching wildly. My wolf fought to stay in control while Harry moved to intervene, but I mind-linked him to stay put. I didn't want to hurt her until she sank her teeth into my ear.

Instinct took over. I flipped her off me, throwing her across the room. She crashed into the wall, hitting her head hard.

My heart constricted, and I felt a bolt of pain slash across my skull as she clutched onto the back of her head, letting out a piercing scream before she collapsed on the floor and lost consciousness.

Immediately her scream rang out, Harry dropped to the floor, holding his ears in his hands until her screams stopped.

When the sound finally stopped, he looked up at me, wild-eyed, like a trapped animal caught in a cage, as if he was trying to grapple with the gravity of what had just happened.

He was torn between checking out the damage the little one had done to me and helping her.

I ran to the little form on the floor and held her in my arms, Ragnar whimpering in my head.

"She is our mate" he began his earlier mantra.

"Shut the hell up" I screamed.

He whimpered and retreated to the back of my head and I didn't hear him anymore. I rolled my eyes and examined the damage I had done, my heart beating fast and the pain subsiding as I turned her over.

There was no physical wound but I knew she had hit her head.

"Fast, call me the doctor," I said to Harry who was already at the door by the time I was done speaking.

I picked her from the floor and cradled her to my chest, my heart beating fast for some weird reason.

A few moments later, she stirred in my arms and opened her eyes.

As soon as her eyes opened, and she saw my face, she recoiled from me and struggled to leave my arms, holding her head in her hands.

"Shhh…you're hurt" I tried to sound calm.

That's when I saw the tears, she began to cry so much that she shook in my arms.

I scooped her up and took her to bed. As soon as her head hit the pillow, she turned her back to me, shaking with sobs.

My heart felt like it was going to be ripped out of my chest seeing her in that state.

Then, out of nowhere, a surge of anger took over. "I command you to stop crying", I thundered in a voice that wasn't my own.

I was frustrated with all the conflicting emotions I was feeling at the time…anger, pain, disappointment at my lack of self-control.

I hated the way my heart was beating in my chest, as if I didn't have control over my own body.

Immediately, Harry went in with the doctor and another tray of food. I bolted out the door, mind-linking with him to take care of her and make sure she ate something, but I didn't leave.

I watched from the window, where no one could see, as Harry knelt on the bed and turned her over.

When she saw it was not me, she sat up and held her head in her hands. By that time, all I could feel was a dull ache in my head.

Instinctively, I held my head in my hands, mirroring her own. Something was going on between us.

Why did I feel her pain, and how had she woken up from her consciousness so fast?

She was a werewolf, but why didn't she feel our bond? Or was she pretending?

I stood there and watched as the pack doctor, Dr Remus, checked her vitals and nodded to Harry that everything was okay.

Harry in turn mind-linked to explain to me that the doctor said she was hale and hearty and didn't have any signs of concussion or distress.

I frowned. "That's not possible," I replied to Harry in my head.

We had both watched her hit her head on the wall before losing consciousness. Harry just ignored me and continued helping her.

Who was this she-wolf, and why did I feel so connected to her?

I watched as Harry placed the tray of food in front of her, grabbed the spoon, and held it out to her.

She hesitated for a second before taking it from him.

She pointed to the water and Harry immediately opened it for her, and she took a big gulp before handing it over to Harry.

Then she immediately delved into the big plate of barbecue chicken in front of her.

I watched with fascination as she began to eat with so much fervor.

She was literally gulping down the food while Harry sat beside her and watched her as if he was entranced with her.

Then Ragnar stirred, and his gaze was helplessly drawn to her carnal mouth as she chewed.

She grabbed the largest piece of the barbecue chicken and tore into it like she had not eaten in days.

Then she sucked the sauce from her thumb before reaching for another rib. She licked her lips, then her fingers.

Another weird image flashed through my mind.

Images of those lips around my member made my wolf growl inside my head.

I could feel my entire body clench as she sucked on the dribbles of the sauce from the tips of her fingers. What made the whole thing even more of a turn-on was that she clearly had no idea she was being watched by every male in the room.

She was innocently and unknowingly provocative.

Dear moon goddess, what have you done to me?
