Chapter 1 - The Descent.

The sky above cracked with lightning, splitting the heavens like a torn veil. A figure fell from the storm clouds, plummeting through the darkness, a streak of fire and shadow against the midnight sky. Wings once radiant and glorious had been reduced to tattered remnants, blackened by divine judgment. The fallen angel crashed into the earth with the force of a thousand sins, the impact shaking the nearby forest and sending birds screaming into the night.

The figure lay in the shallow crater for what felt like hours, face pressed against the cold earth, breath ragged. His name, once spoken with reverence in the celestial courts, was now a forbidden curse. He had defied the order of heaven, dared to challenge the will of the almighty—and for that, he had paid the price.

Slowly, he pushed himself up on trembling arms, feeling the sharp sting of pain. His once-glowing skin now felt coarse, his body heavy with the weight of mortality. He looked up at the sky, but the stars, his former brothers and sisters, refused to acknowledge him.

He was alone. He was forsaken.

In the distance, a faint light flickered through the trees, a lone cabin standing in the shadow of the forest. Drawn by the flicker of warmth in the cold night, the fallen angel dragged his broken body towards it, every step a reminder of the punishment that had been cast upon him.

Inside the cabin, Elara sat at her wooden table, sipping a cup of tea, trying to shake off the restless feeling that had gnawed at her all evening. Her life had been filled with quiet moments like these, surrounded by the soft hum of nature, far away from the bustling city she had left behind. But tonight felt different. There was a charge in the air, a strange energy that set her nerves on edge.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door—three slow, deliberate raps.

She froze, her heart skipping a beat. No one ever came out this far into the woods, especially not at this hour. Tentatively, she stood and approached the door, her hand hovering over the handle.

"Who's there?" she called, her voice trembling slightly.

Silence.

After a long pause, she unlocked the door and opened it, peering into the night. Standing in the doorway was a man—or something resembling one. His dark hair hung wet around his face, and his eyes, though dimmed, held a strange intensity. His clothes were torn, revealing skin covered in ash and scars, and behind him… she could barely make out the remnants of wings, skeletal and twisted.

Elara gasped and stepped back, but the man collapsed before her, his strength completely drained.

For a moment, she stood frozen in shock. This was no ordinary man, but something far more dangerous. Yet something in his broken, desperate state tugged at her. Against her better judgment, she knelt beside him, reaching out to touch his cold skin.

"Who are you?" she whispered, her heart pounding.

The fallen angel opened his eyes, locking onto hers. His voice, though weak, was laced with sorrow and defiance.

"I am damned," he rasped. "I have no name here."

Elara swallowed hard, torn between fear and a strange sense of pity. She didn't know who—or what—this man was, but leaving him to die felt wrong.

"I can help you," she said softly, though she wasn't sure how. She took his arm, struggling to lift him to his feet.

The fallen angel looked at her with a flicker of surprise, as if kindness was something long forgotten in his world. But he allowed her to help, leaning on her as they staggered into the warmth of the cabin.

As she laid him down on the couch and fetched bandages from her cabinet, a quiet thought crept into her mind: this man, this creature, was dangerous. But there was something else, too. Something about his presence that stirred the darkest parts of her soul.

As the storm raged outside, the fallen angel closed his eyes, lulled by the warmth of the fire. But even as sleep took him, he could not escape the haunting memory of his descent, nor the grim knowledge of what awaited him.

For there was no redemption for a fallen angel. Only vengeance, and the bitter taste of lost love.

And in that moment, though neither of them knew it, their fates had become intertwined in a way that would lead them down a path of blood, desire, and ruin.
