Chapter 2 - Mutated Bananas and Golden Coconuts

"Please, oh great heavens, bless me with something useful this time!"

Deep in the forest at the center of the deserted island, Lind stood in front of what looked like a banana tree—probably was a banana tree—muttering desperate prayers.

After mentally calling upon every god from his past life he could think of, Lind solemnly clasped his hands together, closed his eyes, and whispered:

"In the name of Lind, I awaken your sleeping potential."

"Gather the power of the cosmos, and bring forth a miracle!"

He slowly opened his eyes, lifting his hands upward as if begging the universe for strength.

Suddenly, Lind's eyes sharpened. He thrust his palms toward the tree and shouted:

"Lind Energy, Shara-shara—Transform!"

"Bear witness to the miracle! Embrace your rebirth!"

On this deserted island, Lind had fully embraced his inner cringe, reenacting the most dramatic middle school anime rituals he could remember.

Swallowing his embarrassment, he completed the mutation ceremony he'd spent a whole week perfecting.

Now he eagerly waited, eyes locked on the banana tree, straining to feel any changes.

"Looks like I was right... In this world, where belief and spirit matter, the ritual and the shouting actually do help bring out the Devil Fruit's power," Lind thought, smiling.

"And it was smart to pick a banana tree too. Zoan-type Devil Fruits kinda look like bananas. Mutating a banana tree was clearly the way to go."

A week had passed since he first ate the Mutation Fruit.

Over these seven days, Lind had done almost nothing but mutate and recover, mutate and recover—dozens of attempts.

And finally, today, he'd hit the jackpot.

The result? Incredibly plain and simple—an enhancement to physical strength.

So pure. So beautiful.

Even better, the effect was cumulative with repeated eating. Exactly what Lind needed right now.

Not only would it make him stronger, but it would boost his stamina too, speeding up his training and letting him mutate even more.

"Honestly... I prefer it this way," Lind thought, grinning like an idiot. "No weird animal transformations, just pure raw stats!"

After the stress of the past week, this success felt like an enormous weight lifted from his chest.

Without hesitation, he plucked a banana, peeled it, and bit in.

"Mmm... way better than regular bananas! And none of that nasty Devil Fruit aftertaste either!"

Still chewing, Lind couldn't help but mumble around a mouthful of fruit, "Weak effect? Who cares? I can eat as many as I want! Way better than most Devil Fruits!"

Feeling energized, he grabbed two more mutated bananas and trotted back to his beachside hut.

Even though he planned to lay low and train till he was invincible, Lind didn't want to be stuck on this lonely island forever.

That's why he set up camp by the sea—keeping an eye out for any passing ships.

Maybe someday, he'd hop a ride to civilization, start a farm, raise some animals, gather a few loyal followers... just like all those farming novel protagonists he'd read about.

After devouring two bananas, Lind patted his belly in disbelief.

"How are these bananas this filling? I can't even eat a third one!"

With energy buzzing inside him, he decided to burn it off with a run.

Surely a quick jog around the island wouldn't hurt—especially with his new and improved body.

Five laps later, after covering more than ten kilometers, Lind was only lightly flushed and breathing a little harder.

"Huh. Digestion complete. Ready for round two," he said, amazed.

In his old world, eating and then running ten kilometers would've been a one-way trip to the emergency room.

But here? With this new body and the magic bananas? Totally fine.

Maybe it was the bananas. Maybe it was just this world's naturally tougher humans. Either way, Lind wasn't complaining.

"Time for strength training!"

After scarfing down another banana, Lind jumped straight into a hardcore workout: push-ups, sit-ups, lifting giant boulders—old-school warrior style.

"HUFF—PUFF—"

"Seven thousand six hundred fifty-four...!"

"Seven thousand six hundred fifty-five...!"

There he was, squatting while lifting a whole tree trunk more than a meter wide.

Thanks to the mutated bananas and brutal training, Lind's physique had exploded in just three months.

Now standing a solid 6'1" (1.85 meters), his ripped upper body gleamed under the tropical sun.

"Nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine...!"

"Ten thousand...!"

THUD!

He tossed the massive tree aside like a boss and casually grabbed another banana.

Today's mission? Another round of island exploration.

"It's been three months, and still no new useful mutations," Lind grumbled, munching. "Only a few more decent bananas... this is tough."

"And those new banana saplings I planted? Not sure if the mutation's gonna pass down."

As he trekked into the island interior, he couldn't help complaining about how unpredictable the Mutation Fruit was.

Soon he arrived at his next target: a towering coconut tree—easily thirty meters tall.

Without missing a beat, Lind started the mutation ritual.

"In the name of Lind, awaken your hidden power..."

Of course, after three months, he knew the ritual was basically useless. Mutation was completely random.

But saying the magic words still made him feel better.

Suddenly, he saw it:

A golden glow!

"YES! Legendary drop!"

Before him stood a coconut tree shimmering gold, like something out of a dream.

"Holy crap, there's mental energy—or 'spirit energy'—in the One Piece world too?! This tree is INSANE!"

"Please don't turn me into some government science project."

Without hesitating, Lind scaled the golden tree, picked a few coconuts, and cracked them open with a casual swipe—no tools needed.

He drank one whole coconut in a single gulp.

Instantly, a powerful rush surged through his brain, pure ecstasy flooding his senses.

He devoured several more in quick succession.

Quantity triggered quality: something inside Lind's mind awoke—a new power blossoming.

After a few minutes, it stabilized.

Excited, Lind started experimenting.

"Up!"

"Move!"

A stone the size of his knee floated up, zipping back and forth in the air under Lind's control.

"HAHAHAHA! This is insane!" he roared, thrilled.

With his physical strength and now telekinesis (mental force), Lind could easily defeat any pirate without advanced Haki or a Logia Fruit.

He might still be a small fish compared to real monsters—but at least now he had real survival power.

"Come on already, where's my rescue boat?! I need a proper farm to unleash my farming student powers!"

Laughing like a madman, Lind waved enthusiastically toward the sea, desperate for a ship to spot him.

"Eh, let's check the beach. Today's a rest day anyway," Lind said.

Maybe he'd even find some decent seafood for dinner.

Sadly, he had hunted most of the island's seabirds into extinction, so now he survived mainly on seafood and fruit.

Still, today's discovery had lifted his spirits enough that he didn't care.

Grabbing a handmade bucket, Lind scoured the beach, collecting crabs and scallops.

Then he took a fishing rod and another bucket, heading toward a secret fishing spot.

Thanks to a lucky mutation, he now had bait that emitted a scent irresistible to fish.

Since then, he'd never gone hungry again.

In less than an hour, both buckets were overflowing.

Back at camp, Lind prepped his catch for dinner.

Cooking wasn't exactly his strong suit—he hadn't had much time to practice between working out and surviving.

His go-to recipe? Chaotic seafood stew.

Gut the fish, clean the shells, toss everything into a big pot.

Simple. Effective. Edible.

Fueled by island firewood and his DIY stone stove, the stew soon bubbled, sending delicious aromas through the air.

Sitting by the fire, Lind's thoughts drifted.

Three months of solitude had been productive—but man, humans were social creatures.

No games, no internet, no company... It was starting to wear on him.

"When is a ship gonna come?" he sighed. "Don't tell me I'll have to build one myself. I'm not Luffy, damn it!"

"Seafood and fruit every day... I'm gonna lose my mind!"

Grumbling, Lind slurped down a massive bowl of seafood soup, plotting his next steps—and dreaming of the day he'd finally escape this crazy island.
