Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"Hmm?"

I stared at the sign on my computer…

Official game? I thought. What is that?

I looked at the message over and over again and decided on a choice.

 "Yes"

A light gleamed from the computer. I closed my eyes, opened them and a gentle breeze passed me, the ground was pavement, the sun was warming my shoulders.

 "What is this-?"

"Oh guys look!" someone cut me off.

 "Finally, info from outside!"

People rushed to me asking all kinds of weird questions.

 "What year is it?"

 "Can we go home?"

 "Is the world over?"

 "What?"

I took a moment to think about this. What did they mean? Why do they want that kind of information?

"Leave the kid alone. It's clear the kid knows nothing about what is happening."

I looked behind me. And I saw an old man, probably 50. He had a short beard.

"W-what is this place?" I asked the man.

"... The Official Game. Or that's how they call it," responded the man.

I took a moment to think about what the man had just said. I had a lot of questions, but I organized my thoughts and asked:

"How do we get out of here?" That seemed like the most intelligent question.

"..."

The man took a stop and then said:

"There is one way; beat the game. Meaning get to floor 4"

The old man left. I saw him leave, then I went to level up.

My first guest was to kill 10 skeletons. When I went to the guest zone I saw a girl with probably 15, fighting skeletons. Her hair was long up to her hip, she had green eyes, her figure was graceful, exuding a natural confidence.

I was amazed. I stared for a while, her sword skills were honed to perfection.

After that, I went to level up.

"You want to buy this?" asked the shopkeeper.

"Yes," I said firmly.

"Ok, 10 gold"

"Sure."

Ping!

I left after buying this sword and went to do some guests: 15 orcs, 20 skeletons, and 30 bats…

Tak, tak

The sound of me walking on the pavement of the town was the only thing I could hear. I looked up to see the dark sky. It was hard to think this was just a game.

Tak, tak

I finally reached my destination, a home I could stay for the night.

The next morning…

I woke up and went to the cave where I was supposed to kill monsters.

Clank! Clank!

I stopped at the sounds. Who was making that noise?

I walked deeper into the cave until I saw what was making that noise. It was the girl fighting with her sword, surrounded by orcs.

This is bad! I thought I need to help her!

I took my sword out and swung.

 "Why did you save me?"

The girl and I were standing on the grass of the forest.

".... Because I want to save as many people as I can."

"... We are going to die anyway."

"There is still a chance that we won't."

 "... Ha-ha-ha-ha!"

 The girl burst into laughter.

"What is so funny?" I asked with a confused face.

 "Nothing, what's your name?"

 "Daiki, What's yours?"

 "Airi."

 "OK, want to team up?"

 "Sure."

"Let's meet tomorrow at 10 am"
