Click-click

The TV turns off "In this world everyone in the world is born with some talent and it comes from our soul essence aka astra and with that villains monsters arose most of the world's population is born with talent. Now sentinel became our heroes our warrior of justice champions of true. But.-"

The sound of plates hitting the floor coming from the kitchen as the boy with the Raven black hair rushes over " mom why are you out of bed in this condition? Do you know you're sick" " oh shush boy you should be heading to sleep you at school in the morning" " let me put you to bed first and then I'll go to sleep myself what did you want from the kitchen?" " you you don't need to be worrying about me so much ever since your father died you stressing too much." the boy let out of breath. " are you kidding me it's fine, Mom." " and you're worrying about the family name for reputation. We're dying out. We don't have any more badge families. We have no more maids and it's fine. You should just worry about getting a good job live comfortable. I'm gonna get over the sickness so I can make you your graduation for middle school food a little celebration and you can invite all your friends over." " all right mom I can't wait." he said as well he has her by the hand, dragging her to her room, putting her into bed. He goes to his room. "But I was born with a useless talent. My father was genuine guy. He helped the needy he held up the shiba clans reputation, even though we're an old clan, he still helped before he died, of course my name is Keoni Kamal Koa Malik Shiba my dad didn't really have the best ideas when it came to names, but he says every word means something of course that's not my full name like my full name is supposed to be some kind of poem or not even a poem just a bunch of words that mean so much so my full name really means Keoni is my great grandfather the name my DNA is really scattered Kamal means perfection Koa meaning fearless Malik meaning sovereign Keahi meaning flame rio meaning River Tariq meaning MorningStar Amarodio Eternan meaning to love you hated eternally and last, but at least Teomiquiz Xochitl translates to divine death the love that kills like a God

Which basically means K which comes from my great grandfather to his son to his son and then to me we all have K in our name, but here is the full meaning in the correct order

K the perfection, fearless sovereign who walks through flames, and on water into the morning star that loves and hates who had a grand divine death from a love that kills like the gods eternally

Shiba stand up goes into his closet and puts on a bandanna over his eyes and over his head with a star in the middle of the forehead he put on some other clothes a little protection here and there he grabs two swords and jumps off the window but just because I'm born with a useless talent does not mean I'm useless. I don't think I could become a hero by myself but I will be changed in the world for the better vigilante name dark star

*the next day*

The bells are ringing the teacher slammed his notebook on his desk. Listen to the know the school year is starting, but since it's your last year here for everyone's first assignment I need you guys to put what you wanna be in the future which I know half of all of you are going to say sentinel without sentence, the class corrupted in chairs one voice was heard among all of them. She was powerful, long, unruly, blonde, hair and talent to match her confident, arrogant aura. It's not fair that she was born with a powerful talent, but not only that she has beauty speed power, a functional family only thing that ruins her is her arrogant cocky attitude, and she kind of bullies me for time to time, but that doesn't really bother me me and her were trying to friends and when I got my talent, she was ecstatic because I got one before she did, but when she got hers, that's when her ego really sort of thrive her ability abilities are just out of this world. She's easily gonna become a strong sentinel people kind of bully me because of my talent, but it's not as bad as it seems I just produce kind of a smoky black thing that protrudes out my body that I can control and it can come from anywhere so it's not that bad. it's just I can only make it like a foot-long. which I've got it longer when I was a little, it could only become an inch. The teacher spoke up again, but before we can start class, I got to introduce you to the new student. She moved here recently and now she's gonna be attending middle school. Her hair was a crimson red with snow white eyelashes. She had Crystal blue eyes. She looked around, frantically and she's a little timid " my name is Isla Aoi" she looked down nervously Oh, I forgot to mention my childhood friend's name. Asahi Hima some weeks past and me and Isla are both kind of outsiders but separately

A week later Isla find Shiba on the roof eating his lunch. She doesn't go sit next to him, but she just looks. At him he looks confused then he starts trying to have a conversation with her. It's kind of awkward. Both of them are not really good at conversations but at least he's trying another week pass. She still hasn't warmed up, but he asked her. What do you want to be in the future? She looks down and says well I really don't know. When I was younger, I really used to wanna be a sentinel. Me too, Shiba set excitedly what's your talent she frowned portals and others, but it's not really anything too cool. I'm barely know what I'm doing. It's kind of scary, but why do I gotta be scared of something that I love you know what I mean people who don't understand me

Shiba smiled at her, not the fake kind people gave when they didn't know what to say — it was awkward and real, like he didn't care that she stumbled over her words.

"Yeah…I get it," he said, chewing the inside of his cheek nervously. "It's like, you love the idea of it, but when it's in your hands, it's…heavier than you thought."

Isla nodded slowly, her white lashes fluttering as she looked away, embarrassed.

"I don't know if I can really control it, you know? It's like…it listens when it wants to. Not when I need it to."

The wind picked up on the rooftop, lifting her crimson hair slightly. Shiba chuckled quietly, setting his lunchbox aside.

"That's fine. I can't really control mine either. I just…make these black things grow outta me. Everyone says it's gross." He stretched out his hand and a small shadowy spike slowly emerged from the back of it, wobbling awkwardly before retracting. "See? Kinda lame."

Isla stared at it, wide-eyed.

"…It's not gross," she whispered.

Shiba blinked.

She hugged her knees closer to her chest, hiding her face slightly. "I think it's…cool."

A silence stretched between them. Not the awkward kind this time — something warmer. Something that made the roof feel a little less lonely.

Shiba grinned, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Thanks, Isla. Hey, um…if you ever want to practice using your portals…maybe we could train together after school or something?"

Isla hesitated, then nodded, just once.

"Y-yeah. I'd like that."

Later that day after class…

Asahi Hima caught up to Shiba in the hallway, slamming a hand onto his shoulder with a grin way too big for someone her age. Her golden eyes practically shone with excitement.

"Yo, Dweeb!" she barked. "Who's the weirdo you've been hanging out with lately? The red-haired new girl?"

Shiba stiffened but didn't shake her off. He was used to Asahi's…energy.

"Her name's Isla," he said. "She's nice."

Asahi wrinkled her nose. "Pfft. Whatever. weirdo, Shiba. You barely got anything going for you anyway."

Shiba smiled tightly. He knew Asahi didn't really mean it. Or maybe she did, but not in the way she thought. That was just her.

Asahi stared at him for a second, something flashing in her eyes. Then she smirked and punched his arm lightly, for her.

She laughed, loud and cocky, and raced ahead of him down the hall.

Shiba lingered by the lockers a second longer, looking out the window. Somewhere out there, a whole world of heroes, villains, and monsters was waiting for them. He didn't know if he could really be a hero. He didn't know if his weird, small talent was good enough.

But maybe…with a few friends by his side, it wouldn't matter.

After School - A Few Blocks From Campus

The sun was low, painting the world orange and pink as Shiba and Isla found an empty, dusty lot behind an abandoned convenience store.

It wasn't exactly legal, but it was quiet. No one to see. No one to laugh.

Shiba dropped his backpack and stretched.

"Alright! So, uh…how do you usually make the portals come out?"

Isla fidgeted, her white lashes dipping low as she avoided his eyes.

"I don't know… It kinda just happens sometimes when I'm scared or when I…really, really need to get away."

Shiba nodded thoughtfully.

"Okay. Let's try making you need it, but…not in a scary way. Maybe like…catch me?"

He took a few steps back and made a little 'come at me' motion with his hands.

Isla blinked.

"You want me to catch you?"

"Yeah!" Shiba said with a grin. "Like…pretend I'm falling or something. Your instinct might kick in."

She hesitated, biting her lip — but then she nodded.

"Okay."

They both got into place. Shiba made a running start and leapt, flinging himself lightly toward her. Isla panicked, her hands flaring out, and — FWIP!!!

— a shimmering hole the size of a dinner plate ripped open in the air between them.

Shiba yelped midair - he twisted to avoid falling into it - and barely landed on his feet.

Isla gasped, staring at the portal.

It shimmered like water…but the "other side" wasn't another place nearby.

It wasn't a street, or a rooftop, or a park.

It was…somewhere else.

Something huge moved in the distance inside the portal. A massive shadow — like the limb of something monstrous — stirred in a void of swirling blue and black mist.

Shiba's breath caught in his throat.

"What the hell…"

The portal began to widen, as if it wanted to swallow the whole lot.

Isla panicked, tears welling in her eyes.

"Close—! Close—! Close!!"

She clapped her hands together desperately and the portal snapped shut with a deafening BOOM, kicking up dust all around them.

For a few seconds, neither of them spoke.

Only their heavy breathing filled the air.

Finally, Shiba stumbled toward her, coughing.

"You…you okay?"

Isla wiped her eyes quickly, embarrassed.

"I'm sorry—I didn't mean to—I can't—I'm sorry—"

"Hey, hey, it's okay," Shiba said quickly, holding up his hands. "That was…that was awesome."

She froze, looking up at him, confused.

"I mean…kinda scary," he admitted, still shaking a little. "But it was awesome. You're way stronger than you think."

Isla shook her head violently.

"I don't want to be scary. I just…I just want to be useful."

Shiba gave her a small, sincere smile.

"You can be both."

The wind blew past again, stirring Isla's crimson hair around her face.

For the first time…something like a small spark of hope flickered in her wide, trembling blue eyes.

Maybe she wasn't broken.

Maybe…with someone like Shiba beside her, she could actually figure it out.

Meanwhile - Watching from a Distance

High above, on a nearby rooftop, a man in a long black coat watched them through binoculars.

His lips curled into a small, knowing smile.

"So," he murmured, "another anomaly appears…"

He slipped the binoculars away and disappeared into the dusk.
