On his way back, Lin Yu ran into a subordinate trying to report something trivial.
"Send it to me by email," Lin Yu waved him off and headed straight toward his office.
Since he was about to cut ties with the company, none of its affairs concerned him anymore.
Still, he didn't go straight to the garage—he had some preparation to do first.
The office was small, but at least the previous V had risen high enough to have a private one.
First on Lin Yu's list was to equip the Mantis Blades.
Normally, installing cyberware required a ripperdoc, but since these Mantis Blades were a system reward, he wasn't sure if the installation would be any different.
"Install cyberware!"
Opening the system inventory, Lin Yu selected the Mantis Blades and softly commanded.
A brilliant flash of light later, the Mantis Blades had been installed in his arms.
Surprisingly, his arms were completely unharmed—there was no pain, no scars.
They looked almost like an organic extension of his skeleton.
At the same time, information about how to use them streamed into his mind.
'If I'd learned this fast back in school, I would've been the top scorer for sure!'
For a moment, Lin Yu found the thought absurdly funny.
With a flick of his mind, he found that the Mantis Blades could retract seamlessly, as if they weren't even there.
After completing the most important step, Lin Yu moved on to transferring all the funds from his corporate account into Jackie's account.
Jackie immediately called in a panic, but Lin Yu didn't explain much—just told him to wait at the bar.
Next, Lin Yu backed up all the data he had copied from the earlier chip and the company's internal network.
Once he was fired, access to these would be revoked—but even if they seemed useless now, they might become valuable someday.
Lin Yu knew he needed to be meticulous if he wanted to achieve his goals.
Once all preparations were complete, he headed down to the parking deck.
There were several AVs (aerial vehicles) parked inside, one of which belonged to Jenkins.
Since Lin Yu had already been scanned when entering the building, the vehicle door opened automatically.
The interior featured two rows of facing seats, more luxurious than anything Lin Yu had ever ridden in before.
There was no driver's seat—everything was fully autonomous.
"Please provide your destination," a mechanical female voice prompted.
Once a destination was set, the AV would handle the rest.
"Lizzie's Bar," Lin Yu said softly, gazing out the window.
The vehicle lifted off smoothly, soaring into the skies above the city.
Through the window, Lin Yu could admire the breathtaking view of Night City from above: towering skyscrapers and neon lights stretching as far as the eye could see.
Taking a deep breath, he still couldn't suppress the excitement in his heart.
It was simply too beautiful here.
On the right side of the seat, there was a mini-bar stocked with four crystal wine glasses.
Lin Yu casually poured himself a drink.
Sitting inside the luxurious AV, sipping fine liquor while gazing out at the dazzling cityscape—
—it was an indescribable feeling of bliss.
But all of this was only temporary; none of it truly belonged to him yet!
"A toast to you, Night City!"
Lin Yu raised his glass slightly toward the window, then smiled and took a sip of his drink—an excellent champagne.
At the same time, he silently vowed in his heart that he would one day own a hovercar of his own.
He would even stand atop the entire Night City!
Since he had crossed over into this world and had a system by his side, he naturally didn't want to live a mediocre life at the very bottom forever.
During this time, his life coach called to chat for a while and offered some recovery advice.
Lin Yu understood that his body was still adjusting to the crossing, and that after a period of rest, he would be fine.
Lizzy's Bar wasn't exactly a high-end venue; there was no special parking spot for hovercars, so he had to land temporarily on the basketball court.
"Do you think this is an airport? You almost freaking killed us!"
As soon as he touched down, three burly men rushed over, with the one holding a basketball shouting at him.
"Well, you're not dead yet, are you!"
Lin Yu said as he instantly deployed his mantis blades. In a flash of sparks, he unleashed a flurry of strikes.
Before the three thugs could even react, they were already reduced to a pile of mangled flesh.
Despite the bloody skirmish, the surrounding pedestrians remained completely unfazed.
Was this the real Night City?
Lin Yu mused as he shook the blood off his mantis blades before retracting them.
Admittedly, he had occupied someone else's spot, which wasn't exactly honorable, but the law of the jungle was the rule of Night City!
Besides, he had wanted to test the power of his mantis blades—the results were exhilarating!
Crossing the basketball court, he soon spotted the back door of Lizzy's Bar.
A guard stood by the entrance—a woman with neon-green hacker hair and a provocatively revealing outfit, holding a baseball bat.
But the moment Lin Yu saw her face, any interest he might have had instantly evaporated.
"Couldn't you just use the main entrance like everyone else?"
She glared at Lin Yu fiercely.
"If you don't want to end up like them, don't waste my time."
Lin Yu pointed at the corpses on the basketball court and said with a smile.
The guard had obviously witnessed the earlier carnage; her expression shifted slightly, but ultimately, she stepped aside to let Lin Yu in.
"I'm keeping an eye on you!"
She shouted at his back.
Lin Yu knew she was just trying to save face—gang members always cared about appearances—so he couldn't be bothered to respond.
As he stepped into the bar, the raucous sound of music and revelry immediately assaulted his ears.
Lizzy's Bar was quite different from the bars Lin Yu had frequented before his crossing; the light pollution was even worse, and the place oozed a futuristic vibe.
Almost all the music was electronic synth.
"You don't come here often, huh? I've been waiting for you forever, V!"
Jackie Wells, lounging on a sofa in a corner booth, grinned at Lin Yu.
