The minor boss froze for a moment, then suddenly burst out laughing.
"Hahaha, these two little punks probably have no idea where they are!"
He shook his head, a series of crackling sounds coming from his neck, as he grinned at the burly man.
Another rumble echoed from downstairs—more people seemed to be arriving.
At the factory's rear entrance, the large gate had been thrown open, and two more vehicles rolled in. Judging by their markings, they were clearly from the Whirlpool Gang.
Not far from the back door, a plain-looking car sat quietly.
Inside, a young white man wore a baseball cap pulled low over his eyes, carefully observing everything unfolding before him.
"Dexter DeShawn, those two idiots have walked right into an ambush. This job's gonna be tricky—you'll need to ask for more money from the client."
The young man was clearly one of Dexter's scouts.
"Got it. Keep watching. If you can, bring back their corpses. The client might appreciate the souvenir."
With that, the call ended.
The scout sneered from the safety of his car, already planning how many men and what equipment he would need for the next move.
Meanwhile, Lin Yu could faintly hear the roar of engines and the steady rhythm of boots downstairs.
But he remained calm, quietly assessing how many enemies there were.
Jack's expression grew grim—he too realized they had walked into a trap.
"Hand over the money and get lost. That's the last bit of respect we'll show to Vidocq. Don't take on dumb jobs like this again!"
The minor boss, certain of his advantage, arrogantly extended his cybernetic hand.
Stealing their goods and demanding payment, and he still called it "respect."
"We should kill them. It's been hours since my hands tasted blood!"
The burly man grew impatient, stepping forward to argue with the minor boss.
"You hear that? My companion isn't so patient. You should make up your mind quickly before I change mine."
The minor boss tilted his head, the cybernetic scanner's red beam sweeping over Lin Yu's body.
Unfortunately for him, it found no cybernetic implants.
He turned away to placate the burly man—but when he looked back, his arm was already lying on the floor!
Lin Yu's mantis blade had sprung out in an instant—slicing cleanly through.
A flawless move!
The minor boss stared in shock at the missing portion of his arm, not even realizing what had happened.
When he looked up at Lin Yu, he finally saw the gleaming mantis blades bizarrely integrated into Lin Yu's arms.
"I told you... collecting my interest wouldn't be easy."
Lin Yu chuckled lightly. With a swift crossing motion of his arms, the minor boss's body was cut cleanly into three parts and collapsed to the ground.
"Kill them!"
The burly man finally snapped out of his shock, forcing down his fear and shouting as he reached for his gun.
But Jack gave him no chance. Holding his pistols in both hands, he fired two simultaneous shots, blowing the burly man's brains out.
The burly man, though wounded, showed no sign of slowing down as he frantically fled toward the door.
Their pain receptors had been edited—without feeling pain, they could keep fighting like maniacs.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Gunfire erupted downstairs as more Whirlpool Gang members charged upstairs.
Lin Yu wasn't about to let the burly man escape. Just as the man reached the doorway, Lin Yu's blade pierced through his back.
With a quick slash, the man collapsed for good.
"Jack, grab the goods and follow me out!"
Lin Yu barked out his command.
But he quickly realized a problem—in games, you could simply stuff everything into a backpack. Reality wasn't so convenient.
He could stash things inside his system's space, but Jack would have to carry the goods by hand, right?
"I've got a cybernetic spine. After modification, there's storage space built in."
Jack seemed to catch the doubt in Lin Yu's eyes and explained quickly.
As he spoke, he picked up the cybernetic arm from the floor and casually tossed it over his shoulder—where it vanished as if by magic.
"Damn, that's high-tech!"
Lin Yu was stunned. This world was way more interesting than any game!
"I don't know the exact principles—you'd have to ask Viktor—"
"Shit, the goods are gone!"
Jack suddenly cursed mid-sentence.
During the earlier scuffle with the burly man, someone must have snatched the goods!
"It must've been that kid who brought the box earlier!"
Lin Yu shouted as he sprinted deeper into the security room.
Sure enough—the kid was bolting ahead with the box, running toward a wall of glass.
He must've realized someone was after him, because he suddenly hurled the box through the glass toward the floor below and turned to pounce at Lin Yu!
Swish!
Lin Yu's mantis blades slashed twice in quick succession, cutting the kid down.
But the brief delay allowed the box to crash through the glass and tumble down.
Downstairs, someone was already waiting. They caught the box and immediately fled.
They were trying to get the goods out by car!
"Jack, chase them!"
Lin Yu shouted and leapt straight down from the second floor.
Activating his mantis blades' jump-slice, he landed with lethal force, instantly killing two enemies.
The Whirlpool Gang members stared in stunned silence.
Was this the power of a legendary cybernetic body?
After a brief moment of shock, chaos resumed.
The one carrying the box continued to flee toward the exit, while others on the stairs turned back and opened fire on Lin Yu.
Jack rushed to the window, ready to jump after Lin Yu—but hesitated.
"Fuck, it's too high!"
He cursed under his breath and turned back, heading for the stairs instead.
Bullets clanged wildly around Lin Yu as he kicked off the ground and ran along the wall, moving like some martial arts phantom!
