At maximum level, Wang Mu could even share talents!
Spirit Affinity falls under talents. Spirit beasts below Commander Grade only possess Basic talents; only upon reaching Commander Grade do they attain Intermediate talents. Some exceptional individuals may even surpass these limits.
Wang Mu himself had talents as well. When he was young, he was tested like everyone else and found to have All-Attribute Affinity, but it wasn't assigned a grade.
Later, through contracting spirit beasts, he could receive feedback and gradually increase his affinity toward one or multiple attributes.
Eventually, without relying on spirit beasts, a Beastmaster could also cast spells independently.
Because of this, Beastmasters typically specialize in one attribute, with a maximum of three. Any more would hinder their growth and future potential.
However, being able to share talents meant Wang Mu only needed to ensure that his spirit beasts possessed high enough talents; he wouldn't need to worry about rigid attribute combinations.
He could pursue comprehensive development, allowing him to avoid weaknesses and become nearly invincible — wielding wide-ranging attack abilities while minimizing vulnerabilities.
Wang Mu's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Comprehensive development didn't mean being mediocre at everything — it meant having no weaknesses, overwhelming strength, and the ability to conceal shortcomings infinitely.
Taking a deep breath to calm his emotions, Wang Mu chose not to share the talent immediately.
Instead, he went to his room to register information for his newly established Beast Breeding Institute. The name he selected was Qing Mu, simple and meaningful. He needed to officially claim the name first.
Other details like his Beast Breeder level and main spirit beasts were left blank, pending the results of his upcoming assessment.
Wang Mu also signed up for the Beast Breeder assessment. There was no fixed date; as long as an applicant felt ready, they could apply.
Candidates were allowed to bring their own assisting spirit beasts and materials, then use the provided resources to cultivate spirit beasts on-site.
Success would determine their Beast Breeder ranking based on the quality of the cultivated spirit beasts.
Some individuals became Advanced Beast Breeders on their first try, while others only achieved Basic certification.
Currently, the Beast Breeder Association categorizes Beast Breeders into nine levels based on the grade of spirit beasts they can cultivate:
Normal
Excellent
Elite
Commander
Beast King
Lord
Overlord
King
Emperor
Cultivating even a single Excellent Grade spirit beast, even if by luck, qualified one as a Basic Beast Breeder.
Being able to consistently cultivate Excellent Grade spirit beasts elevated one to Intermediate Beast Breeder status.
Those who could cultivate Elite Grade spirit beasts became Advanced Beast Breeders.
Cultivating a single Commander Grade spirit beast earned the title of Quasi Master Beast Breeder.
Stable methods for cultivating Commander Grade spirit beasts promoted someone to Basic Master Beast Breeder status — a level where Zhu Tao currently stood.
Wang Mu, thanks to his advantages, could directly start as an Advanced Beast Breeder, but the gap afterward was significant.
The leap between Beast Breeder and Master Beast Breeder was so vast that the Association established a transitional rank: Quasi Master Beast Breeder.
At this stage, even Wang Mu didn't dare to claim he could achieve it quickly. He gave himself ten years — a timeline that would make outsiders think he was insane if they heard it.
The difficulty of advancing was high, but so were the rewards.
For example, once Wang Mu became an Advanced Beast Breeder, Shanhai City's policy would take effect, granting him permanent usage rights to a twenty-year lease of land — with only the restriction that it couldn't be passed down to descendants.
He would also gain access to publish missions, hire Beastmasters, and obtain qualifications to enter secret realms.
Secret realms were what Wang Mu looked forward to the most. If he could find high-grade spirit beasts for study, he might even shorten his promotion timeline.
Registration went smoothly. Three days later, he could bring his ID card for the assessment. This window of time would allow Wang Mu to complete the setup for his Beast Breeding Institute.
In a world where spirit beasts were the norm, setting up was simple — the only limit was budget.
Wang Mu also didn't share his abilities with the Green Wood Demon yet. It wasn't that he was unwilling, but this type of spirit beast would cause considerable commotion upon advancing.
Wang Mu had already experienced this firsthand — it was why he had spent years quietly raising only Green Leaf Butterflies.
It's important to understand that a spirit beast's species was just as important as its grade.
Elemental spirit beasts had high status when it came to spellcasting.
Plant-type spirit beasts were easy to raise, had long lifespans, and could even extend a Beastmaster's life, but were usually average in terms of combat strength.
Traditional beast-type spirit beasts were difficult to raise — especially regarding feeding — but had strong combat potential.
Insect-type spirit beasts had short growth cycles, matured quickly, and possessed decent combat abilities, but typically had very short lifespans.
No matter how the Green Leaf Butterfly lineage mutated and evolved, their lifespan capped at twenty years. Only after reaching the fourth stage would each additional stage add another ten years to their life.
The bloodline grade of a spirit beast represented the potential level it could reach with sufficient training. Breaking past that bloodline limit later was extremely difficult.
For instance, Wang Lingfeng's Phoenix Eye Butterfly had an Elite Grade bloodline — capable of smoothly reaching third-stage strength.
It had already reached third-stage strength by the time Wang Mu was born. Seventeen years later, it was still at third-stage.
If their family had better resources, it might have broken through to fourth-stage by now.
Wang Mu had realized from a young age — through his parents' frugality — that his father had essentially abandoned his path as a Beastmaster.
Thus, Wang Mu made a vow: he would provide his parents with Excellent Grade spirit beasts in the future.
That night passed peacefully. The next morning, Wang Mu got up at five o'clock, ate breakfast, and then carefully watched over the three cocoons.
When Wang Lingfeng came to check, he was slightly surprised:
"The color has already changed during the cocoon stage. You've made great progress."
Jiang Meiqin also stopped by, quickly forming her own judgment based on her years of experience:
"It doesn't just look Excellent Grade. This silver one feels like it has a bit of an Elite Grade fluctuation!"
"Elite?" Wang Lingfeng was equally surprised. He quickly communicated with a golden butterfly resting on his shoulder.
After a few seconds, he turned to Wang Mu, his face full of joy:
"You kid! Usually so quiet, but I didn't expect you to pull off something this big.Are you planning to directly take the Advanced Beast Breeder assessment?"
Wang Mu nodded calmly:
"Yes."
Wang Lingfeng grinned:
"That will save you so much time — and give you a huge head start. The Association provides massive resource support for outstanding young Beast Breeders. An 80% discount on internal materials, one unconditional entry into a secret realm, and the ability to buy rare spirit beasts — all of it."
Hearing this, both Jiang Meiqin and Wang Lingfeng looked a little emotional:
"When a child becomes too outstanding, as parents we feel both joy and sadness.Xiao Mu, just tell us whatever you need in the future. Your talent must never be buried."
Wang Mu smiled and reassured them:
"Dad, Mom, you've already supported me more than enough.Dad, you always dreamed of being a powerful Beastmaster.Once I become a Master Beast Breeder, I'll make sure you have a Commander Grade spirit beast."
"Mom, you always wanted to travel and didn't want to be tied down as a Spirit Chef. You sacrificed so many years for me. In the future, you'll be free to do whatever you want."
Wang Lingfeng and Jiang Meiqin exchanged glances, eyes glistening slightly with emotion.
They once worried their son was too cold-hearted, but now they understood — he simply wasn't good at expressing emotions, but he had remembered everything.
Pride filled their hearts.
The Cocoon Hatching
Beast Breeders usually control the number of people their spirit beasts see immediately after birth.
Knowing this, Wang Lingfeng and Jiang Meiqin purposefully stayed busy at the Beast Breeding Institute, leaving Wang Mu alone.
Around six o'clock, as the first rays of dawn touched the sky, the cocoons began to stir.
The silver cocoon was the first to split — a small hole appeared but nothing emerged immediately.
Wang Mu held his breath.
A sudden burst of psionic power erupted, pulverizing the silver cocoon into dust!
A palm-sized, pure silver butterfly emerged, fluttered lightly, first perching on Green Ling, then landing on Wang Mu's hand.
Silver Butterfly (Adult)
Level: 0
Bloodline: Elite
Talent: Mental System Augmentation (Basic Upper Grade)
Talent Spells: Psionic Burst (Proficient), Mental Blade (Beginner)
Share Level: 3
A dual-skill, Mental System Silver Butterfly!
Even though it was only Level 0, its combat power was extraordinary. Against enemies under Level 1 without mental defenses, it would be a guaranteed kill.
Seeing the result with his own eyes, Wang Mu couldn't help but smile.
His assessment was secured!
He took out the prepared nutrient solution, and the Silver Butterfly immediately began feeding.
Soon after, the other two cocoons broke apart, revealing two equally beautiful spirit beasts:
Poison Powder Butterfly (Adult)
Level: 0
Bloodline: Elite
Talent: Poison Augmentation (Basic Upper Grade), Mental System Augmentation (Basic Middle Grade)
Talent Spells: Poisonous Phosphorescent Powder (Proficient), Psionic Power (Beginner)
Share Level: 3
Green Jade Butterfly (Adult)
Level: 0
Bloodline: Elite
Talent: Wood Spirit Affinity (Intermediate Lower Grade)
Talent Spells: Leaf Blade (Mastered)
Share Level: 3
"Hmm?"Wang Mu frowned slightly, surprised as he looked at the Green Jade Butterfly.
He hadn't mastered many Wood-type spells himself, but he remembered his father's Jungle Lizard, whose Leaf Blade technique had reached Control Grade — a significant achievement.
It turned out spell mastery had a huge impact on a spirit beast's evolution!
While he had anticipated all three spirit beasts reaching Elite Grade, and expected the Silver Butterfly to be the most outstanding, the Green Jade Butterfly now seemed to have the greatest potential.
This was because it had an Intermediate Affinity — the standard for Commander Grade spirit beasts.
Although its bloodline was still modest, the Green Leaf Butterfly lineage had infinite adaptability and possibilities.
Regardless, Wang Mu knew one thing for sure after careful observation:
His chance to break through to the Master Beast Breeder level in the future would likely lie with the Green Jade Butterfly.
