Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Card Levels

"There really are 100 points! Thank you, Senpai Irena! I like you the most!"

Never thought that in her lifetime, she could obtain so many Spell Points. Even if they were borrowed, Aisha found it hard to suppress the excitement in her heart.

"Er." Senpai Irena felt her heart skip a beat.

"This child, she can actually say things with such high killing power without any defenses."

Gazing at Aisha's thin back walking towards the "Spell Catalog", Irena's joyful mood was mixed with a bit of reluctance.

As the librarian, Irena would always watch Aisha leave before closing the library each time.

But perhaps today was the last time.

[Remaining Spell Points: 100]

"Mr. You Ling , which cards should we craft now?"

The Spell & Trap Cards registered in the "Spell Catalog" are divided into 4 levels.

From lowest to highest, they are respectively D-rank, C-rank, B-rank, and A-rank.

For example, the 「Hand Exchange」 that Aisha just crafted today belongs to the D-rank Magic Cards.

These types of Spell & Trap cards generally do not have powerful effects; they can only barely provide basic attack/defense boosts, or even if they have powerful effects, the cost is extremely high.

The lowest D-rank cards also consume the fewest Spell Points for crafting, only requiring 10 points.

The higher C-rank Spell & Trap cards have relatively stronger effects.

But even if stronger than D-rank cards, for C-rank cards to truly be effective in a duel, the Duelist must possess a sufficiently clear strategy.

C-rank cards require 30 Spell Points to craft.

Although it seems a bit expensive for Aisha who only has 100 Spell Points.

But there is one Magic Card among them that You Ling had noticed for a long time.

C-Rank Magic Card 「Three White Bones Zone」

Its effect is to Special Summon 3 Level 2 or lower Normal Monsters from the Graveyard, perfectly suited for Aisha's current deck.

Moving further up to B-rank Spell & Trap cards, they already exceed Aisha's current affordability.

Just crafting one requires a full 100 Spell Points.

Among them, the 「Fusion」 Magic Card, which holds representative significance for Fusion Academy, is listed among the B-rank cards.

Similarly, there are also many powerful Trap cards that, in many situations, are sufficient to change the tide of battle with just one card.

The classic 「Sacred Barrier -Mirror Force-」 and 「Magic Cylinder」 are also in this list.

Although Spell & Trap cards of this strength are very attractive, they are basically not within You Ling's scope of consideration.

Just 1 card would use up the entire borrowed limit of 100 points.

Not only would You Ling not consider it, but for ordinary first-year students, the Spell Points accumulated over half a semester are generally around two or three hundred points. They also rarely consider choosing to craft B-rank Spell & Trap cards.

Is what Aisha needs right now a powerful card that can change the tide of battle with one card?

Not at all. The change brought by adding 1 card to a trash monster deck is almost negligible.

In a deck of at least 40 cards, the duel might already be lost before drawing that 1 card.

What Aisha's current deck needs is to increase the quantity of Spell & Trap cards as quickly as possible, reducing the concentration ratio purely occupied by monster cards.

Therefore, You Ling's current crafting goal must be placed on C-rank and D-rank, and most of them must be D-rank cards.

As for the highest A-rank cards, it's no longer a question of whether they can be considered.

Just crafting one requires a maximum of 400 Spell Points.

Moreover, A-rank Spell & Trap cards, rather than calling them powerful cards, according to You Ling's knowledge, calling them Forbidden cards is more appropriate.

Most of the cards in the A-rank list were cards banned from use in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters competitions in the world You Ling lived in before his death.

The most classic representatives 「Pot of Greed」, 「Graceful Charity」 , and 「Painful Choice」, all belong to A-rank cards.

Although these cards are not Forbidden cards in this world, the high crafting cost of 400 points is enough to make most Duelists shrink back.

"In any case, let's first craft that C-rank 「Three White Bones Zone」."

"Understood, Mr. You Ling."

[Remaining Spell Points: 70]

With a bold throw, Aisha, who previously flinched even at crafting D-rank cards, experienced for the first time the exhilaration of instantly crafting a C-rank card.

"It really is a C-rank card, Mr. You Ling! We succeeded!"

Clutching the Magic Card that emerged from the "Spell Catalog" tightly in her hand, Aisha Yuna Carlos obtained the first C-rank card in her life.

The card face of 「Three White Bones Zone」 appeared gloomy and terrifying, but in Aisha's eyes, this card was sparkling.

However, in Irena's view, compared to that C-rank card, the stars almost overflowing from Aisha's emerald green eyes at this moment were sparkling even more.

"And then, and then, what other cards do we need to craft, Mr. You Ling!" Aisha asked expectantly.

"One C-rank card is already a big burden. To effectively increase the number of Spell & Trap cards in the deck, the remaining Spell Points will all be used to craft D-rank cards."

With the remaining 70 Spell Points, plus the [Hand Exchange] Aisha crafted earlier, there would be 8 D-rank cards in total.

It's no exaggeration to say that compared to Aisha's previous pure trash deck that absolutely couldn't win, this deck at least possesses something like a 'probability of victory'.

However, crafting 7 D-rank cards with the remaining 70 Spell Points, while simple to say, takes a lot of effort to do.

After all, carefully selecting the best 7 cards from the sea of numerous D-rank cards, to be used in the battle against Kevin Set, requires very careful consideration.

"Next comes the battle of attrition, be prepared, Aisha."

"Leave it to me with confidence, Mr. You Ling!"

For the entire afternoon, Aisha acted like a puppet robot absolutely obeying You Ling's commands, continuously flipping through the D-rank catalog in her hand, selecting cards one after another.

[Remaining Points: 0]

When the last D-rank Trap card was successfully crafted by Aisha, the sun had long since set.

Aisha, snapping back to reality, was surprised that it had unknowingly gotten so late.

Although it's a boarding school, Fusion Academy's library does not open at night. After club activities end and the sun sets, it closes directly.

And at this time, it was clearly long past the time the library should have closed.

The silent surroundings, empty of people, also indicated that all other students had already left.

In the dim library, only a faint light remained above Aisha's head and on the librarian's desk.

The pale yellow light made Irena's delicate features even more charming.

"Senpai Irena, were you waiting for me?"

"I saw you were too focused, Aisha, so I didn't disturb you. How did it go, was the crafting successful?"

"Very successful, but instead, it delayed Senpai Irena's time."

"It's alright, I happened to have a book I wanted to read a bit longer today, so it doesn't count as a delay."

Returning a smile, Irena gently closed the book in front of her.

"But it really is quite late already. Before heading back to the dormitory, would you like to have dinner together?"

"Dinner together? Me and Senpai Irena?"

Unexpectedly receiving an invitation from the famous Ashen Witch Irena of the academy, Aisha felt somewhat overwhelmed by the favor.

"Unwilling?" Irena gazed at Aisha, blinking her water-blue eyes.

"Um..." Scratching her cheek, Aisha wasn't unwilling, it was just that right now, she was more concerned about You Ling's feelings.

"I'm fine, soul bodies don't seem to need to eat. Aisha, if you want to go, just go," seeing through Aisha's concerns, You Ling said frankly.

"I want to go!" Her little stomach had already started grumbling discontentedly. After getting You Ling's reply, Aisha immediately nodded in agreement.

"Mm, my treat tonight. Let's go to that most popular magic restaurant in the academy."

Putting on her wide-brimmed witch hat, Irena, with a bright smile on her face, pushed open the library's main door.
