Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Kanzaki shot Yonezu a questioning look. "So, what the hell was that?" he asked. "Why didn't we just pay up? Isn't that why we came here?"

Yonezu looked back at him, a bit puzzled. "I never said I was going to pay for it. I just needed her to confirm something."

Kanzaki pressed on, "And what exactly was that?"

Yonezu sighed. "Alright, let's find a place to sit first. This might take a while, and I'm too tired to keep walking around."

Once they found a seat, Yonezu started explaining.

"Let's start with what we know, yeah?" Yonezu began. "It's confirmed that what we have for ourselves are Private Points, and the class has Class Points. It seems like the competition here is way more about Class Points." He glanced at Kanzaki to make sure he was following.

Kanzaki nodded.

"And we also know the school judges students based on merit. That's probably why there are so many cameras-to keep an eye on everyone," Yonezu continued.

Kanzaki nodded again.

"And based on the class rankings, we can say we're better off than the two classes below us. So our only real obstacle is Class A," Yonezu said.

Kanzaki rolled his eyes. "Can you just get to the point already?"

Yonezu sighed again. "The point is, next month, it's not guaranteed that we'll get another 100,000 Private Points. That's the main thing."

Kanzaki asked, "So how much do you think we'll get?"

Yonezu shrugged. "No idea. It all depends on how many Class Points we have after the school judges us. We'll probably find out next month."

Kanzaki looked like he understood, but still asked, "Why does it depend on Class Points?"

Yonezu explained, "Because the results are collective. What you do affects the Class Points, and Private Points probably come from converting Class Points."

Kanzaki looked confused. "How do you know it's collective?"

Yonezu answered lazily, "Because the teacher said something about how when I try to confirm stuff, it might affect the whole class. So, that's what I'm basing it on."

He added, "But that's just my theory. We won't know the exact details unless we pay for the info."

Kanzaki asked again, "Then why didn't we just pay for it earlier?"

Yonezu answered right away, "Because it affects the whole class. We have no idea how many Class Points we actually have. What if we only have just enough to get the answer, and then we drop to zero and become Class D? We don't even know what kind of info we'd get, or if we could ever get our Class Points back up to B. Plus, with all the free stuff in this school, it looks like the lower classes don't have enough Private Points to live comfortably."

He sighed. "That's why I didn't ask for it. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot."

Kanzaki was quiet for a moment, then nodded. "Alright. I get it now."

He let out a sigh too. "Man, this really is an 'Advanced' Nurturing School."

Yonezu agreed. "Yup. Just like in real life-the people at the top get richer, and the ones at the bottom struggle."

Kanzaki suggested, "Maybe we should talk to the class about this tomorrow."

Yonezu got up, stretching. "Welp, you do you. I'm tired and need to get some rest. See you tomorrow, Kanzaki."
