Chapter 2 - Chapter II: A Question That Sought No Answer

She remained silent, as still as a marble statue. The first rays of the season’s sun fell upon her delicate shoulders, but Quang felt as though there was a thick wall of ice between them. She spoke, her voice soft, but each word was like a sharp knife thrusting straight into his chest:

"Is that so?"

Just two simple words - no raised voice, no tears, no accusations. But Phú Quang would have preferred her to shout, even slap him across the face, than to hear those words - like a sentence of death that fell lightly upon him.

He trembled as he reached out to touch her shoulder. But Kim subtly shifted away, a small movement that pierced him like a fatal blow.

"Kim, I swear..." Quang stammered, his eyes reddening.

But she turned her face away, her long hair flowing in the sunlight like soft silk, her gaze void of any trace of emotion for him. At that moment, Tư Hạ ran up, carrying a heavy stack of books, out of breath, and looking confusedly at the two friends.

"Hey... what's going on?" she asked, but only received the heavy silence in response.

Thiên Kim took a deep breath, her galaxy-like eyes shimmering with coldness. She lifted her chin high, her voice as if veiled by a thin layer of mist:

"Let’s go, Tư Hạ. We’re late."

A simple sentence, soft yet carrying the finality of a bell tolling, signaling the end of her two-year relationship with Phú Quang. Kim walked away, each step graceful, carrying with her a sweet fragrance, like a melting candy, intertwined with the haughty air that made everyone who passed by instinctively look back. Tư Hạ hesitated for a moment, glancing back at Phú Quang. But when she saw his red eyes and the helpless, drooping hands, she could only sigh and silently follow Thiên Kim. The wind blew gently, brushing past the flowers along the path. Phú Quang stood there, left alone in the vast courtyard, as bewildered as a child abandoned by the world.
