The following days passed in a blur of motion. Cael had joined the Fairy Tail guild, and though the noise and chaos were overwhelming at first, something about the energy in the air settled him. There were people everywhere, talking, laughing, fighting, and working. It was like a living organism, constantly in motion.
Every morning, Cael would wake up in a small room that had been generously given to him. The room wasn't much—bare walls, a small bed, and a wooden table—but it was his. And for now, it was enough.
Each day, he tried to focus on understanding his magic, but the task seemed insurmountable. Every time he attempted to tap into it, a jolt of power surged through him, too wild and untamed to control. He could feel the energy crackling just beneath his skin, like it wanted to escape, to burn through him, but it refused to be harnessed.
He didn't understand it—didn't even know how to begin.
But there was one person who might be able to help.
Mira Jane.
She was kind and understanding, a veteran mage in the guild who had shown him kindness when he'd first arrived. She had noticed his struggles and had offered to help. He hadn't expected much—after all, what could someone with little more than raw power teach him? But something about her made him trust her, even if just a little.
Today, she had asked him to meet her in the training hall, the largest room in the guild where members trained and sparred.
Cael arrived early, standing by the entrance, unsure of what to expect. The training hall was enormous, with stone floors, open spaces, and practice dummies scattered around. Members were already training, some practicing hand-to-hand combat, others honing their magic. The air was thick with magic, crackling with energy.
Mira Jane entered a few moments later, a calm presence amidst the chaos.
"Ready?" she asked with a smile, her tone warm.
Cael nodded, though he felt the familiar tension building in his chest. He wasn't sure how much he could control yet.
Mira's gaze softened. "Don't worry. We'll take it slow. The most important thing is learning to feel your magic, to connect with it. Magic isn't just about power; it's about understanding."
Cael's eyes flickered, the words ringing in his mind. Magic isn't just about power.
That was the problem, wasn't it? He had so much power, yet no control. His thoughts were too erratic, too scattered. How could he possibly learn to focus?
Mira walked over to one of the training dummies. "Start by channeling your magic into your hand. Feel the energy within you, then try to focus it into a single point."
Cael hesitated for a moment, but then he extended his hand toward the dummy, closing his eyes and trying to do as she said. He could feel the energy—wild, almost untamable—coursing through him. It thrummed, waiting to burst free. He focused harder, trying to contain it.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then, a small crackling burst of purple energy erupted from his palm, hitting the dummy squarely in the chest. The force of it made the dummy tremble, the wood creaking under the impact.
Cael blinked, staring at the result. That was... something. It wasn't much, but it was a start.
Mira's eyes shone with a hint of approval. "Good. Now, try again. This time, try to guide it—control the flow of energy, don't let it overwhelm you."
Cael took a deep breath and nodded. He could feel the energy again, thrumming inside him, but this time, he focused more, imagining the energy flowing through his veins, like a river that he had to direct.
He focused all his attention on the task. He could feel it, a surge of energy starting to build in his palm again. He could almost hear the hum of it in his ears. Then, with a burst of concentration, he released it.
This time, the energy was much more controlled. The crackling purple light shot forward, a focused blast that hit the dummy dead center. The impact left a visible scorch mark, but the dummy didn't shatter like it had last time.
Cael exhaled, wiping the sweat from his brow. That felt... better. There was still so much to learn, but for the first time since he had awakened in this world, he felt like he was starting to understand his magic, even if just a little.
Mira smiled, walking over to him. "You're getting there. It's all about patience. Don't try to force it; just let it come to you."
Cael nodded, a small smirk pulling at the corner of his lips. "I'll try."
The rest of the training session went by in a blur. Cael focused on refining his magic, but there was still so much to master. His control was far from perfect, and his mind kept racing with possibilities—things he could build, create, and destroy. It was hard to keep his focus on just one thing when his mind wanted to leap from idea to idea.
By the end of the session, Cael was exhausted, but he felt a sense of accomplishment. He still had a long way to go, but this was the first real progress he had made since he had arrived in this world.
Mira clapped him on the back as they walked out of the training hall. "You did great today. Keep practicing, and you'll get the hang of it in no time."
Cael's eyes met hers, a flicker of something passing between them. "Thanks. I'll keep at it."
As they walked back to the guild hall, Cael couldn't help but feel that strange sense of purpose stirring inside him once more. He wasn't just here by chance—he had a reason for being in this world, and he would find it. He had power. He had knowledge. And soon, he would have control.
It was only the beginning.
