Chapter 2 - Zhou Lingyun

'Zhou Lingyun, a too well-sounding name for a spoiled brat who can't stop causing trouble…' Lingxu thought to himself, being in an extremely bad mood.

At first, he thought that this was just a young person, as an elder brother who even transmigrated, being mature, he wanted to be kind to this person… even with the memories present, he didn't believe in evil and thought that the former Lingxu was just a bit of an annoying person.

After all, it is true that he was dazed all the time. The younger brother might have thought that bullying this dazed older brother wouldn't cause any harm. Although this idea is cruel, reality is even worse, so Lingxu tried hard to ignore these facts and wanted to be a kind elder brother.

It turned out that his idea was very immature.

"WHY ARE YOU SO LOUD!" a scream came from the bed. Lingxu sighed, looking out the window, where the sun was already showing. In this age, one would wake up with the sun and go to sleep when it sets.

Not to mention cultivators who are much better off… although this young man didn't reach the age of testing for cultivation qualifications, he consumed tons of medicinal materials that strengthened the body and mind. Additionally, he was so young, at the age where he had no responsibilities… there wasn't even a school here, just some flattering boot licking tutors.

The young man stood up and took a stick that laid right next to his bed. He looked around and when he found his elder brother, he wanted to hit him to vent his anger… then he remembered what his father told him, so he lowered the stick.

All servants seemed to hold their breath – they knew that when the young master didn't hit his elder brother, it would be another servant.

They were right, Lingyun looked around and found a young man that was slightly taller than him, he stepped forward and swung the stick towards the servant's knees. The servant wanted to howl but couldn't, so he held his mouth closed and bit his tongue while his legs became weak and he fell down.

With his strength that came from eating way too many good things, he nearly instantly broke the servant's knee.

The little mad man thought it wasn't enough so he hit the boy's back a few times until crisp sounds came from the servant.

Only then did he feel satisfied and symbolised the female servants to step forward. They rushed and took off his clothes, then started dressing him while the male servants bowed down and cleaned the room, moving table and chair for breakfast.

Lingxu didn't have to do anything, he just stood by, acting dazed. At first he tried to be smart, but before he could even deliver his beautifully prepared speech, he was hit several times on his arms and legs by his younger brother. Just the single look his younger brother gave him made him realise the contempt hidden inside this young boy.

He tried to understand where it came from…

This didn't take long – it was his mother who talked badly about him day and night while spoiling the young boy in everything he does. Clearly, she felt threatened when Lingxu was born and the birth of Lingyun was a blessing, she didn't want to make her boy suffer any harm, to the point of allowing him everything and even praising him when he bullied his elder brother.

While he was being dressed, the chief steward came forward and talked about the plans of the day. Lingyun just nodded now and then, not really paying attention as he focused on a toy a bit further away.

Lingxu shook his head internally, 'You act so presumptuous and bratty, even a bit lustful by making three maids dress you, while you yourself just focus on toys. Alas, who is telling him how to behave this badly? Clearly, he got no clue, yet he tries to act as horrible as possible.'

After dressing, the young man ate breakfast alone in his room. His father was busy cultivating or doing other things, his mother at this time would have breakfast with her daughter, chitchatting about various topics. At first, she included her son, but when her husband heard of this, he sent his son away with the pretext that men and women shouldn't be close together.

Lingxu heard about this from gossiping servants. Since everyone thought he was a retard, they would just do whatever they wanted even when the was around, acting like he was just a pillar standing in the landscape.

The day passed by, with Lingxu simply following his younger brother, doing barely anything but being a mascot. At first, he was still assigned tasks, but the dazed Lingxu wasn't able to fulfil them, now he was just there to be humiliated, not that the dazed Lingxu understood this.

When dinner came around, the whole family of five gathered. After getting Lingxu, the head of the house Zhou Yulong couldn't stand taking another concubine, especially since he already had his heir. Naturally his lustful behaviour didn't stop, he just stopped taking concubines.

Lunch was another activity that was done alone, the whole day from the morning to dinner time, Lingyun was basically alone, doing his own things, being taught by tutors who flattered him most of the time, eating on his own while forcing servants to make a show for him…

It was a whole bunch of something.

Dinner being the only family activity made it more important for Lingyun, while Lingxu hated it. The rest of the day, if it was a good day, he would just walk around randomly, while on bad days he'd be beaten… but dinner was always a difficult situation for him.

First of all, he had to be present but wasn't allowed to sit anywhere near them, at one point the madam of the house made a joke that he might very well just stand in the corner if he wasn't going to eat anyways… from then on, he did indeed stand in the corner, sometimes facing them, sometimes facing the wall.

'This family is so cruel yet also so weird' Lingxu couldn't comprehend their goal. It felt like they were trying to humiliate him, but knowing he wouldn't understand, they just tried to make him feel useless. Well, the real Lingxu did die because of over exhaustion and abuse… but it was mainly because he was ignored, and no one cared for his injuries. They beat him but never brought him close to death.

'It was good luck the initial Lingxu didn't have a sane mind, he wouldn't have been able to stand this… not that it's much better. If I didn't treat my own injuries, I would have died there too. I really can't comprehend what they want to accomplish by making me feel bad, especially since I'm going to be ten years old tomorrow, the time my spiritual roots awaken.

Well, Lingyun did indeed not hit me today, but the years of abuse are enough for me to hate them. Even if I'm dazed, the moment I can cultivate, my conscious will slowly return and my memories would remain regardless, I'd just be able to comprehend the situation better then.

This family is reckless, cruel and so, so stupid. No wonder they are still a family without a spiritual vein in a world where veins can be easily artificially cultivated with enough dedication and a little resource… they are just so incompetent!'
