Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Mirror Whispers

three began with sunlight breaking through the Shimla fog, making the hotel look almost welcoming again. Almost. Despite the clear skies, a strange heaviness hung over everyone.

Prajwal, Swara, and Akshada stood at the balcony of their room, staring out at the mountains.

"Do you think the story's true?" Akshada asked, brushing her long hair.

"I don't know," Swara murmured. "But if it's not, then what knocked on the door last night?"

Prajwal didn't answer. She was deep in thought again. Her instincts never failed her, and something inside was telling her that Room 309 held more than just an old memory—it held energy. Bad energy.

Meanwhile, in Room 304, Anushka and Srushti were giggling about something on their phones.

"I swear, if I tell my boyfriend what happened, he'll probably tell the ghost to back off because I'm already taken," Srushti laughed.

"And I'd tell the ghost she should get a new mirror—because honey, I'm prettier!" Anushka added with a wink.

Their light-hearted talk was interrupted when the bathroom mirror flickered for a second—just a small ripple like a wave moving through the reflection. Both girls went silent.

"Did you see that?" Anushka whispered.

"See what?" Srushti said, frowning.

"The mirror. It… moved."

Before Srushti could respond, a loud knock echoed on their bathroom door. Both screamed and jumped away.

But when they opened it—nothing.

Later That Afternoon

The girls gathered in the garden again, trying to distract themselves with games and stories. Rutuja, Khushi, and Akshara were playing cards while the rest lounged around chatting.

"I think this whole hotel is cursed," Akshara said, trying to sound casual. "We should leave early."

"But we still have two nights left," said Apurva.

"Exactly. Two dangerous nights," Akshara shot back.

Swarali added, "There's something strange about the mirrors here. Even in our bathroom—I thought I saw someone behind me yesterday. But when I turned, no one was there."

"I saw the same thing," said Khushi quietly.

Everyone went quiet again.

That night, Prajwal made a decision.

"We're testing the mirror," she said as they stood in their room with the lights dimmed. "Just for a second. We'll record it."

Swara and Akshada hesitated but nodded.

They placed a phone camera facing the bathroom mirror and left the room.

At Midnight

They returned and played back the recording.

At first, it was just a normal reflection.

Then—at the 1-minute mark—the lights flickered in the video.

A pale shape moved across the mirror.

No sound. No form. Just movement—like a shadow gliding behind the glass.

At the 1:17 mark, writing appeared on the foggy mirror surface, though none of them had entered.

It said:

"SHE WATCHES YOU."

Everyone stared, stunned.

"Who's 'she'?" whispered Swara.

Just then, a loud crack came from Room 309 across the hall.

This time, no one dared to open their door.

But deep inside, they all knew… they were being watched.
