Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Orphanage

Beep~

Early in the morning, a ship blew a long, deep whistle and slowly sailed into the port of Coumarine City.

Coumarine City is a famous port city in the Kalos region and a well-known leisure and holiday resort, so even early in the morning, the port here is already busy.

The waters near the port are filled with ships of all sizes, including giant cruise ships, medium-sized yachts, and small fishing boats... As soon as the ship docks, a large crowd will gather at the dock, including workers unloading cargo, tourists entering the port, and vendors hawking their wares... There is an endless stream of people coming and going, and the shouts are louder and louder.

How long had Eddie not seen such a lively scene? It had been so long that he almost forgot what the human world looked like. He stood on the deck excitedly, looking at the dock getting closer and closer, and his heart surged.

At this time, more than ten days had passed since he was rescued by Captain Sanders and his crew. After more than ten days of sailing at sea, the ship finally docked.

After a period of challenging communication, Captain Sanders and others already knew that Eddie could not understand what they were saying, but he could understand what they meant through Pokémon.

Although they were surprised that Eddie could understand the Pokémon language, and also wondered why Eddie could not speak even though there was no problem with his intelligence and language system, Sanders and others were very glad that the child they rescued was not a simpleton.

After more than ten days of difficult communication, Eddie has roughly understood that Sanders and his team are an official exploration team formed by the Pokémon League. This voyage to the sea was to explore unknown ruins, but unexpectedly, they accidentally saved Eddie on the way back.

In addition, Eddie also actively learned the new language from everyone on the ship through Selene during these ten days.

Everyone was happy to teach him. Not only did they speak a lot slower, but they would also actively answer Eddie's questions. For example, when Eddie pointed at a chair, everyone would tell him how to say chair; when he pointed at the sky, everyone would tell him how to say sky...

Eddie was extremely grateful that he met a group of kind and lovely people.

Sanders saw Eddie staring at the crowd on the shore, so he walked over and said to him, "I'll ask Mogu to take you to the police station when we get ashore, and ask Officer Jenny to take you home."

Mogu was the young sailor who first discovered Eddie.

Eddie nodded.

In fact, he didn't have any home! Wherever he and Selene went, that was his home.

Because Captain Sanders could not understand Eddie and Selene's words, and Eddie's new language was not yet sufficient for communication, they still didn't know that Eddie was a savage raised by Pokémon on a deserted island. They thought he had just encountered a shipwreck and was temporarily separated from his family.

No one could understand what Eddie was saying, so he was too lazy to explain it, because no one could explain it clearly.

After going ashore, Captain Sanders had some official business to attend to, so Eddie was entrusted to the sailor Mogu.

Mogu was an enthusiastic young man. On the way to the police station, he talked endlessly to Eddie about his hometown, Coumarine City.

Coumarine City is indeed a beautiful city. It perfectly combines the sea, trees and modern light rail, making the whole city full of rich natural and cultural atmosphere.

After careful consideration, Eddie felt that this was a very suitable place to settle down, as it had both the prosperity of a big city and a strong natural atmosphere.

During the pleasant conversation, the two arrived at the Coumarine City Police Station. After the police learned the purpose of their visit, Officer Jenny received them solemnly.

After Mogu told Officer Jenny about Eddie's inability to communicate normally, Officer Jenny said, "Is that so? Then we can't effectively obtain information from this child..."

After thinking for a while, Officer Jenny suddenly slapped her forehead and said, "Oh, I have an idea! Wait for me for a moment." After that, she ran away quickly.

When Officer Jenny came back again, there was a beautiful older sister in a light green dress beside her.

"This is my good friend Machi." Officer Jenny introduced to Eddie and Mogu, "Her Alakazam can help us communicate with this kid." Then she looked at Machi and said, "Machi, please."

Machi nodded gently, then took out a Poké Ball. With a flash of light, a golden-furred Alakazam appeared in front of everyone.

After Alakazam came out, it looked at its trainer in confusion, but then Machi said something in its ear, and it skillfully took a pen and a blank notebook from its trainer's hand.

Officer Jenny explained with a smile: "Machi's Alakazam can read and write. Since this child can communicate with Pokémon, he only needs to tell Alakazam what he wants to say, and then Alakazam can write it down and tell us."

Mogu was surprised and said, "How amazing! He is actually a cultured Alakazam!"

Eddie also admired Alakazam's cleverness in his heart.

With the help of Alakazam, Officer Jenny and the others quickly found out the true situation of Eddie. Mogu said in shock: "Didn't you get stranded at sea? Was it this Gardevoir that raised you?" No wonder such a big child can't even speak.

After learning about Eddie's situation, Officer Jenny asked, "Little friend, what are your plans? Do you want to stay in Coumarine City?"

Eddie shook his head and nodded.

He now knows nothing about the world and naturally has no plans. He did know Pokémon in his previous life, but knowing Pokémon and understanding the Pokémon world are two different things!

It is a good suggestion to stay in Coumarine City.

"Oh... Since you are willing to stay in our Coumarine City, I will take you to apply for an identity certificate first, and then consider how to accommodate you." Officer Jenny said after thinking for a while.

To survive in this world you do need an identity.

Eddie nodded obediently, as if to say, "I'll do whatever you say."

Seeing that Eddie wanted to stay in Coumarine City, Mogu had an expression that said, "You have good vision." He rubbed his head and said, "Not bad boy. Believe me, you won't regret staying in Coumarine City."

Seeing that Officer Jenny had already made arrangements for Eddie, Mogu said again: "Officer Jenny, Eddie is in your hands. I have something else to do, so I'll leave first."

Officer Jenny nodded and said, "Don't worry, I will take good care of this little guy."

After saying goodbye to Eddie again, Mogu left the police station.

Eddie's identity certificate application went smoothly. He was young and his situation was special, so the household registration office gave him a green channel.

Everyone was worried about where to register Eddie's household registration.

"Why not send this child to an orphanage?" a police officer suggested.

"This is the only way..." Officer Jenny said with a frown.

In this way, Eddie's destination was decided.

Eddie spent the whole night in the police station, and the police officers bought dinner for him and Selene.

Officer Jenny came to pick him up early the next morning and thoughtfully brought breakfast for him and Selene.

After Eddie finished his breakfast, Officer Jenny took out a Poké Ball and handed it to him, saying, "I will send you to the orphanage later. Consider this Poké Ball as my gift to you. You can put Gardevoir in it."

Eddie took the Poké Ball gratefully and thanked Officer Jenny awkwardly in the language of the Pokémon world.

Selene was no stranger to Poké Balls. After coming into contact with humans, she had seen this magical prop many times, and Eddie had also privately introduced her to detailed knowledge about Poké Balls.

So when Eddie asked her if she wanted to enter the Poké Ball, she nodded decisively.

Eddie was not surprised by this. His mother was very lazy and she would always follow behind him with a whip to urge him on during training. Now that she had the chance to take a nap in the Poké Ball, she certainly wanted it more than willing.

After Eddie finished breakfast, Officer Jenny stood up and said, "I will take you to the orphanage now. I have already greeted the director there. She will make arrangements for you when we get there."

Eddie nodded, full of anticipation for his future life.

Before going to the orphanage, Officer Jenny took Eddie to take a bath, helped him tidy up his messy hair, and bought him a suitable set of clothes.

Eddie was very grateful for this and felt that Sister Jenny was so thoughtful.

The clothes Eddie wore before were given to him by one of Captain Sanders's team members. Even though that team member was not tall, his clothes were still too big for Eddie, an eight-year-old child, and Eddie had difficulty walking.

After some grooming, Eddie's appearance changed drastically. Although his skin was still dark, he could be considered a handsome young man.

Eddie is very satisfied with his appearance.

Officer Jenny looked around Eddie and then said jokingly, "Hmm...very good. Director Eleanor will definitely like you!"

...

The geographical environment of Coumarine City is very special. It is close to the sea on one side and the mountains on the other side. The two sides are divided into two by the light rail that runs across the entire city.

The prosperous areas of the city, such as commercial areas, residential areas, tourist areas, etc., are all distributed on the sea side, while pastures, farmlands, orchards, etc., are on the mountain side. It is precisely because of this clear distinction that the city got its name.

The Bluebird Orphanage where Eddie is about to settle is located on the side of the mountain.

Riding on the light rail train, the two quickly crossed a cliff, and not far above the cliff was the Bluebird Orphanage.

Standing at the door of the orphanage, Eddie carefully looked at this place where he might stay for a long time in the future.

The orphanage does not cover a large area. There are only three houses in total, which are located together in the shape of a U, with a small courtyard in the middle.

When the two arrived here, there was a woman in her forties hanging clothes in the yard.

When the woman saw Officer Jenny and the little boy beside her, she immediately put down her laundry, walked over quickly and said, "Officer Jenny, you're here! Is this the child who is going to live with us?"

Officer Jenny nodded and said, "Yes, this child's name is Eddie. I'll ask you to take care of him from now on. His situation is special and there are some obstacles in language communication. Please pay more attention to him."

Officer Jenny told the director everything about Eddie's situation.

After explaining everything to the director, Officer Jenny asked Eddie to release Selene, and then said to him through Selene's mouth: "Listen to Director Eleanor more in the future. If you encounter difficulties, you can go to the police station and ask me for help."

Eddie nodded solemnly and thanked Officer Jenny again.

After Officer Jenny left, Director Eleanor took Eddie's hand and led him to the yard while introducing the situation of the Bluebird Orphanage.

"My name is Eleanor, and I'm the director of this orphanage. You can call me Director Eleanor, or you can call me Grandma Eleanor..."

The Bluebird Orphanage is not very large, with only one staff member, Director Eleanor, and not many orphans. There are only six children now, plus the newcomer Eddie, a total of seven.

It is precisely because the Bluebird Orphanage has a small population and a simple atmosphere and environment that Officer Jenny placed Eddie here.

Eddie was listening attentively to Director Eleanor's introduction to the situation in the orphanage, when he suddenly noticed a few little heads in the corner not far away looking over here furtively.

Director Eleanor also noticed them, so she stretched out her hand and called out to them loudly, "What are you doing? Come over here quickly. Let me introduce our new members to you."

Just like that, four little guys came out from the corner shyly, three boys and one girl, all of whom looked younger than Eddie.

"This is the new brother Eddie. You must get along well with him in the future." Director Eleanor first introduced Eddie and Selene to the children, "And this is Selene, brother Eddie's family member. You must treat Selene as kindly as you treat brother Eddie."

"We know, Director Grandma!" The four children shouted in unison, especially those who looked at Selene with curiosity in their eyes.

The director then introduced four children to Eddie.

The tallest boy is called Oliver, who is six years old and looks like a lively and active little guy; the next is Max, who is the same age as Oliver and seems to have a more quiet personality.

Below them are five-year-old Diana and four-year-old Arthor.

Diana seemed to be a bit shy; she hid behind Max from beginning to end, not daring to look directly at Eddie and Selene. Arthor seemed to be a bit outgoing; if Diana hadn't pulled him, he would have rushed to Eddie and Selene.

In addition to the four present, there are two other children in the orphanage, one named Eli and the other named Daisy.

Daisy is just a one-year-old baby and is currently sleeping in the house, so we won't talk about her for now.

The other one is the oldest child in Bluebird Orphanage, named Eli, who is nine years old. However, he is not at home now but goes to school.

Although the Bluebird Orphanage is small, it was actually established with official investment from Coumarine City. In other words, Director Eleanor is still a government employee.

The children who are taken in by this orphanage have a very good benefit, that is, they can go to public schools for free after they turn seven years old.

Of course, the government will only support you to complete the most basic studies. If you want to continue your studies, you will have to bear all the expenses yourself.
