Chapter 39 - Chapter 38

"Okay, you go out first. I want to be alone for a while."

"Alright, Grandpa."

Felix left the study room and went back to his bedroom. He knew that Grandpa was the one who was suffering the most. An elder watching the younger generation die—he had already lost his lover, son, and daughter-in-law. Now his grandson's life was also hanging by a thread.

In the study, only Grandpa Tang was left. He closed his eyes, and tears started falling. He had thought about not doing the surgery. At least the person would still be alive, and he could still have hope.

But he knew that his grandson would definitely want to wake up, even if there was only a small chance.

What he said to Felix wasn't just for him—it was also for himself. He had to mentally prepare for everything. He had to make sure not to blame anyone if something went wrong. He clearly understood how crazy a person could become when they couldn't handle the pain. It was easy to blame others.

No one knew how much time passed, but Grandpa Tang finally left the study and went back to his bedroom to rest.

The next morning, after breakfast, Grandpa Tang said, "Girl, please do the surgery for your Brother Tang. Do we need to prepare anything?"

"Grandpa Tang, we need one operating room and a full body checkup for Brother Tang. If there's no problem, we can do the surgery tomorrow."

"Alright, I'll arrange everything. Let's go to the hospital together later. If you want to know anything, you can learn it during the checkup today."

"Okay."

After that, they all went to the hospital together. Grandpa Tang directly took Sienna to see the hospital director and explained his decision. The director looked at Sienna after hearing it.

His face was full of disbelief. "Sir, I know you're worried about Commander Tang, but you can't just go to anyone because you're desperate."

Grandpa Tang said, "Director, I know what I'm doing. I trust this girl."

The director looked at Sienna and asked, "Girl, how many years have you been a doctor? How many surgeries have you done?"

"Ah, I've known how to do it since I had memory. But I don't think I've ever done a surgery."

When he heard that, the director looked at Grandpa Tang and said, "Sir, you heard her. Isn't this a joke?"

Grandpa Tang looked at Sienna and asked, "Girl, you've known how to do it since you had memory? You've known since you were little? Then why haven't you done a surgery?"

"No, it's not like that."

Rowan quickly stepped in, "Grandpa Tang, there's something behind this. This place is not suitable for explaining."

The director was curious, but they didn't continue, which made him even more curious. He quickly said, "What's the secret? Why is it not suitable to say it here?"

After he said that, everyone looked at him. The director felt awkward. He realized that he was the reason they couldn't talk openly.

"Um... okay, you talk. I'll leave first." Then he walked out, turning his head back every few steps, his face clearly saying, "Please call me back, quickly call me back."

After he left, Rowan said, "Before, Sienna almost died. After she woke up, she suddenly knew medicine—both Chinese and Western. But we're not sure which one she's better at. She also lost her past memories. But she really does know how to heal people."

After hearing this, Grandpa Tang looked at Sienna in shock and asked, "Then, does she have anything special about her?"

"Hmm? What do you mean by that, Grandpa Tang?"

Seeing Rowan's expression, Grandpa Tang realized he misunderstood and said, "No, that's not what I meant. I'll explain it to you later when we're home. It's not good to talk about it here."

"Okay."

Felix then opened the door. After the director came back in, Grandpa Tang said, "Director, please make the arrangements. This is my own grandson. I would never harm him. If anything happens, we'll take responsibility."

"Alright then."

After various checks, Sienna looked at the latest results and said, "It's fine. We can start the surgery tomorrow."

Hearing this, Grandpa Tang and Felix both breathed a sigh of relief.

They went home, had dinner, and after that, Grandpa Tang spoke, "Let's go to the study."

Once inside, Grandpa Tang said, "I want to tell you something from the past, so you'll understand why I asked you these questions."

The three of them looked at Grandpa Tang, waiting for him to continue.

"It was when we first started the war, some people helped us. Some of them had special skills, and later, monks and Taoists joined. After the war ended, they left, but some stayed. Now, there's only one left. In the past two years, as people started rejecting superstitions, many of them disappeared."

"Grandpa, this doesn't seem related to your question," said Felix.

Grandpa Tang glanced at him and continued, "When I was a company commander, I heard a Taoist say that some people experience a big change and end up having strange encounters. But for every gain, there's a loss. Some may be reborn, but at a great cost, while others might learn things that others can't."

Hearing this, Rowan tightly held Sienna's hand, feeling nervous.

He asked, "Grandpa Tang, who is the one who's been staying?"

"I can't tell you. His identity is confidential, and he himself is almost like a secret."

Rowan felt disappointed by the answer. Sienna spoke, "I lost my memory."

"What did you learn?"

"Medical skills and martial arts. The rest are just daily skills, like cooking."

Hearing this, Grandpa Tang said, "Rowan, do you know anyone skilled in medicine over there? Someone with good medical skills, but no longer alive? If so, arrange for someone to teach her."

"I'll need to check carefully, but even if we find someone, we can't say that they taught her. Sienna lost her memory."

"Can't you just say it's your guess? It's all to fool people."

Rowan understood after hearing this.

The next morning, when Sienna came downstairs, Grandpa Tang said, "Sienna, come eat. After breakfast, we'll head to the hospital."

"Okay, Grandpa Tang."

When they arrived at the hospital, the director had everything ready. He approached Sienna and said, "Little girl, may I come in and watch? How many assistants do you need? The people are all here, you can choose."

"Yes, you can come in and help me. No need for anyone else."

The director asked, "Are you sure? No need for anesthetists, nurses, or anyone else?"

"That's fine. But can you handle it? Should we find someone else?"

The director quickly replied, "I'm fine, no problem."

"Okay, let's get started."

The director arranged for the patient to be taken into the operating room and then went to change and sterilize.

Soon, both entered the operating room, and the door was closed behind them.
