Chapter 1 - The Beginning

May 19, 2016.

For Dahlia, that day was completely ordinary. At the age of 21, she did not have many responsibilities.

As an only child, she didn't see her parents very often.Due to their jobs, her parents, one of whom was a lawyer and the other a doctor, we're unable to spend much time with her.To make up for their limited presence, they ensured she received a big amount of pocket money each month.

She had been an avid reader since she was young and practiced martial arts daily. She arrived home at approximately 5:45 p.m.After cleaning the house, eating, bathing and doing her homework, she lay down on her bed at around 9 h30 p.m. to read her new book.

At the end of the novel, the dragon gave himself up for the human princess aware that she had never fallen in love with him and was just using him.She thought that the dragon was very foolish. Why would you devote your life to someone who has no feelings for you?

While Dahlia was pondering about this, at the same time, far away in the star-filled sky, out of sight of human eyes, a large vortex appeared and disappeared as quickly as it had come.

After thinking about it and drinking a small glass of water, Dahlia got ready for bed. She would have liked to continue reading, but she has French class tomorrow. As she lay down on her bed, she was about to turn off her night light.Suddenly, she heard someone calling her name.

"Hello, Dahlia!"

Dahlia heart jumped slightly although her face didn't show it and she turned her head towards the slightly overexcited voice. Before her, in the air, was a strange creature. It looked like a creature from a mythical story.A mix between a panda and a dragon. It had a backpack on its back and a book with a multicolored pen in its hands.

Dahlia thought she had read too many novels and was starting to see things.Dahlia blinked two or three times and even pinched herself until it hurt.Yep, she thought. This isn't a hallucination or a dream, otherwise I wouldn't feel anything.

Dahlia was pragmatic and didn't trust appearances, even though it didn't appear to be very evil. She decided to play it safe. Playing dumb was out of the question because this thing knew her name, which implies it knew of at least some superficial information about her, but she also had to be careful not to be too smart. I need to respond as any ordinary person would in this scenario. It took no more than a few seconds for her to come up with this plan in her mind.

"Hi....Umm....May I ask who are you and what you are doing in my room?"

She said with just the right amount of hesitation.

The being, who was clearly content with her polite tone, responded.

"My name is Aurum Maciluisitopil Tranigeonia Satonasox.I acknowledge that my name may be challenging for humans, thus please refer to me as Aurum. I have come to give you a mission that is of utmost importance.

"A mission? Like in fantasy stories and movies? But... why me?"

Dahlia said to Aurum in a confused tone.

"This is your destiny, Dahlia. No one is more qualified than you for this significant task!"

Aurum responded in a calm tone.

Dahlia put on a show of being taken aback by the reply, but in reality, she didn't buy Aurum's nonsense for a second. She mentally rolled her eyes. She certainly wasn't the top human being on the planet, as there were numerous individuals who were superior to her.

Furthermore, she considered him to be quite dubious.Too much so.What reason would a superior being like Aurum, clearly non-human, have for conveying a mission to someone as ordinary as a human? If the task was truly that "crucial," why wouldn't he take it on personally?

There's something not clear about this story.

Dahlia quickly gathered her thoughts, determined not to get involved in any mission. Unlike the impulsive girls and boys from the transmigration stories she had read, she was smart enough to avoid unnecessary risks. She understood that asking for information would likely trap her into accepting the so-called "mission," whether she wanted to or not.

With a gentle, apologetic tone, she said to Aurum, "I'm truly sorry, Aurum, but I can't take on this mission. My family depends on me right now, and I need to be there for them. I'm confident you'll find someone better suited."

In truth, her parents didn't actually need her care—but Aurum didn't have to know that.

It took Aurum a few seconds to react.

"Huh?"

In Aurum's mind, he was sure she would accept his proposal. After all, according to the species records he had read, humans were considered to be very curious and greedy. As per his plan, she was meant to accept his offer, after which he would transport her to the novel's world to avert its impending destruction.Once this was accomplished, his task would be complete, leaving him free to go home, relax, and indulge in the new K-dramas that had just been released.

Aurum raises his voice, his tone a mix of desperation and determination as he exclaims that no one else but Dahlia has the ability to see this mission through to the end, insisting that it must be her. His words hang heavy in the air, carrying the weight of both urgency and expectation. Dahlia, however, tilts her head slightly, her expression carefully crafted into one of subtle regret. With a soft yet firm delivery, she responds, almost as though she wishes things could be different.

Apologizing in a measured tone, she declares her inability to assist him before turning her gaze away, leaving her true feelings cloaked in mystery.

Aurum fixes his gaze on her, scrutinizing her with a calm intensity that lingers for a few seconds longer than expected.

Finally, he exhales softly, the sound carrying with it an unmistakable air of resignation and quiet despair, like the weight of his internal conflict is compressing the very air around him. "I didn't want things to escalate to this point," he murmurs, the weariness etched into his tone betraying his inner turmoil. "But it seems I have no choice." Though his expression remains composed, the regret and moral unease simmer just beneath the surface.

Every fiber of his being rebels against what he is about to do, fully aware that it defies not only his own ethical standards but also the firmly established principles that underpin the Galactic Interleaved Systems—a vast interdimensional network whose rules are sacrosanct.

He knows all too well that this decision will forever stain his reputation, closing countless doors to future opportunities and inviting waves of criticism and condemnation from every corner of society. His name may soon be synonymous with betrayal and dishonor. Yet despite the certainty of the fallout, the weight of this singular truth presses upon him: there is no alternative. If he hesitates or chooses inaction, disaster will strike with catastrophic results.

The very fabric of that novel's world teeters on the brink of obliteration, its existence threatening to unravel completely. Such a calamity would cause devastation far worse than the ethically fraught act he is preparing to commit—the act of forcibly pulling an unsuspecting human being into an entirely different dimension.

It's a cruel and desperate gamble, but one that might be the only way to avert utter annihilation. In this moment, faced with impossible choices, Aurum steps into the shadows of his own conscience, knowing that sometimes survival means carrying unbearable guilt.

Dahlia stands as the sole being capable of crossing into this world, her existence uniquely intertwined with its essence. Should anyone else attempt to breach its boundaries through forceful means, they will face inevitable obliteration.

So far, one hundred entities have made the attempt, each meeting their demise in the process. Among the numerous individuals, there were a dozen who counted as his friends. The sacrifices have left an unbreakable warning etched into the fabric of reality—another death cannot and must not occur. The path is sealed, with no alternate escape or solution in sight.

That world permits no compromise; it bends only to her presence and no other.

He will ensure Dahlia's parents receive proper compensation for the loss of their daughter. It is the least he can do.

Dahlia is far from foolish. Her pulse quickens at his words, sensing that Aurum is about to impose his will upon her.Sadly, she is merely human, and he possesses greater strength. Before she can respond, he wields his vibrant pen and chants a strange incantation from his floating spellbook, which morphs into a swirling portal that engulfs her, whisking her away to an unknown destination. Thus begins the tale of our protagonist.
