Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 8: Silk and Steel

6:00 AM — Penthouse Master Bedroom

The blinds rose slowly, sunlight washing over silk sheets and bare skin.

Shen Yinyin lay tangled in the satin bedding, her hair splayed over Zhenyu's chest. One of his hands rested lazily on her hip, fingers tracing circles over the soft curve.

Her lips were swollen from kisses, body marked from the night before.

"You didn't sleep," she murmured, without opening her eyes.

"I don't need to," Zhenyu said calmly, staring at the ceiling.

She lifted her head, eyes playful. "Then you have energy for one more round before I go?"

He didn't respond with words.

Instead, he rolled her beneath him — slow, deliberate — kissing her with unhurried intensity.

She moaned softly as his mouth traced her collarbone, her breasts, her stomach.

"I've claimed empires with less focus," she whispered, breath hitching.

He didn't stop.

Because in that moment, she wasn't his wife. She was his possession.

And he wanted to remind her of that.

Every. Inch.

7:32 AM — Afterglow

They lay silent.

She reached out, touching the faint scar under his ribs.

"This one… you never told me how it happened."

"A reminder," he said.

"Of what?"

"That even gods bleed when they forget the rules."

She stared at him for a moment.

Then stood.

"I'll be late. A board meeting with Shen Pharmaceuticals. They're pushing back on the merger."

He nodded. "Let them."

"You want me to pull pressure?"

"No," he said. "I want them to believe they have a chance."

Meanwhile — Feng Yun's Suite, Four Seasons Hotel

Feng Yun sipped espresso while watching a screen load encrypted files.

Shen Pharmaceuticals.

One of Zhenyu's hidden diamonds.

"Interesting," he muttered. "The wife handles this one."

A young assistant approached. "Should we release the merger leak to the press?"

Feng Yun shook his head. "No. Not yet. Let's see how the dragon defends his treasure first."

10:00 AM — Shen Pharmaceuticals, Boardroom

Shen Yinyin entered in a fitted black business suit, heels clicking like gunshots.

All eyes turned.

Her lipstick was blood red. Her gaze colder.

One board member—Liu Jingsen, a veteran CEO with political ties—stood.

"We reject the merger, Mrs. Li. Your proposal undervalues our stake. We suspect market manipulation."

She smiled.

And placed a thick file on the table.

Inside: full financial audits, buried sexual harassment complaints involving Jingsen, and a transcript of a secret bribery meeting two years ago.

"You want me to speak first," she said sweetly, "or should I?"

Jingsen's mouth went dry.

The room fell silent.

Yinyin took her seat.

"Motion to approve the merger?"

Everyone raised their hand.

She didn't smile. She didn't have to.

11:30 AM — Penthouse Balcony

Zhenyu received the update via secure line.

"All done," the voice said. "She broke Jingsen in two minutes."

Zhenyu leaned back in his chair.

"She's learning."

A new message blinked on his tablet:

Unknown Sender:"You trained her well. I wonder how she'll react when she finds out what you did to her brother." — FY

Zhenyu didn't flinch.

He simply stood, walked to the mirror, and straightened his shirt collar.

"Let the games begin."
