The last thing Kai remembered seeing was the view of a car rushing in, nearly killing his friend until he pushed him out of the way.
He remembered not even thinking about what he was doing, just rushing straight into action without a care for his safety. Just like him.
But of course, all actions have consequences, and it looks like Kai is now facing one of the biggest ones yet; his surroundings upon waking up are entirely unfamiliar to everything he had experienced before.
It didn't look like a doctor's office, which is what he would've expected after waking up from a car accident. As a matter of fact, the room he woke up in was extremely different than anything he had ever seen.
The room was built in a strange style, made in some other kind of strange material he couldn't name. He at least could describe the material, as a black stone with a look like obsidian, but denser, more black, almost enough to suck in the light. Looking even closer, he noticed a very subtle flicker in the wall, like the fire the material was forged with was trapped within, just a bit.
The strange material only made up the walls, with the other furniture in the room being made out a simple dark lacquered wood. Honestly, it all looked very fancy, just… old. Or maybe old isn't the right word for it, as the furniture all looked brand new. But the make of it was something that looked like an antique's, just with designs even more exquisite than thought possible by human, or even robot hands. Hell, the freaking bedside table had a design that would make Van Gogh weep.
He took in the rest of the room, surmising that he was in a bedroom based on the large bed he was currently laying in. It was a very nice bedroom, especially compared to the basic one bedroom apartment he had before. Just this room was bigger than his old apartment by quite a large factor. He also happened to notice a metal tray with a domed lid sitting on a small table in front of the bed; he couldn't place the smell coming from it, but the growling in his stomach didn't care too much about what his brain was thinking right now.
He reached up to pull the covers off, pushing them down and seeing his body for the first time, bringing him a major shock.
This was definitely not his body.
Years before, he was self conscious about his weight and decided to start lifting weights. It was difficult to get through at first, but after forcing himself to continue at it, he was able to get his weight under control, and even start working on defining his muscles. Eventually, he had attained his long-awaited dream; the coveted 6-pack. He worked hard for that, to the point where it would give him a sense of comfort looking at it.
And so where the actual fuck is his 6 pack, and why does he feel like a pile of twigs given life?
'Ok, this is definitely an issue' Kai thought to himself, finally realizing the gravity of the situation. 'How many years was I out?!' He had heard stories of people going into comas for years at a time, but he never would have thought HE would be one of those.
He moved his legs over the side of the bed, almost having to use his hands just to help move his legs over.
'This is pitiful… what the hell am I supposed to do about this now?'
It hurt him immensely to see his years of progress go down the drain, but in the end, there wasn't anything he could do about it; time to move forward and see what he can do.
He looked around for a phone or something, anything to tell him the date. He had to know at least how old he was by now. While looking around, he opened a door leading to the bathroom, finally stopping in front of a mirror.
What he saw led him to finally speak out loud for the first time since waking up-
"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON."
