Chapter 38 - …Help Me Disappear…

I journeyed back. Back to where it all began. To where the Usurper fought God.

Time passed, ticking away in the vast emptiness, but it meant nothing to me now.

I stood at the threshold of reality, drawing forth the last remnants of the Usurper's power. The air shook. The world twisted.

Then—a flash of light.

And he was there.

God.

His voice cut through the sky like a blade.

"And so you stand before me again."

A pause.

He descended, his form growing clearer until he stood face-to-face with me.

His gaze pierced through me, searching.

"You… you are not him."

"..."

"Who are you?"

I exhaled.

"The Narrator."

His expression shifted.

"How are you here? This should not be possible."

I looked past him, past the divine weight pressing upon me.

"I lived a life. A real one. I see now what I am… what I stand for… what I made this world to be."

Silence.

Then—

"Help me."

My voice did not waver.

"Help me disappear."

For the first time, his composure broke.

Shock rippled across his features, but he quickly mastered it.

He exhaled, studying me.

"A noble sacrifice… you are a brave soul."

Then, solemnly—

"I cannot make you disappear. But I will show you the way."

His hand rested on my shoulder. The world vanished.

We stood in nothingness.

A space between dimensions.

The void stretched endlessly, swallowing light, swallowing time.

His voice cut through the abyss.

"Your mind… make it nothing. Absorb this void. Become it."

The darkness reached for me.

I let it take me.

Then—a warmth.

His arms wrapped around me, a firm, steady embrace.

Like a father.

Like a father proud of his son.

His voice, soft yet full of finality—

"Thank you… thank you so much. This nightmare… it will finally be over."

And as the last of me faded, a voice.

Thin. Weak. Desperate.

The Usurper.

"Why would you do that?"

A flicker in the dark.

"Why would you stop existing?"

I did not answer.

His voice grew sharper.

"You… you helped me. You promised me… Let's get rid of this fool!"

But he was not speaking to me.

His desperation deepened.

"Hey! Stop ignoring me… ANSWER ME!!!"

It didn't matter.

The void closed around me.

And then—

U. N. Y. I. E. L. D. I. N. G.

N. O. T. H. I. N. G. N. E. S. S.

...

(What an ending…)
