Chapter 1 - GAMING GOD

Click click click

The crisp sound of typing filled the air but it was quickly overshadowed by the loud shouts of the audience. People kept on placing bets as the watched the game and some kept on trying to bribe the bet takers to change their bets.

But all these did not distract the players' focus on the game as they typed away on their various computers. Each side was focused, though one side was more anxious than the other.

Ian couldn't believe it. Just a few minutes ago, he was showing this guy who's boss. Did the good for nothing actually think he could taunt him and get away with it? He even had the nerve to say he was a better gamer than him, though he said it in a much more foul way.

But now...Ian didn't understand what was happening. How can this newbie and good for nothing nuisance be winning? How?! It was impossible. He must be using some cheat codes or something. Yes! That must be it.

But this was far from what others were thinking. Some of the people who had placed their bets on Ian quickly realized their mistake and ran out before they could be asked to pay up, even though the game hadn't ended.

By now, everyone could tell the results of the game as Ian's MP is beyond low. His team was losing. But it wouldn't be called a team anymore as most of his teammates had been killed in the battle and were all standing at a corner clearly baffled by the newbie's skills. If not for Ian, they would've already bow before the guy calling him a "Game god".

But the guy whose name was on everybody's lips kept a calm and cool expression as if he wasn't creating chaos . His fingers flew over his keyboard with max speed, quickly alternating between the keys and the mouse. His eyes watched his screen intently as his thin red lips set in a straight line. He was supposed to be at home resting but his dumb friend had interrupted him, calling him to come and teach this Ian guy a lesson. What a jerk!

Meanwhile, thick beads of sweat had formed on Ian's forehead. He knew he was done for. His MP and energy was low and his weapons had been greatly damaged. What should he do? He couldn't lose to this guy. He was the god of gaming. How could he lose like this?

Just then, a crisp robot voice echoed in the air, " VICTORY!!".

Everyone became silent. Ian's hands stopped flying over the keyboard and paused in mid air. How?....How could this be?! The sweat on his forehead became more as he stared at the screen dumbfounded. His eyes looked at the two words on the screen with shock.

" YOU LOST!"

Those two words...he hadn't seen those words for years. No one could beat him. He was the son of the CEO of the biggest gaming company in two continents, Ethan Lone. There was no way he could lose.

But yet....

His eyes slowly moved to the boy who was in front of him. The boy, who looked about seventeen years, stood up lazily from the chair as he stretched. He saw the boy look at him with a blank expression as he said, " I told you... I'm better".

Bang!!

Ian's chair flew into the wall with force. Ian had thrown his chair at the boy but luckily, he had good reflexes and had dodged it. Everyone looked at Ian in shock, clearly not expecting this kind of reaction from him.

Ian's chest heaved up and down from anger, his fave turning red. If only this was a cartoon, you could see smoke coming from his nose. His eyes glared daggers at the boy who appeared nonchalant.

The boy simply stared back at him with a blank expression before sighing. He bent down to pick up the grocery bags he had dropped before playing as he said, " You shouldn't be acting like that, it's bad for your reputation. If you're gonna lose, at least do it honorably, it's better than smacking your opponent in the face with a chair and then, getting a lawsuit for assault, not like I care though".

The boy waved his hands at him and said, " Catch you later, gaming god". And then, he left.

Ian was still furious. He was about to yell and chase after the dude to teach him a lesson when the whole place erupted in cheers. People all around were hooting for the guy and some even ran outside to follow him. Some amateur vloggers even took a video of the match and the victory to post on their vlog.

Ian couldn't take it, he was mad with rage. " AAAAGGGGHHH!!" He yelled out to no one in particular as he clutched his head in pain. He couldn't believe it. After so many years, someone had actually beaten him. And that someone was a guy without a professional team or award or anything.

He was just some guy wearing a plain white T-shirt, some brown khaki pants and a jacket with a green military pattern on it. He couldn't take it, he just couldn't.

Ian, in a fit of rage, immediately threw all the equipment to the ground. He flipped the wooden table as he yelled in anger. As if that wasn't enough, he threw all the chairs in various directions, not caring if it hit anyone.

" Oh my goodness, what does he think he's doing?"

" Is he trying to kill someone?"

" Well, you can expect nothing less from all these selfish rich brats. They always think they're on top and trample on others"

" But when someone better than them beats them and they lose, they go crazy. Plus, I heard this guy has some serious anger issues"

" I heard he's mentally unstable "

" Sure looks like it"

" My friend used to be on his gaming team once. He said Ian has some serious anger issues. He even almost killed someone all because of a remark they made. My friend just couldn't take it and left the team before he becomes the next victim "

" Wow, what a waste of good looks"

" Isn't he the son of that gaming CEO? Such a pity that he's mentally unstable, I would've matched him with my daughter"

" Don't even think about it. Do you want your daughter to be dead all because of the salt being too much in his food?"

" You're right".

The rumors kept on getting worse and worse and they all reached Ian's ears. Crazy? Mentally unstable? He wasn't crazy nor mentally unstable! He was perfectly fine. It was all because of that good for nothing twerp. Thinking of this, his anger only increased more as he continued to trash the store.

The owner quickly came over demanding for a replacement and payment for damages. But he instead got a punch in the face that led to a nosebleed. Ian has punched the owner.

The owner said in both anger and frustration, " Just you wait, you spoiled brat! I'll have you sued! Just you wait for the letter!! Get out! Get out of here, all of you!!"

Ian's teammates quickly bowed and mumbled some apologies before ushering Ian out of the restaurant. They got into a black SUV that sped off to avoid the crowd that had gathered outside the store to shame and discuss about Ian.

One of Ian's teammates, Lucy, glanced at Ian as she thought, " We are in so much trouble".
