Chapter 2 - Luxurious Life?

To her surprise, Grayson stood in front of her.

He was ready in a plain white shirt with a bow tied to his neck, black pants with the same black belt, and a white apron in his hands.

His hair was sleeked back by the gel, showing separate tufts of his hair, but a little tuft was wandering over his forehead.

"What are you up to?!" She said, her eyes grew wider, and she was amazed to see Grayson in such a costume.

"I am going to my job," he said, grabbing his bag and other stuff; he looked like he was in a hurry.

"What job?" She said in sheer curiosity, her mouth opened a little.

"Why are you sounding so weird? " I work in a pub," he replied, lifting his shoulders.

Emery's eyes opened, and her eyeballs came out of them. She felt no ground beneath her feet. The words fell on her like a big mountain. What she heard she was unable to believe.

She had always believed that Grayson was a rich kid. He looked very elegant and a decent young boy with the sharp features of an attractive boy. His lean body and his actions always made her believe that he was some kind of rich man.

She had always assumed that Grayson led a luxurious life filled with lavish parties and expensive tastes and navigated high society with wealth and privilege at his fingertips.

These assumptions had painted a picture of an uncertain and unfamiliar future.

That's why she decided to make him her husband.

"It doesn't make any sense!" " Why didn't you tell me before?" She screeched… anger clear on her face.

"Wait! " What does it have to do with anything?" he replied, clueless about Emery's raging behavior.

"Calm down and have some breakfast. " We will talk about this later." Trying to escape from the situation, he decided to leave.

Emery's mind raced as she struggled to process the unexpected news.

Her heart pounded with disbelief. How can he work at a place?

She took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions, wondering how she had missed such a significant detail about the man she thought she knew so well.

"I have to check on him. I think I was wrong in realizing who he is."

A sudden inner thought gathered around her head while heading straight to her father's room.

"Dad, I think something is wrong." She asked, forcing her breath out.

"What is it, my dear?" Mr. Richard replied in a spirit of inquiry.

"Dad! Listen to me carefully. I want you to get all the details and insights of Grayson. Where did he come from? What did he do? Everything!"

"But what happened, dear?".....

"I think I have made the wrong choice, Dad". Emery said abruptly.

"Don't play riddles with me. " Say what you want to say." His Dad was anxious to know what exactly could have happened.

"I'll tell you everything once you tell me all the information that I have asked for!"

"Okay, you will get it, but I am worried, so ask me before you do anything." His Dad said, putting his arm on her shoulder and trying to relax her.

Emery went back to her room, waiting for the information.

She was getting terrible thoughts in her mind. She tried to relax and asked for coffee from the maid.

Grayson arrived at his job, and his colleagues were waiting for him.

They were surprised by Grayson's wedding to such a prominent family in the city.

Grayson usually used to go to his job on a bus, so it usually took forty minutes for him to reach his workplace. He worked at a pub where his job was to serve liquor to the people there.

As he entered the pub, the cashier, Henry, nodded and smiled. "Congratulations, Grayson."

"Look, everyone, scumbag is here," Lucas spoke from a distance and could not be seen through the eyes of the Grayson.

This was the term everyone at his job used to address him.

"By the way! everyone should congratulate him for entrapping the most wealthy lady in the city." Lucas said from behind, putting his hand on Grayson's shoulder.

"There is a question from my side. How did you manage to get her? Did you tell her that you are very good at…. Obviously, nothing." Everyone laughed at the pub as he said that.

"Get off from me," Grayson said, pushing Lucas away from him.

"Do what you are supposed to do, and please don't interfere in my personal matter." He yelled; his eyes were strained, and his voice was breaking.

"OH wow, look, the lowlife is getting furious. We got terrified, huh…".

Lucas smirked and went behind the counter.

All the colleagues there laughed, looking at Grayson.

Grayson had not thought that the day after his wedding would start like this, but it was like a routine for everyone around him to mock and beneath him in any way possible.

"Hey, Grayson, you are late again!!". William shouted at Grayson, who was coming out of the office.

William was the owner of the pub. The most arrogant and ill-mannered person who doesn't know how to treat his employees.

"How many times I have asked you to get on time, you son of bitch!!!" William screeched again as Grayson kept quiet.

"Sir, actually, yesterday was my marriage, so that's why I woke up late." He uttered with his voice very low and clenched his jaws.

"I will not accept any of your excuses now. Stay with your wife and get the hell out of here. You are fired!!!."

"No, Sir, please, I promise this will not happen again". He begged for mercy.

"I will not repeat. Stay the fuck out of my property, you Pig!!!." He yelled while everyone there was stunned.

He left embarrassed and teared up. He felt like a total shit. He decided to go back to his wife, thinking that his wife was the only person on the planet that could understand him.

While he was heading towards home, big trouble was already waiting for him there…
