Chapter 6 - concerning

*a couple minutes later~~~

"Why do I have to wear such a grand dress? Do you have any basic pair of t-shirts and jeans or hoodies and joggers? Anything but this?"

"I apologize, my lady but I have trouble understanding your request. Also, this is not a grand dress at all, this is actually one the plain dresses you have. I choose this because I don't want you to wear a corset, afterall you're still not in good shape."

"Huh??"

This? Plain? I can't even refute her, she looks pleased dressing me up like a doll.

"You're now ready my lady, let's go outside."

Whatever, again I'll just go with the flow…

While we were walking outside the manor, I quietly observed the place. It's such a huge house for what ought to be just a summer villa, the design is stunning but seems quite outdated, like a manor you'll see in the Middle ages. There aren't that many people as well, but they all wear the same maid outfit though slightly coarser than what Rosen is wearing. Also, not too far away from us are two people wearing a bunch of silver metal plates, basically they look like a knight you'll see on TV.

"What the h*ll?"

I blurted out, Rosen looked at me with a confused look.

"Are you perhaps feeling any discomfort my lady?"

I avoided her gaze and just shook my head. I still don't like it when they call me my lady, I can't get used to it, I feel like I'm some kind of noblewoman or something especially now that I'm wearing a dress. I feel like I'm cosplaying and everyone around me is just playing along.

Although I knew deep inside how concerning everything I'm seeing right at this moment. I really don't plan to have an anxiety attack right now, so I'll just put everything at the back of my mind and focus on my goal.

After walking for a couple of minutes, I could clearly hear the sound of running water not too far away.

"We're close, my lady."

Rosen said and gave me that overly-concerned look again. I just pretended that I didn't see it.

I looked at the surroundings and I'm quite surprised with how beautiful and well-maintained this place is. I mean, even though it was nighttime when that unfortunate event had happened and I really couldn't see that clearly, I wasn't expecting this place to be like this. It almost feels like I'm going on a picnic instead of investigating.

When we got closer to the bridge, I was even more confused because the bridge looks different from what I remember. But I may be wrong as well, so I just brushed it off.

"My lady, this is where it happened…"

Rosen brought me to the place of her point of view at that time but this doesn't help me at all. I may need to get closer to the bridge.

"Rosen, can you tell me where I stood that day?"

"Huh? My lady… why do you ask that?"

She looked nervous, is she thinking I'm going to jump again?

"Rosen, you don't have to worry, I assure you that what you're thinking won't happen again."

"T-then promise me my lady…"

"I promise."

"Then, hold my arms."

Once I took her arms, we quietly walked closer towards the bridge. When we got closer, my heart started beating abnormally. My head felt heavy, and cold sweats started forming in my forehead.

"My lady, it's here… this is where… h-huh? My lady?! What's happening—-

I couldn't hear her clearly any more, when I stood at the place that Rosen pointed out all my senses suddenly felt unusually sensitive. Then my vision started to blur out, I felt cold sweats all over my body. My legs felt weak and my heart's beating like crazy. One after another, some unfamiliar memories keep appearing in my head. My head feels like it's going to crack and before I knew it, I lost consciousness.
