Chapter 8 - Chapter - 8 Personal Dimension

Some time had passed since the two had fallen asleep on the couch, wrapped in each other's arms. The quiet hum of machines in the lab had become background noise, blending into a soft lull that made everything feel distant and still.

Daisy stirred first.

Her eyes fluttered open slowly, adjusting to the dim light of the lab. For a moment, she didn't move—her mind catching up to where she was and who she was with. Then, a dull ache from her lower body reminded her of everything that had happened.

"Ugh…" she muttered under her breath, shifting slightly. "That was… definitely real."

She winced as she tried to sit up but paused when she felt Ash's arms still loosely around her waist. His head rested lightly against her shoulder, his breathing calm and even. His expression, usually energetic and stubborn, was peaceful now. Vulnerable, even.

Daisy looked down at him, brushing a bit of his messy hair out of his face. Her fingers lingered there, caught in a moment of unexpected tenderness.

"You brat…" she whispered with a small smile. "What did you do to me?"

She leaned back slightly against the couch cushion, letting out a slow exhale as she stared at the ceiling. Her heart was still fluttering, though the rush of emotions had calmed.

Her mind drifted—wondering how things might change now. What this meant for them. Whether she'd be able to look at him the same way tomorrow… and if he'd look at her differently too.

After a few minutes of silence, Ash stirred. His arms instinctively tightened around her, and he muttered something incomprehensible in his half-asleep state.

"Hey…" Daisy said gently, nudging him.

He groaned. "Mmh… five more minutes…"

Daisy rolled her eyes but smiled despite herself. "You're hopeless."

7-Year-Old Daisy's POV

----------

I kicked my legs back and forth in Grandpa's car, hugging my backpack on my lap. The sun was warm on my face through the window, and everything smelled like old books and lab stuff… just like Grandpa.

"Grandpa, where are we going?" I asked, leaning over a bit so I could see his face better.

He smiled without taking his eyes off the road. "We're going to visit someone very special today, Daisy. One of my students—Delia—just had a baby. I want to check in on her and see if she needs anything."

My eyes widened. "Aunt Delia had her baby?!"

He nodded. "She did. A healthy baby boy."

I sat up straighter in my seat, eyes sparkling. "So that means… her baby and my little brother are gonna be about the same age, right? That means I'll be the oldest! I have to protect them both!"

Grandpa chuckled and reached over to pat my head. "That's a very big responsibility. You're such a caring girl, Daisy."

I puffed my cheeks a little and crossed my arms. "Grandpa, stop patting my head like I'm a little kid…"

He laughed softly. "Even big girls can get head pats, you know."

---

When we got there, Aunt Delia looked tired but happy. She was sitting on the couch, holding a tiny baby wrapped in a soft blue blanket. His eyes were closed, and he made the smallest noises I'd ever heard.

Grandpa talked with her about how she was feeling and when she might come back to help at the lab. I didn't really listen—my eyes were stuck on the baby. His cheeks were chubby and red, and he had so much hair!

Then Aunt Delia looked at me with a warm smile. "Daisy, would you help look after Ash when I can't? Just keep him company sometimes?"

I nodded quickly. "Of course! I already decided I'd protect him forever!"

She giggled softly. "Thank you, sweetheart. He'll be lucky to have you around."

I looked at the sleeping baby again—Ash. He looked tiny now, but something about him felt… important. Like I'd always be part of his life.

*POV END*

---------

*Back to Present*

'Huh… is that why he felt important at that time?' Daisy blinked, her gaze distant as she lay there in the quiet aftermath, wrapped in a warm, shared silence. The soft rhythm of Ash's breathing beside her filled the room.

'He really did become someone special… someone important to me.'

She turned her head to look at him, his face relaxed and peaceful in sleep. A faint smile tugged at the corner of her lips.

It was strange—how one childhood promise, made on a sunny afternoon while she barely understood what it meant to protect someone, had become such a deep part of her heart.

Back then, he was just a sleepy baby in his mother's arms. And Now he was the one holding her close.

Daisy's fingers gently brushed a lock of hair from his face, careful not to wake him. Her chest ached in a soft, warm way—

She sighed quietly, nestling a little closer.

"…I think I'm in trouble," she whispered with a quiet laugh to herself. "You've really grown on me, Ash."

Daisy stared at the ceiling, her cheeks gradually turning pink as her thoughts drifted deeper.

But then, her expression shifted.

"...And yet," she mumbled to herself, "you've been nothing but a little troublemaker since the beginning."

She covered her face with a hand, half annoyed, half flustered.

"I mean—falling on top of me when you were just a toddler, grabbing things you shouldn't… always somehow landing face-first into my chest, or drooling on my neck whenever you clung to me as a baby…"

Her ears turned red at the memory.

"Once you even sucked on my finger while half-asleep and wouldn't let go until you drooled all over it—ugh! So embarrassing!"

And as her memories rushed in, more recent moments flashed through her mind. From accidental touches, too-long stares, awkward situations—and finally, everything that happened just earlier today.

Her whole face went red now.

"Ugh… idiot. If you're going to be like that," she muttered under her breath, curling up a little closer to him, "then you better take responsibility, got it?"

She gently poked his cheek while he slept beside her.

"If you don't… then I'll make sure you regret it."

Her pout softened into a small smile as she let herself relax again, resting her head beside his.

Ash stirred slightly in his sleep, his brows furrowing as he shifted closer to Daisy's warmth. A moment later, his eyes fluttered open, still hazy from rest.

"Mm… huh?" he mumbled, blinking at the ceiling before his gaze slowly turned to the girl curled up beside him.

Daisy was already looking at him. Her expression was unreadable—half pout, half something gentler.

"…Morning, sleepyhead," she said softly, poking his forehead.

Ash gave a confused smile. "Morning? It's not even bright out." He rubbed his eyes and then paused, realizing how close they were. His cheeks turned a bit red. "Uh… did we fall asleep like this?"

"You fell asleep first," Daisy replied casually, though she couldn't meet his eyes. "Snoring like a Psyduck."

Ash looked offended. "Hey! I don't snore!"

She chuckled, the mood lightening. "Well… maybe just a little."

A comfortable silence passed between them. Ash glanced over, trying to read her mood. "Are you okay? I mean… after everything?"

Daisy gave him a sidelong glance, then turned her body slightly to face him more directly. "I should be the one asking you that. You're the one who—" she stopped herself, cheeks tinting. "…never mind."

Ash sat up a bit, his tone more serious now. "hey do you remember when I promised you that I will marry you and take care of you ?I meant it when I said I'd take care of you. I don't regret anything."

Daisy blinked, then looked away quickly. Her heart skipped a beat. "Tch… you better not," she muttered, hugging a pillow to her chest. "You've already done so much… there's no backing out now." [A/N:- Like Brother Like Sister I guess all of them are tsun ~tsun~]

Ash smiled and reached over, gently brushing a lock of hair from her face. "Then let's take care of each other from now on ."

Daisy didn't reply right away, but her smile spoke volumes. She leaned her head against his shoulder. "Yeah… let's do that ."

---

Just as the quiet moment settled between them, a soft ding echoed in Ash's mind, followed by the unmistakable shimmer of a holographic pink screen flickering into view.

Ash flinched slightly, blinking at the sudden display. 'Ah—Ciel?!'

Before he could complete his sentence, Ciel's voice purred mischievously in his head.
