Chapter 8 - Killing the Goblin Captain!

The goblin captain froze for a moment, as if perplexed by how quickly the injury had vanished. It didn't expect that the young man in front of him could heal his injury that fast.

Looking at the stunned goblin, Kai took a deep breath as he rolled his left shoulder before pointing his sword at the goblin in front of him with a mocking smile.

That single carelessness forced him to acknowledge the goblin's true danger even though he was confident that at least he wouldn't be dead in the hands of a mere goblin captain.

The goblin responded with growling as its eyes burned with wariness and anger at the human who apparently might become its hardest enemy it had ever faced since Kai could heal himself that fast.

Realizing that it faced a really strong opponent, the goblin bared its jagged fangs and let out a thunderous roar as it used its [Battle Cry] skill.

The sound reverberated across the street, carrying an unmistakable command as all of the goblins who lurked in the vicinity immediately shifted their attention and flocked towards the goblin captain.

Fortunately for Kai, even though a few dozen goblins started to gather in his surroundings, not all of the goblins were flocking here since there were still more goblins that weren't coming as they had their enemies and targets.

Otherwise, there would be almost 200 goblins coming, causing him a big headache because it would be too taxing for him to kill them all.

"Tch, you just make me waste quite a bit of mana at this point." Kai clicked his tongue, his gaze shot toward the sudden wave of goblins flocking toward him.

He then raised his hand as he tilted his head and looked at the dozen goblin corpses behind him. A faint white-golden glow began gathering around his outstretched hand as he used the [Resurrection of the Dead] skill.

Immediately, the goblin corpses twitched and rose before the aura burst forth, revealing skeletal goblins with eyes that emitted a bright white-golden glow as they wore simple cloaks.

The goblin was stunned once again when it looked at the undead since it had never expected that the young man could also do necromancy things. It then puts aside its thoughts before shouting loudly, ordering the goblins to attack Kai or the undead.

Kai only spared a moment to glance at his newly formed undead legion and immediately ordered them to hold the incoming goblin, as he wanted to finish off the goblin captain and clean up the mess before starting his journey back to his home since he didn't know his parents' fate at the moment.

Kai dashed forward with the azure sword angled low to the ground, his movements swift enough to slice through the dusty air.

The goblin captain roared and charged itself forward, swinging its short sword down in a brutal arc meant to cleave Kai in two. Kai dropped his stance low, the azure sword gliding along the cracked pavement in a fluid motion.

Rather than parrying head-on, Kai sidestepped at the last second, allowing the goblin's blade to crash into the ground with a deafening sound. Jagged debris flew around them, but Kai ignored it while focusing on the creature's vulnerable side.

Kai thrust with a burst of speed, his sword skimming the goblin's leather-clad torso as it twisted away just in time, allowing his blade to carve a shallow wound across its ribs.

In response, the goblin retaliated instantly as it spun around in a deadly backhand swing that forced Kai to duck. Its blade whistled overhead, so close that Kai could feel the rush of air across his hair.

Kai then quickly slipped behind the goblin, slashing at the back of the goblin's knee as he intended to hinder its movement.

Sensing the strike, the goblin captain abruptly stomped down, cracking the pavement anew as it suddenly twisted its sword and collided with Kai's blade, nearly knocking the azure sword out of his grip.

The goblin snarled, swinging furiously once more. Kai noticed the slightest hesitation in the goblin's movement, it was only a split second when it adjusted to rebalance, but he still noticed it since he was an experienced fighter.

Kai then ducked under the goblin's arm, slashing the tip of the azure sword into its abdomen. A cry of pain tore from the goblin's throat as dark green blood spilled across the broken pavement.

Kai pressed his advantage, slashing a swift horizontal slash aimed at the goblin's neck and using the azure sword's skill [Azure Slash], intending to finish off the goblin captain as he already felt satisfied after testing his current strength for a while.

In a sudden flash of brilliant blue, the compressed mana burst forth along the blade's edge. The watery aura shimmered like a razor-thin wave, slicing toward the goblin with unstoppable force.

The goblin tried to bring its sword up to block, but the raging tide of mana hammered aside its blade, continuing into its neck in a swift motion. Blood arced through the air as the goblin's head flew free from its shoulders, and the body collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud.

A flick of the azure sword scattered droplets of blood across the ground. Despite the pain in his arms and the gleam of sweat on his brow, a faint smile tugged at Kai's lips, as this kill marked the beginning of his new journey after returning in time.

Looking at the notifications in front of him, Kai felt satisfied and noticed that his subordinate undead goblins were struggling since they were outnumbered.

"Time to finish the rest." Kai muttered, preparing himself to help his undead goblins before resuming his journey home, as an uncertain fate for his parents still lingered in his mind.

However, before he could even distribute his stats and help his undead goblins, he heard a loud, deafening sound coming from the dungeon gate's direction.

There were three goblin captains standing in front of the gate, seemingly just getting out of the dungeon as they looked around as if assessing the surroundings.
