Chapter 40 - 40

Freya looked at the person called "mom," who was full of kindness toward her. She couldn't keep a cold face and patiently explained.

The Lu family had good table manners. They didn't make slurping noises when drinking soup. Even when they were really hungry, they still ate slowly and chewed carefully.

So Freya just sat there eating sunflower seeds while watching them eat for 20 minutes before they finally finished. She thought to herself, "At this speed, they definitely won't get indigestion!"

"We're done eating, now I'll talk about something serious!" Freya said.

The few people who had just put down their bowls and chopsticks all looked at her, their eyes full of the same doubt: what kind of nonsense is she up to now?

Freya

Even though her face was already as thick as a wall, she still couldn't take being stared at by so many people.

Suddenly, Freya's ears twitched.

"Someone's coming! I'll hide first. I have something to tell you later."

Freya quickly packed up her things, walked out of the cowshed, and hid behind a tree next to it.

Although she wasn't afraid of trouble, she also didn't want to cause any. If she could avoid it, she would.

Less than a minute later

"Ugly Lao Nine, where did you get the good food?

Such capitalist behavior! I'm going to report you right now!"

A sneaky man came into the cowshed, his eyes staring lewdly at Madam Wan like he wanted to tear off her clothes.

Father Lu's face turned dark, and he stepped forward to block the wrinkled old man trying to get close to Madam Wan.

This old guy was over forty and still hadn't married. He was known as the village's scoundrel bachelor and a shameless rogue. Ever since their family had been sent to this place, he kept coming over to harass them, trying to take advantage of his wife.

"Go."

"I don't know what you're talking about. We can barely eat, where would we get good food?" Father Lu denied.

"Hmph, still pretending. I already smelled eggs and chicken. I just lost some eggs and a chicken at home, must be you who stole and ate them! Bad conduct! I'm going to tell Captain Shan. He's my nephew! I'll make sure you get publicly criticized!"

Mr. Lao narrowed his small eyes, full of bad intentions. His gaze still roamed all over Madam Wan.

"I, I don't want to be publicly criticized. Dad, I'm scared!" Yaran trembled as she remembered when they first arrived, getting hit with vegetable leaves and stones, and hearing cruel words. Her body shook from the trauma, and she clung tightly to Father Lu's hand.

"Oh, don't want to be criticized? Fine. Let me borrow your mother for a night, and I promise nothing will happen!"

Mr. Lao licked his lips and revealed his real goal.

"You filthy old pervert! So shameless! Aren't you afraid we'll tell Captain Shan?" Madam Wan's face turned red with anger. She had never used bad words before, so this was already her limit.

"This combat power is too weak." Freya commented while chewing on sunflower seeds.

"Hmph, do you think he'll believe me or you?" Mr. Lao shamelessly reached out to touch Madam Wan.

"Stop it!" Grandpa Lu's face turned red, veins bulging, but his body was weak and he couldn't stand up.

"Take your dirty hand away!" Father Lu smacked his hand away.

"Hey, you dare hit me? A broken shoe, a damn dog from the lowest class, a cheap slut, she's lucky I even like her.

Believe it or not, I could beat you to death right now and no one would say a word!"

Mr. Lao swung his fist at Father Lu's face.

"You bastard, you dirty old donkey! You want to die, daring to touch my people!"

Freya saw Mr. Lao trying to take advantage of Madam Wan and was about to rush out, but she was a step too late. Mr. Lao's punch landed squarely on Father Lu's face.

Freya quickly dashed out from behind the tree, rushed into the cowshed, and kicked Mr. Lao hard at the back of his knee. His knees gave out, and with a loud "thud," he fell to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.

"Ow! Who's the blind bastard that dared to kick me?" Mr. Lao screamed in pain from hitting the ground hard. He tried to stand up for revenge.

Freya didn't give him the chance. She lifted her leg and kicked him hard in the neck. The force made Mr. Lao roll on the ground before stopping.

"You, Freya the educated youth!" Mr. Lao lay on his back and guessed who it was under the moonlight.

"That's right, it's your ancestor!" Freya stepped on his chest and pressed hard. A cracking sound followed, two of his ribs broke.

"Ah, ah… it hurts! It's killing me! You bitch, how dare you stand up for that stinking intellectual? I'm going to report you!" Mr. Lao broke out in a cold sweat, but his mind was still clear, and he threatened without fear.

"Freya, hurry and leave. If someone comes, you won't be able to explain," Father Lu, his face red and swollen, came forward trying to pull her away.

"Dad, don't worry. I've got plenty of ways to deal with him!"

Freya moved Father Lu's hand away.

She didn't realize she had just naturally called him "Dad," a word she had struggled to say before.

"You want to report me? If I don't take care of you today, it would be a shame for your heroic act of reporting me!"

Freya punched him in the face.

"You bastard, raised by no one. You dare hit my father?

Do you even know the Lu family is under my protection?

A toad dreaming of eating swan meat, you worthless scum.

With your belly button growing on your back, you must be out of your mind!"

Slap slap slap, the sound echoed non-stop. Freya used both hands to slap him while scolding, beating his face until it looked like a pig's head.

Freya leaned down and stared at Mr. Lao. Her eyes were cold and full of killing intent, as if he were already dead. She hated anyone who touched the people she wanted to protect.

Mr. Lao trembled in fear.

"You disgusting old man, not even looking at what you are, trying to take advantage of my mom. Toad dreaming of swan meat. I'll kick you to death!"

Yaran placed her little nephew on the wooden bed and also came forward to kick and hit him.

"Beat him. If he dies, we'll throw him into the river. A scumbag like this, if we don't deal with him, he'll stick to us like a leech and keep harming us.

You can't guard against a thief every day, there's only catching them.

Father Lu, you're not as decisive as Freya. She's swift and bold in handling things."

He had fought on the battlefield for years and could clearly sense the ruthlessness and murderous intent in Freya's actions.

His son followed the scholarly path and had the temperament of a bookworm, but it was his granddaughter who took after him. She acted immediately and without hesitation or fear.

Grandpa Lu felt quite proud.

Still, this girl's skills were sharp and clean. Who had taught her?

"I'm just worried Freya will get in trouble. She's the only one left in good shape in our family." Father Lu looked at Mr. Lao, whose mouth was stuffed with cloth and face was beaten beyond recognition, and stopped trying to stop her.

Go ahead and beat him. A person like this deserves death. If anything happens, he would take the blame himself.

"Yes, beat him to death. If they find out, I'll take the fall. Freya must not be in trouble." Madam Wan stepped forward and said, looking at the half-dead Mr. Lao with great satisfaction.

Since she was sent down here, the disgusting old man had been eyeing her, constantly trying to get close and take advantage of her. Just thinking about it made her sick.

"No. Big brother isn't home. I'm the backbone of the family now. As a man, I'll take the fall!" Walli stepped up with determination.
