Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

Alden groaned and stretched, his back hurt badly.

A brown-haired boy happened to pass by and spot Alden, the boy's eyes lit up for a moment before excitedly running over to his love as he calls it in his mind

"Alden!" The boy called out

Alden turned his head to see Caleb and smiled.

Caleb is Alden's best friend who may have had a crush on Alden since they were kids. Caleb is what Alden calls a super friend who always has his back

Caleb ran over and pulled Alden into a tight hug, a sharp pain shot through Alden as his back still ached badly.

"Caleb, let go for a minute!" Alden hurriedly said

Caleb let go of Alden and grinned "What? The great cocky Alden can't handle a simple hug???" He teased

Alden scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest, rolling his eyes, he sneered "You always bring the worst out of me"

Caleb rolled his eyes, a grin playing on his face as he threw an arm around Alden "Mister 'I always talk to myself when alone' hurt?"

Alden scoffed and looked away, his mind drifted back to last night in the woods and it was unsettling him very much

He looked back at Caleb who was looking at him expectantly to say something.

"You seem to be troubled my friend, what's the matter?" Caleb asked.

He looked at Alden with those adoring eyes that made Alden's heart flutter in strange ways he couldn't think of why.

"Just... Thinking about something" Alden answered absentmindedly.

Caleb's expression turned a bit worried and somewhat jealous, he always wanted Alden's attention to be on him when they were together

"What is it that's so precious that you ignore your best friend!?" Caleb asked, half teasingly half seriously.

Alden shrugged and walked forward, choosing to ignore the aching pain in his back "If I told you you'd think I'm crazy"

Caleb chuckled, his hand falling to his side as he took a step closer and stood beside Alden

"We're both crazy so tell me!" Caleb persisted

Alden sighed and picked up a stick nearby, a smirk tugging at his lips "And why should I?"

"Because I'm your best friend and I know all your secrets from the time when we were in the l—"

"Stop right there! Fine. I'll tell you"

Alden took a deep breath and walked forward, Caleb caught up easily

"If I told you I found an abandoned school and... Ghosts... There?" Alden said carefully.

Caleb blinked and stopped in his tracks, caught off guard by the ridiculous story

"What? It's like you're telling me a tiger flew and an airplane walked while a man cooked pancakes with a pot and a fish walked the human"

"Caleb, what the fuck?"

"Never mind but did you see an abandoned school and ghosts? That seems hard to believe"

An awkward silence stretched between

"I'll show you later tonight," Alden said

Caleb scoffed disbelievingly but nodded anyway

"Come to think of it, what day is it?" Caleb asked

"It's a Saturday, why?"

"No reason," Caleb said but his thoughts said the opposite coming along the lines of: 'Maybe tonight is the night I slam you down onto my bed and fuck you rough and hard'

Caleb plastered a smile on his face as they walked together

"Alden"

"What?"

"Where are we going?" Caleb asked

"I don't know I was following you" Alden replied, dumbfounded

Caleb chuckled "wanna crash at my place tonight?"

"Actually... I'm planning on running away and living in the abandoned school tonight..." Alden admitted.

Caleb's eyes widened, stopping walking abruptly to just stare at Alden with shocked eyes, his smile freezing to morph into a surprised expression

"What? Why? What's wrong? You're running away?? What about the police? Your mom? Me?" Caleb questioned, his questions being one after another

Alden shrugged "For the thrill and the fuck of it, I'm confident I could survive. The police won't come looking because my mom doesn't care and what about you huh? Come with me if you want," he said nonchalantly

Caleb's eyes widened further if it was even possible before running a hand through his hair, staring at the ground looking troubled in contemplation. Should he go? Should he let his love his life his everything be endangered? The answer was obvious.

Caleb grinned mischievously and nodded "I'll come with you," he said, throwing an arm around Alden's shoulder and leading Alden to his house

"Let's prepare tonight first and maybe at midnight we could go. What about your things?"

"My mom isn't home all night don't worry about it"

Alden grinned brightly making Caleb's heart skip a beat, a deep blush creeping onto his cheeks as he stared for a moment before covering his face with one hand and pulling away slightly.

He composed himself and acted like nothing happened

"Let's go" Caleb only said that to distract Alden from him and his face because a tint of pink was still on his face, he was lovesick of the fool beside him and he couldn't help it.
