Chapter 3 - Shadows in the Forest

We continued walking, the desolate forest growing denser and denser. The crooked trees seemed to be drawing closer, and the sinister shadows were getting more elongated.

"I don't recognize what it is," stated Lyra, looking around, "but I feel something's amiss."She lift up her hand, and a slight wind blew, scattering the leaves and branches.

Kael still in wolf form, came back to us, his ears pricked.

"I perceive something," he said, transforming back into a human. "There's something dangerous nearby."

Rowan looked around fearfully, but Elianore gently placed a hand on his shoulder, and he seemed to calm down.

"Don't worry," she said, smiling. "We're here to protect you."

Aria nodded, looking at Rowan sympathetically.

"I'll be ready to help if anything happens," she said.

Thorne analyzed the situation, his gray eyes scanning the surroundings.

"I think we should keep moving," he said. "We can't stay here."

Lila closed her eyes, her hands raised to the sky.

"I sense something," she said, opening her eyes. "Something bad."

I looked around, my illusions still active.

We continued walking, the desolate forest growing denser and denser. The crooked trees seemed to be drawing closer, and the sinister shadows were getting more elongated. I was producing illusions to screen us, but I felt something was wrong.

Lila closed her eyes, her hands raised to the sky.

"I sense something," she said, opening her eyes. "Something bad."

As we continued walking, we came across rotting corpses, their frail bodies mutilated and decomposed. Dull eyes were gouged out, and bruised flesh was torn away.

"Victims of the wraiths," said Kael, looking at the corpses with disgust.

The bodies were scattered on the ground, some with missing limbs, others with deep wounds. The disgusting smell of death was sickening.

"We must stay aware," said Lyra, looking around. "The Wraiths could be anywhere."

Suddenly, Wraiths emerged from the oppressive darkness, their red eyes glowing in the night.

"Wraiths!" shouted Kael, preparing to attack.

The Wraiths lunged at us, but we were ready. Lyra raised her hand, and a bolt of fire shot out, striking the Wraiths and knocking them back.

"I'll finish them off," Kael said, transforming into a wolf.

He lunged at the Wraiths, his teeth and claws ready to tear them apart. The Wraiths tried to defend themselves, but Kael was too powerful.

I created illusions to distract them, while Rowan used his powers to grow plants that hindered the Wraiths.

Elianore merely used her powers to create a wind that repelled the Wraiths, working in perfect harmony with us.
