Chapter 10: "Where Are You, My Wife?"
The battlefield was littered with burning wreckage.
Amazon Lily was nearly leveled. Smoke covered the horizon.
Lightning coiled through the sky like serpents.
The sea boiled.
Kurokami Dreid's body twitched, impaled on broken obsidian from the palace tower, still smiling despite the destruction.
I stood over him.
Breathing hard.
Body torn.
Power still sealed—except...
> "System…" I whispered, eyes narrowed.
> "Tell me… who else is coming?"
The air remained silent.
No reply.
> "System. Did you not hear me?"
Nothing.
I clenched my fists. "I SAID—WHO ELSE IS COMING!?"
Still nothing.
For the first time in my second life… she ignored me.
I took a slow step back, a bitter chill creeping into my chest.
> "Hey… listen, this isn't the time to play jokes, alright?"
My voice cracked slightly.
> "Come on, beauty. My wife. My sweet, jealous, crazy little goddess—this isn't funny."
Still nothing.
---
My hand shook.
I looked down.
My entire body screamed in pain. Bones ground together. Blood soaked my skin.
> "Please," I whispered. "Say something…"
Still silence.
My heart pounded.
> "I love you, alright? I said it—I meant it. Just… please…"
Still… only the wind.
---
I clenched my jaw and shouted:
> "Fine."
> "Then I'll FORCE the answer out of the void."
I reached into my soul, into the sealed realm where my powers slumbered.
And for the first time…
> I unlocked 1%.
---
Power.
It roared through me like a billion volcanoes igniting at once.
The air twisted.
Gravity snapped.
Sound died.
Reality shivered.
My chains, once dormant, lashed into the sky like cosmic serpents.
I saw the next enemy—an assassin wrapped in threads of cursed fate. A being not of this world. No name. No voice. Only threads.
> A Threadborn—woven from destiny, sent to erase anomalies.
Sent to erase me.
It struck.
Faster than light.
Sharper than logic.
But I moved.
Faster. Stronger. Controlled.
I grabbed the threads with my elemental constellation chains, now burning with starlight and chaos.
> "You want to cut fate?"
> "Let me rewrite it."
My punch carried all my pain, love, betrayal, fear.
And when it landed—
> The Threadborn unraveled into nothingness.
Erased. Forever.
---
Then… silence.
I stood, panting. Blood dripping. Power crackling.
I looked at my hands. Then the sky.
> "System…"
> "Did you see that?"
> "I did it. I protected them."
Still no voice.
I clenched my chest.
> "Where are you?"
No response.
---
I sank to my knees.
The battlefield quiet.
The moon rose behind ash clouds.
And for the first time in my life—
> I felt fear.
Not fear of death.
Not fear of enemies.
Not fear of losing.
> Fear of being truly… alone.
I closed my eyes and reached inward—
> Into my soul.
Into my mind-dimension, where she always was.
The garden she created.
The sky she painted.
The throne she teased me from.
But now?
Empty.
The cherry blossoms were dead.
The sky was gray.
The throne was… shattered.
And she—was gone.
---
I sat in that lifeless dreamscape, trembling.
> "Why…?" I whispered. "What happened to us?"
No answer.
Just echoes of her last words…
> "You don't want me… Then I'll leave. For real."
And now she had.
---
Tears fell.
Real ones.
Not from pain. Not from wounds.
From loss.
> "I miss you," I said. "I miss you so much…"
I didn't move. Not for minutes. Not for hours.
Just silence.
In a soulscape where gods had fallen…
And love had died.
