Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

After 7 years, the eldest son of the Khan family, Sazzadul Khan Abir, is returning home.

Saying "returning home" might not be entirely accurate—Abir is returning to the country from abroad. Over these 7 years, many events have taken place in the Khan household, events in which Abir wasn't physically present, yet emotionally, he was tied to every single one.

Abir's father is the eldest among three brothers. His name is Ali Ahmad Khan.

The middle brother, father of Tanvir, is Mozammel Khan.

The youngest is Iqbal Khan.

Abir is the only son of his parents.

Mozammel Khan has a son and a daughter—#Tanvir_Khan and #Mahdiba_Khan_Megh.

Iqbal Khan has a daughter, Meem, and a son, Adi.

The Khan family is still regarded as the most respected joint family in the area.

It's as if every soul in the house is bound together by a single thread.

Among the five cousins, Abir is the apple of everyone's eye.

After his birth, his parents never considered having a second child.

He stayed at home until his HSC (higher secondary education) and was everyone's favorite.

The house used to be filled with his energy.

Then suddenly, everything changed.

At 18, Abir left the country on a scholarship.

Physical distance led to mental distance as well.

There's a vast difference between the Abir from 7 years ago and the Abir now.

He's unrecognizable.

A tall, 6-foot man, dusky complexion, full beard, stylish hair like a movie star.

His fashion and looks could make any girl fall for him at first sight.

Sitting on the plane, Abir is lost in memories of the past.

Those vibrant moments now only live in his memory.

He left his mother when he was just 18, in the prime of his youth.

Back then, his mother was his only friend.

Now he's 24.

There wasn't a single day in all these years that he didn't talk to his mother on the phone.

He also tried to stay connected with other family members.

Thinking about all those childhood memories, Abir finally lands in his homeland.

At the airport, his father Ali Ahmad Khan and cousin Tanvir are waiting.

Tanvir, his cousin, is 2 years younger but his best friend and closest companion.

As soon as Tanvir sees Abir, he runs and hugs him.

Even though Abir didn't visit home once in these 7 years, he and Tanvir talked regularly.

Abir greets his father with a respectful "Salam" and hugs him.

Then the three of them head home.

The house is filled with joy and excitement—

After all, the eldest son of the family is returning after so long.

The mothers and aunts are busy cooking a feast in the kitchen.

As soon as Abir appears at the door, everyone starts cheering.

His mother rushes to him and embraces him tightly.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Abir hugs her back.

He had last touched his affectionate mother 7 years ago—

And now, after so long, he feels her warmth again.

He greets the other aunts and sits on the sofa while everyone offers him snacks and drinks.

Just then, Meem and Adi enter the scene.

Meem is 14, and her younger brother Adi is just 10—the youngest in the house.

When Abir left the country, Adi was only 3.

From video calls, he vaguely recognized his brother.

Now, running to him, he hugs him tightly.

Abir hugs Adi back while Meem sits beside him, and they all start chatting happily.

Adi asks,

"Brother, what did you bring for me?"

As Abir is about to get up, his mom and aunts stop him.

"Drink the juice first, then get up."

Abir looks at Tanvir and says,

"Hey, bring that luggage here."

As Tanvir is about to pull a suitcase, Abir suddenly stands up and says,

"Don't touch that one!"

Everyone is stunned.

Then, calmly, Abir says,

"Bring the one next to it."

Tanvir does as told and brings the suitcase.

Everyone starts unpacking and asking, "Whose is this?"

Abir answers casually while sipping his drink.

There are expensive foreign toys for Adi, dresses and a cosmetics box for Meem, and many gifts for the mothers and aunts.

For Tanvir, a phone, a laptop, and other gifts.

There's also another separate laptop.

Meem asks,

"Brother, is this your laptop?"

Abir replies,

"No, it's Megh's."

Megh's mother Halima Khan asks,

"Why does Megh need a laptop, son?"

Abir says:

"She just finished her HSC exams. Admission tests are coming up.

She'll need to study and research a lot.

A laptop is more convenient than studying on a phone, so I brought it for her."

Meem replies:

"You could've brought one for me too…!"

Abir laughs and says,

"When you turn 18, I'll get one for you too. Don't worry."

Meem, overjoyed, replies,

"Thank you, brother!"

Hearing the commotion, the youngest uncle Iqbal Khan comes out.

As Abir goes to greet him, Iqbal Khan stops him and hugs him instead.

Looking at everyone warmly, he softly says,

"Now this house feels complete."

Abir hands over his uncle's gift himself and distributes everyone else's one by one.

The middle uncle, Mozammel Khan, is not at home,

So Abir carefully keeps his gift aside.

In the suitcase, there's still a wrapped gift box and a shopping bag.

Adi asks,

"Brother, whose are those?"

Abir places the laptop, box, and shopping bag next to each other and says,

"These are for Megh. Give them to her. I'm going to my room."

Iqbal Khan looks around and asks,

"Where's Megh?"

Halima Khan answers,

"She went to coaching. Should be back by now."

As Abir was about to go upstairs with two more suitcases,

He turns around and asks his mother,

"Which room should I stay in?"

His mother Maliha Khan is startled at the question but quickly composes herself and replies,

"Your room is still yours. We cleaned it this morning."

Without saying anything, Abir grabs the suitcases.

Tanvir comes to help—Abir hands him one and carries the other carefully upstairs.

Just then, the eldest daughter of the house, #Mahdiba_Khan_Megh, walks in.

Meem runs to her,

"Sis! Sis! Abir bhaiya is here!"

Megh looks toward the staircase.

A tall, handsome man is walking up with a suitcase—only his back is visible.

Megh enters and notices all the gifts around.

Abir has already gone to his room.

Her mother Halima Khan comes to her and says,

"Your brother brought gifts for you."

Megh asks,

"What gifts?"

Her mother points toward the laptop with her eyes.

Megh rushes over to it.

"Is this mine?" she asks.

Meem replies,

"Yes, it's yours. The box and shopping bag too."

Megh examines the laptop with awe, as if she's found a treasure.

She peeks into the shopping bag—there are two dresses inside.

Holding her gifts close, she quietly walks to her room.
