The betrayal hit hard. Not only had Takumi lost his best friend to the Maze, but now he was betrayed by someone he had trusted—someone he had let into his heart. Mika had played him, used his grief and rage to manipulate him into becoming a weapon for her own personal revenge.
The emotional weight of it was almost unbearable. Takumi's heart was torn between the anger he felt toward Mika and the guilt he felt for putting the others at risk by trusting her.
Haruka, furious, refused to let Mika escape, and they confronted her in the dead of night.
"You're nothing but a liar," Haruka spat, tears streaming down her face. "You played with all of us, and now you're going to pay."
Takumi, torn between his feelings for Mika and the reality of what had happened, stepped forward. "Mika, you… you've hurt us all. I don't know if I can ever forgive you for what you've done, but this ends now."
The conflict between betrayal, revenge, and the love triangle would come to a head in the final battle against the Maze, as Takumi would have to choose not just between Mika and Haruka—but between his desire for vengeance and the need to heal from the trauma the Maze had inflicted on them all.
