September 10, 2020, Friday.
Fuyuki City, Japan.
In an ordinary residential building, a handsome young man in an apron was busy cooking in the kitchen.
After finishing a hearty breakfast, Sanjiro knocked on the bedroom door next to him.
"Kirina, you've got three minutes. If you're not up, I'm spanking you!"
"Mmm… nngh…"
A muffled voice came from the bedroom.
"You really sleep in every day!"
Sanjiro sighed like a tired father, feeling the weight of his own choices.
He was clearly a 17-year-old in the prime of youth. Why the hell did he decide to raise a daughter?
He sat on the living room sofa and turned his gaze to the news on the LCD TV:
—"King Arthur and the Knight of the Lake, Lancelot, have made peace. Prime Minister Mordred wears a complex expression…"
—"The Hero King of Sumer declares that the King of Conquerors is only fit to be his subordinate. In response, the King of Conquerors flexes, unhappy. The Middle East is on the brink of war!"
Sanjiro quietly watched these familiar faces on screen. He reached out to touch them—but lowered his hand with a sigh.
This was the era of Heroic Spirits.
A time when myth became reality, and historical figures walked the modern world.People were obsessed and enthralled by these living legends.
But no one knew…
That a nameless Heroic Spirit had sacrificed everything to create this dazzling age.
He had walked through all of human history—
The burning flame around the Saint,
The girl pulling the sword from the stone,
The most ancient king challenging the gods with arrogance,
The eternal emperor who crossed the sea in search of immortality…
The snowbound oath, the Demonic Beast Front, the Grand Temple of Time—
He was there for all of it.
Truly on the scene.
As Alaya's most cherished nameless Heroic Spirit, he had crossed all of human history, fighting alongside powerful heroes, sharing drinks with legends.
When he made a wish upon the Star Grail, sacrificing his very existence to restore a shattered world…
That gentle kouhai said with a softer voice, "Goodbye, senpai. May you find a safe harbor to rest."
The usually manipulative peddler smiled kindly: "Your journey is over. You may rest, Master."
If it was a journey, there had to be a destination.
"The weary soul rests in a woven fairy tale. If we ever meet again, don't forget to buy me strawberry cake~"
Even the shut-in who adored virtual idols waved goodbye.
It was finally over.
After traveling through 6,000 years of human history, sacrificing everything to restart the Earth—his job as savior was done.
Time to live a normal life again.
This wasn't just sacrificing his Spirit Origin—it was erasing his entire "existence" as a concept.
The nameless Heroic Spirit who once saved the world disappeared from everyone's memory. No one could remember him again.
After the reset, the name "█████" was wiped clean.
(T/N: Guess.)
He chose a new name—Sanjiro, symbolizing a brand-new beginning.
He had been Alaya's 24/7 employee, saving humanity for who knows how many years.
He had fulfilled his fantasy of being a Hero of Justice to the fullest.
Now, he only wanted to be a normal high school student and enjoy a peaceful, warm youth.
Sanjiro lazily lay on the sofa, listening to the slightly melancholic ringtone from his phone:
"君と夏の终わり 将来の梦 大きな希望忘れない…""At summer's end with you, I won't forget our dreams and great hopes for the future…"
"secret base: The Things You Gave Me"
He always felt this song resonated with his own experiences, so he made it his ringtone.
He gave everything for humanity.
Now, he deserved some peace.
Everything was peaceful, except—
BANG BANG BANG!
Sanjiro banged on the bedroom door, "Kirina! If you don't get up, I'm confiscating your phone forever!"
Dealing with this little brat every day was a real headache.
"I'm coming!"
A soft, sleepy voice replied.
Out came a little blonde twin-tailed girl.
Just woken up, she wore only a loose shirt on her upper body, revealing porcelain-like skin. Her slender legs wrapped in white stockings lazily slipped into her slippers.
Sanjiro grabbed her soft cheeks,
"Eat up fast, or you'll be late!"
She was cute, sure—but a total gremlin at home and school.
She used to be a sweet, kind little angel. Then one day, she accidentally launched a mobile game…
And instantly turned into a fallen angel.
Just like that washed-up angel Gabriel!
"Ughh, you perv! I'm not a kid anymore!" Kirina puffed up her cheeks indignantly.
"Heh, we'll talk when you can wake up without me yelling and cook me breakfast." Sanjiro returned to the sofa and resumed watching the news.
"Hmph, you lolicon!"
Kirina rolled her eyes.
She glanced at the TV and melodramatically declared,
"Heroic Spirits rule everything now… and the rest of us just watch from the sidelines."
"Heroic Spirits have nothing to do with you. Now go brush your teeth and eat!"
Sanjiro paused slightly, his tone turning annoyed—almost ready to kick her.
"Hmph, if only I were a Heroic Spirit! I could have anything I want and not have to budget every day!" The little loli dragged herself toward the bathroom, muttering.
"You want to be a Heroic Spirit…"
Sanjiro's expression turned complicated.
He was honestly curious—if the brat found out his true identity, what would her reaction be?
Probably stunned silent, questioning all of reality.
But that was all in the past.
He was no longer that nameless Heroic Spirit who walked human history and drank with legends.
He just wanted to be an ordinary high school student!
After breakfast, the two slung on their backpacks and headed to school. On the streets, posters of Heroic Spirits were everywhere.
"Ahh, when will I finally get to meet a Heroic Spirit up close!?"
Kirina had switched to her public mode—calm and refined—but was still talking nonstop beside him.
"When you become someone important, you'll get the chance." Sanjiro thought for a moment, then added, "No more buying Heroic Spirit merch or posters!"
"Hmph! If you were a Heroic Spirit like the King of Heroes, would you worry about such tiny expenses?"
Kirina pouted.
She quickened her pace and joined a group of her classmates. Behind her, Sanjiro shook his head.
"King of Heroes, huh… If you really knew him, you'd find out he's even stingier than I am. He wants everything!"
Time to enjoy another peaceful day.
A life without bloodshed is truly a blessing.
On the other side—
Kirina followed her friends into the classroom and, acting casual, took out her phone.Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced at the trending #1 video on the pink app:
[Chronicles of the Nameless Heroic Spirit!]
[No one knows your name, but your deeds shall live on forever!]
She glanced at the uploader—
[Alaya]
