Chapter 3 - "Chaos of My Mind"

Now, what about this Windows XP-level shit here?

Hmm… an analog system?

It gives some crap like details about me—name, age, ability, and… remaining lifespan?

Remaining lifespan?! That means I'll die after 12 years? Is that set in stone? (Maybe Power Stone?)

And it even says my cause of death will be "natural." Hmm…

But if I flip that logic around… does it mean I won't die before 12 years, no matter what?

Should I test that theory? See if I can die or not?

I smirk.

Let's just hold onto that thought for now...

Abilities: Seer? Listener? Cloning...?

Cloning I understand. But seer and listener? What the hell am I gonna do with those?

I can see. I can hear. Congratulations, me! You're a human being! What kind of superpower is this?

I start losing myself in thought again...

Focus!

Then the last and biggest prank—"Additional lifespan: 0"

What the…? Is it actually possible to increase lifespan?

That means… I could become immortal?

If I want?

That doesn't sound too bad...

But seriously, what the hell am I supposed to do in this world?

Suddenly, I feel something like a thud on the back of my head.

Ouch! Ahh… ehh…

A Detective.

I blink. My face twists into a weird grimace.

A detective…?

Ha…ha ha…

What a laughable joke.

---

At this moment, I hear footsteps.

Maybe someone is coming… a family member, perhaps?

Ohh—there's a slight pain in my chest.

Did my blood pressure pills get transmitted too or something?

Even I laugh at that ridiculous thought.

I look around the room to see where I am.

It doesn't feel so bad.

The bed is surprisingly comfortable.

There are decorations on the ceiling, a wide window… I can see a bit of the garden.

It's almost dusk—feels like a new beginning.

The room smells nice, something like lavender.

Maybe it's my wife's room?

Ehh… where is my wife, anyway?

Shouldn't she be with me now?

My mood starts to sink again, eyes growing cold.

Hah! Same hypocrisy?

If you've accepted me as your husband, shouldn't you be here?

Or do you think you have more leverage against me, just because you're older and have an adult daughter?

Yes… in this world, the age of adulthood is 17.

The door clicked open, and a nurse walked in.

Not too good-looking… but not so bad either that you'd lose appetite after seeing her.

Brown hair, oval face, moderately sized breasts…

Mmm, she's got some meat in the back too.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

---

---

I could see the shock in her eyes—like she didn't expect me to be awake.

Did she try to kill this Elish or something?

Doesn't feel like it, though.

Maybe I'm just not supposed to be awake yet?

Should I pretend to go back to sleep? Maybe that would calm her down…

"Sir, how are you awake?" she asked, visibly startled.

"Oh? Maybe because I don't feel like sleeping anymore?" I replied with a soft smile.

"So, nurse, may I know your name, please?"

She flinched slightly and blushed. "It's Lucy."

I raised an eyebrow.

What was that reaction all about…?

"So, lovely Lucy—can you please tell me what happened to me? I'm not really up to date on my condition here."

She fumbled a bit. "Um, yes… You got shot in the chest. And your legs… they were beaten to the point of being crushed. We suspect you won't be able to walk again. Until now, you've been in a coma for two months."

"Fucking shit!"

Is this the first time in transmigration history where someone ends up disabled right from the start?

I cursed out loud, unable to hold it in.

"So, lovely Lucy…" I said, still smiling though my heart had gone stone cold,

"…can you tell me where my wife is right now?"

"Oh! Ma'am Rez? She's out looking for blood for your next transfusion," she said.

It hit me like a rock.

I've been lying here in a coma for two months… and this woman is still searching for resources for me?

Maybe… maybe she isn't as bad as I thought she was…

---

"Ahh! What a lovely wife she is!" I said aloud with a grin.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Lucy flinch slightly.

"Eh? Is everything alright, lovely Lucy?" I asked.

She quickly replied, "It's nothing."

There we go again—women and their cryptic responses.

Why can't they just speak their damn minds? Life would be so much easier…

Just then, I heard a faint click—like a switch being flipped.

And suddenly…

I heard everything.

Yes. Heard.

Not just sounds.

Thoughts.

"Why is he talking like this? Isn't he handsome!? A handsome man called me lovely… Will he try something? Maybe pin me down? But he can't, right? He's injured… Wow, look at those muscles, damn. Should I approach? Maybe then he'll try. But his legs… are those broken!? Ahh, bad luck! Am I turned on or what? Oh Lucy, you're such a slut!"

What the actual f—

Make it stop.

Stop thinking!

Then came another flurry of thoughts—

"Is he talking to me!? Oh my God, what's happening? Is he going to die now? Should I try it with his dead body? Should I call someone? Maybe an ambulance?"

That was it. I was at the end of my rope.

My brain started to short-circuit.

Women… how do you even think this much… nonstop…

I passed out.

No clue what the hell just happened,

but at least the voices stopped.

That was terrifying.

I think it's next noon, when I woke up, I see a mature woman mid 30s seating beside my bed. I know, I think I know who is she maybe...

The slide darkness under her eyes made me think...this emotion & action which is she showing, is it real or just a world class act? Same as our world?

Should I try to read her thought? Will she be same as this emotion in her heart or there will be annoyance of having a crippled husband?
