Chapter 2: Liu Li

"What are you staring at? Move it!"Zhang Lan snapped, glaring at Li Qiang who was ogling the stunning woman. After scolding him, she stomped back into the car."Let's go, let's go, let's go!"Li Qiang's face puffed with rage as he hurriedly ushered his relatives and friends into the cars.

He had planned to humiliate Wang Xu—but instead, he had been humiliated.

Wang Xu was still in a daze, not understanding what had just happened. When the beautiful woman suddenly kissed him in front of everyone, his mind went blank. As someone who had just gotten out of prison, such a romantic ambush was simply too much for him to handle.

"Uh… Miss, do we know each other?"Once the wedding convoy had left, Wang Xu finally collected himself and blinked at the woman.

"Wang Xu, I'm Lu Qin. My father is Lu Jie," the beauty said straightforwardly.

Upon hearing that she was Lu Jie's daughter, everything clicked for Wang Xu.Lu Jie had been his cellmate in prison, a big-time entrepreneur in the county. Wang Xu had once saved his life. It was clear now that Lu Jie had asked his daughter to repay the favor.

What Wang Xu hadn't expected was that Lu Jie's daughter would be so stunning—and seemingly quite bold.

"Don't get the wrong idea. I just couldn't stand the injustice. Watching them get slapped in the face was just too satisfying! Hehe!"Lu Qin saw the lingering awkwardness on Wang Xu's face and laughed as she explained cheerfully.

"Oh. Thank you, Lu Qin," Wang Xu said with a smile.Even without her explanation, he had already understood her intentions.

"Wang Xu, let me drive you home. According to the GPS, your Lihua Village is still a bit of a distance away."As she spoke, Lu Qin naturally took the old canvas bag from his hand and placed it in the trunk.

Wang Xu didn't refuse and got into the front passenger seat without hesitation. The cabin was filled with her perfume, and her long, fair legs kept catching Wang Xu's eye.

A few minutes later, Lu Qin stopped at the entrance to a mountain road. The path was barely over a meter wide, winding dangerously along a steep cliff. You couldn't even ride a bike safely—below was a deadly drop.

This mountain trail was the only route to Lihua Village. The village's extreme poverty was directly tied to this treacherous road—getting in and out was a real challenge.

"Wang Xu, I didn't expect you to live in such a remote place! With your medical skills, if you opened a clinic in the county, you'd be making a fortune!"Lu Qin frowned at the perilous mountain trail, visibly surprised.

"My home is here. My roots are here. I think rural life is pretty good," Wang Xu replied calmly.

"Wow, the wisdom of a true master. Wang Xu, here's a card with 500,000 yuan. The PIN is six sixes. It's to thank you for saving my father's life. Here's my number. If you ever need help, just ask. As long as it's within the Lu family's power, we'll do it. Goodbye, Wang Xu!"As she left, Lu Qin handed Wang Xu a bank card and her contact info.

Wang Xu accepted without hesitation. After all, saving someone's life—500,000 wasn't too much. And freshly out of prison, he really did need the money.

Just after stepping onto the familiar, treacherous mountain road, the sky darkened with thunderclouds.Flashes of lightning and rumbling thunder followed—a storm was about to hit.

At this time of year, mountain weather was as unpredictable as a child's mood.Soon, fat raindrops started pelting down, icy and loud on Wang Xu's bald head.

He broke into a quick run, heading for a small cave along the path—A place where villagers usually took shelter from sudden mountain storms.

When he reached the cave entrance, he was surprised to find a beautiful young woman already inside. She had a graceful figure, fair skin, and delicate features. She wore a long white dress, looking ethereal.

She appeared to be in her early twenties—stunningly beautiful in a way that left people speechless.

Seeing Wang Xu enter, the girl quickly moved to the other side of the narrow cave, her eyes full of caution. After all, no matter how kind a man looked, he still posed a potential threat—especially in a cramped cave in the middle of a storm.

The cave was small, and the scent of Wang Xu's body lingered in the air.Because of the rain, her thin dress clung to her body, outlining her curves and making her skin glow with a soft blush.

She felt like she was standing half-naked in front of a strange man, her face turning bright red.She even wanted to run, but the storm outside made it too dangerous.

"What—what are you looking at, you pervert!"Unable to endure the awkwardness, the girl summoned her courage and snapped at him.

Wang Xu blinked, caught off guard. He quickly averted his eyes. The girl was so beautiful—pure, enchanting. With her soaked dress clinging tightly to her, her scent was almost overwhelming. For a young man fresh out of prison, this temptation was difficult to resist.

But Wang Xu wasn't just staring because of her beauty.

"Ahem... are you from Lihua Village?" he asked, trying to defuse the tension.

"I don't want to talk to a pervert," she replied coldly, face expressionless.

Wang Xu chuckled. She was actually kind of cute.

"If you don't talk to me, you might die," Wang Xu said, curling his lips.

"You—what do you mean? If you try anything, I'll call the police!"The girl's face turned pale with fear, and she hurriedly pulled out her phone.

She thought this bald guy had ill intentions.

"Don't panic. If you get too worked up, your brain tumor will grow faster. You might not even live another six months."Wang Xu's words froze her in place, her big black eyes wide with shock.

Her name was Liu Li. Less than two years after graduating from college, she had been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. The tumor was located deep in her brain stem and was inoperable.Doctors had given her, at most, six months to live.

She had decided to spend what little time she had left doing something meaningful—Like volunteering as a rural teacher.

She had chosen Lihua Village, the poorest in Qingbei County.Liu Li hadn't told anyone about her illness—not even her family.

But now, this stranger had somehow seen through her condition in one glance.

How could she not be shocked?

"You… what are you talking about? What tumor? You're the one with a tumor!"She couldn't believe it. Somehow, this man, who didn't seem like a good guy at all, had just hit the mark.
