Ren wakes up in the middle of a black sea. It feels like water, but it's completely black—and strangely, it doesn't drown him.
He opens his eyes and says quietly:
Ren: Ohhh... (with sadness) I died again?
My... my parents are dead?
They killed my father...
—We see a bulked-up Null holding his father's neck and slashing it with a curved sword.
Ren: They killed my mother...
—Another Null is shown stabbing his mother in the heart.
Ren: And at last, they killed me...
—The bulked Null and another approach Ren with their swords, and in a few seconds, they slice him into pieces.
Ren: It's so traumatizing... I-I can't control my emotions right now. So now... I'll turn into a Null…
He closes his eyes, ready to accept death. But suddenly, a beam of light flashes in his eyes, pinching them open. He sees a door glowing with white light.
Ren: Ughh… (with frustration) I can't die... but that doesn't mean I can't become a Null peacefully.
Frustrated, he looks up again and sees the white glowing gate.
Ren: Wait... What is that?
He walks toward it and enters.
Inside, he finds himself in a hospital corridor. To the right, a sword rests against the wall. He grabs it, but as he does, he hears a man's voice—screaming, desperate.
Man: Give it... Please forgive her... Leave her... (yelling at someone else) You bastard! Give me back my thing—it belongs to me!!! (screaming at Ren)
Ren's eyes fill with tears. He feels overwhelmed with sorrow.
Ren: (sobbing, confused) What was that? What just happened...?
Still holding the sword, he moves forward and reaches another gate.
Ren: What's behind this door...? And why is everything red?
He opens it and enters a huge area with a fountain at the center—but the place is filled with Nulls.
Ren: Oh shit... (scared) Am I going to die again...?
The Nulls all turn to him.
Suddenly, the sword speaks.
Sword: Give them a slash, you fool!
Startled but obedient, Ren swings the sword at a Null. The force pushes him back, and the Null is left with a deep scar.
Ren: What the hell?! What just happened? And where did that voice come from...?
Sword: Look down at your right hand!
Ren looks—and sees his right arm covered in red and black scales.
Sword: Now give them a left slash!
Ren follows the command and strikes again. The Nulls are thrown back.
Sword: No time to talk! Cut them into pieces!
Ren: I-I'm just a kid! I don't even know how to use a butter knife—how the hell am I supposed to kill them?!
Sword: Okay then.
His right hand forms a shield-like object.
Sword: Block your face with it. I'll handle the rest.
Ren closes his eyes.
Suddenly, we're taken into a memory...
A swordsman is in the middle of a match. He uses a right slash and left slash simultaneously, defeating his opponent. The crowd erupts in applause. His coach walks up to him.
Coach: Well done, my boy. (clapping) Kento!
Kento: Thank you, coach. I'll keep growing.
They all celebrate his victory. That night, back in the room:
Renma: Hey! Kento, I loved your fight. It was awesome! (a girl who clearly loves Kento)
Kento: Thanks, Renma.
They share a room. Renma feeds him with her own hands—a warm, happy moment.
Later, they sleep peacefully.
But the peace doesn't last long.
The guards outside sense a powerful Null approaching. They use their shisou to fight—but fail. The Null kills them.
The coach wakes up to the chaos. Multiple Nulls have attacked the house. He grabs a rope with a sharp weapon at its end and jumps from the second floor, killing Nulls.
Coach: Aaggghhh!!! (screaming in rage)
He slays 8 Nulls before they overwhelm and kill him.
Inside the house, Renma tries to protect Kento.
Kento: Right slash!!!
Three Nulls are knocked back.
Kento: Left slash!!!
Two Nulls are killed.
The rest of the students are either running or being slaughtered.
Kento: Shenshiko!!!
This attack wipes out the Nulls near him.
But the strongest Null approaches. An intense battle begins. Kento gives everything he's got—but the Null keeps standing.
Null: Excellent power... but not anymore.
The Null grabs Renma.
Kento: Nooo!!!
Null: Hahahaha!!! (villainous laugh)
Kento: Please! Forgive her! Leave her!!!
The Null tears her apart mid-air—with his bare hands. Then drinks all her blood.
Kento: NOOOOO!!!
While Kento is frozen in horror, another Null sneaks up and slashes him from behind—cutting him in two from head to foot.
Back in the present, Ren is crying, sobbing. He drops the object he was using to shield himself.
He now stands surrounded by bodies. The entire area soaked in Null blood.
He looks at the sword.
Ren: So... your name is Kento, right?
Sword: Yes, kid.
