Chapter 279 - Chapter 279: Something's Wrong With the Way This Is Unfolding!

"The teacher's office is on the third floor. I'll leave the rest to you!"

Gabriel gave Sato a final reminder before turning and walking into the school.

Sato glanced at the students continuously entering the campus. After some thought, he decided to wait until classes started before going in. In his current appearance, he was simply too conspicuous.

According to Gabriel, that terrifying homeroom teacher would be in the office during the first two morning periods, so there was no rush.

Taking advantage of the time, Sato began rehearsing in his mind.

Since he was supposed to be Gabriel's brother, their surname naturally had to be the same. What should he call himself?

Sato White Tenma?

Eh?!

Come to think of it, Gabriel's name was very similar to that of the legendary archangel. Could she be a descendant of that archangel?

As Sato was speculating, he suddenly caught sight of a small white dog carrying a bread roll in its mouth, trotting over from the right on its little legs.

The dog was only about knee-high. As it walked, it bounced along cheerfully, looking quite delighted.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

This little dog was pretty interesting.

Watching it disappear from view, Sato was about to lower his head and continue rehearsing when his expression suddenly changed. He quickly looked up again, staring uncertainly in the direction the dog had gone.

Wait!

Why did this scene feel strangely familiar?

That white dog seemed to have a melon bread in its mouth, didn't it?

The sight immediately made him think of someone...

Just as he was considering this, he suddenly saw a somewhat familiar figure entering the school while crying and wiping away tears.

It was none other than Satania...

How embarrassing. No, wait, how embarrassing for a demon.

Sato didn't call out to her. The bell had already rung.

He simply watched in silence as Satania sobbed pitifully while sprinting toward the school because she was running late.

The scene was so ridiculous that it was hard to even comment on it.

"Now then, it's my battlefield."

Sato took a deep breath and nervously adjusted his appearance.

Who would've thought he'd have a day like this?

And as a fallen angel's older brother, no less!

After arriving at the school gate and signing the visitor log, Sato entered the campus.

Maiten High School looked much smaller than the Private Mixed High School. You could practically see from one end to the other at a glance.

He arrived at the office on the third floor.

Knock, knock, knock.

"Come in."

A calm and steady voice came from inside.

Sato pushed open the door and stepped in. The spacious office was nearly empty. Among the rows of documents and books piled around the workspaces, one bald head stood out especially prominently.

So bald.

Exactly like Brother Saitama!

He couldn't help thinking that.

The teacher who had been busy working looked up after Sato entered.

He wore sunglasses, making him look more like a bodyguard or... a yakuza?

How was this guy a teacher?!

No wonder Gabriel and the others said he looked scary. Just his cold appearance alone gave off a powerful "keep strangers away" aura.

"You are...?"

The bald teacher in sunglasses asked about Sato's identity.

"Hello, I'm... Gabriel White Tenma. Are you Teacher Uesugi?"

"Gabriel White?"

Teacher Uesugi slowly repeated the name before raising his head slightly to look at Sato.

The dark sunglasses concealed his eyes, but Sato somehow felt that the gaze behind them carried a deeper meaning.

"Please, come sit down and let's talk."

"Yes."

Sato nodded, walked over, and bowed slightly.

"Excuse me."

Sitting across from Teacher Uesugi, Sato suddenly felt something strange.

The teacher sat upright with impeccable posture. Although his appearance was unusual, he possessed a unique presence.

An oppressive one.

"You're... Gabriel's brother?"

"Yes."

Sato nodded without changing expression, though inwardly he was muttering to himself.

Did he see through something?

"Very well."

Teacher Uesugi asked no further questions, but somehow his tone sounded to Sato like, "Fine, let's just go with your version."

"Do you know that Gabriel is frequently late?"

"Yes. I'm very sorry. Gabriel lives with me. Since I have to take a long train ride to work every morning, I leave in a hurry and haven't supervised her properly. I'll have a serious talk with her when I get home."

"Mm."

Teacher Uesugi seemed momentarily surprised by his smooth explanation, then nodded and fell silent for a moment.

"Then do you know that Gabriel sleeps during class?"

"I'm sorry. Because I often have work-related social engagements at night, I return home very late. As a result, she frequently stays up late playing games. I'll pay closer attention to that in the future as well."

"Mm. You've worked hard."

"Besides that, there's also this..."

Teacher Uesugi pulled a box out from beneath the desk and set it on top with a heavy thud.

The box was filled with various game consoles and manga.

Sato's eyelid immediately twitched.

T-There had to be at least five or six game consoles in there, right?!

No wonder Gabriel was always crying about being broke.

So all her money had gone into this.

"I'll discipline her properly. At the same time, I'll also restrict her allowance."

"Mm."

"As for these items, please continue keeping them here, Teacher. You can return them to her after she graduates."

"Ah? That..."

"I'm begging you. If I take them home, I'm afraid I won't be able to withstand her constant pleading and will end up giving them back."

Sato said this with complete righteousness.

Teacher Uesugi: "..."

...

Half an hour later, Sato emerged from the office wearing a smile. He bowed slightly toward Teacher Uesugi, who had accompanied him to the door.

"Please stay here, Teacher Uesugi. I'll take my leave now. From now on, I'll be much stricter with Gabriel."

"Mm."

"Goodbye."

As the door slowly closed before him, the bald teacher in sunglasses stood there silently for a moment. Then he shook his head and chuckled.

"Gabriel, huh? How interesting."

Meanwhile...

As Sato walked out of the school building, he couldn't help smiling when he thought about the trap he had set for Gabriel.

Then, with great interest, he opened a character card.

[Name: Jehovah]

[Job: God]

[Race: Deity]

[Age: ???]

[Threat Level: S]

Sato: "..."

Something's wrong.

Wasn't there a problem with the way this was opening?!

Refusing to believe it, Sato closed the character card and opened it again.

The exact same panel appeared before him.

He fell silent.

Then a single sentence surfaced in his mind.

"I became bald, but I also became stronger."

So all bald people were powerhouses?!
