As I opened my eyes I could hear birds chirping near my window.
'Wait, didn't I die? Did someone get me to a doctor in time?'
I felt groggy as if I had slept for a long time.
'No - the doctor said that my case of glioblastoma multiforme was severe and untreatable. So if I'm not alive, then where am I?'
I sat up and examined 'my' body. I could feel my frail figure. My hair was grown out to shoulder length.
"This definitely isn't my body"
Then a screen suddenly entered my vision.
[Name: Caelum Veris]
[Age: 17]
[Bloodline: Adventurers' child]
[Rank: E-]
[Mana: 3689/3690]
[Traits: [Prodigy], [Understanding], [Manacrosis], [???]]
"Wait wait wait. Caelum?!! Of all people why him?? And what's with that last trait?"
My mind buzzed with this new information. In disbelief, I ran toward the nearest mirror, and sure enough - I reincarnated as a worthless villian.
****
The figure staring back at me was lean, with silver-blue hair that hanged over his tired violet eyes. His complexion was awfully pale.
My mouth felt dry, I couldn't comprehend the current situation.
I looked back at my status window.
"These meager stats won't be enough to survive with."
How am I supposed to survive this world with these stats?
Pacing around I started to devise a plan of action. I have to survive no matter what. I have to find a way back home if at all possible. I have to go back to my family even if the chances of doing so are low.
Then the calendar on the wall caught my attention. It's currently Sunday 25th, reading all the notes I made my eyes fell on another date, 'Wednesday 28th: First day at academy.'
"Oh crap, I totally forgot."
This game's setting mainly happens at the Academy. An institution that raises children with rare aptitudes for magic, swordsmanship, alchemy, and alot of other talents. It is also the place where Caelum is supposed to die.
"Luckily no one at the Academy knows me."
I did have one major issue though. I didn't know how to use magic or my skills. I guess these skills are propably passive.
"I wish I could get more context on them."
Just then the screen flashed.
Looking at the new screen I immediately took notice of all my traits.
[Prodigy (passive)- you get more proficient with swordsmanship and magic with less effort.]
[Understanding (active and passive)- you can instantly understand anything you set your eyes upon, the more difficult and elaborate the subject or object you try to understand the more mana is used, if mana is drained, skill will deactivate and your movement will become more sluggish]
[Manacrosis - A mana desease that constantly leaks mana, reduces magical skill effect and magical damage taken]
[??? - Will activate in a dangerous situation (locked - conditions not met)]
"So that's how these traits work."
I still couldn't use skills or magic, but this was definitely usefull.
With prodigy and understanding I can certainly easily survive through theory classes, since I can just use these to understand lessons that I can't grasp, but that unknown trait is kind of bothering me. Why would it only activate at dangerous times. What kind of skill is it? Maybe a defensive skill?
[You have unlocked a new trait!]
"A new trait?"
[Trait: The power of Calm - You will stay unusually calm throughout situations. Your level-headedness knows no bounds. Even if you panic on the inside you won't show it on the outside.]
"Well that's a usefull trait, I guess I'm going to have to start preparing for my first day, now what should I do first?"
