Izu Amari… that is my name. I have lived in the hidden leaf my entire life and have made it my life's work to become a respected shinobi! The problem? I have no talent for it. Sure, I got stronger in the Academy but not at the rate which all my classmates did. I was just about average in pretty much every aspect except for chakra control. But good chakra control won't get me very far, now will it? Despite training to my absolute limits, I never managed to break through to any type of significance. I fear that I will be a genin forever.
"Why can't I get stronger?" I lamented, shaking my fist up at the heavens. The sky was baby blue, not a cloud in sight. It was a cruel mockery. The day was perfect and yet, I can't feel good about it, "damn this all! I have spent my last few years in the ninja academy, I can't drop out now! But will I ever make it as anything but a genin? The world isn't fair!"
As I lay on the ground, exhausted from my training, I hear a *ding* in my head and suddenly, as no longer exhausted. I feel… well rested? Something wasn't right here, so I snapped open my eyes. In front of me was a blue screen, like in those videogames I played before entering the academy. I have no time for them any longer but i remember screens like these from rpg's.

"Kai!" I try to dispel the illusion but it stays there. Well might as well go along with this, what could go wrong, am I right?

Almost everything is D rank… since I am about as strong as a regular academy student, that must mean D rank is academy student level. And my affinity is water release? I was hoping for fire or lightning but I guess water is also good.

A grid of squares appears in my vision, only one slot is filled. Concentrating on it, a pop up screen appears.
Beginner package: 5 high quality kunai, 5 explosive tags, 1 gacha ticket
I claim the rewards, the kunai and explosive tags landing in my inventory. The shop was nothing notable, just a long list of items for sale, some as mundane as a loaf of bread, others as special as forbidden jutsu scrolls.
And lastly, I open up the gacha option.
Three options are available to me, the standard gacha, the advanced gacha and the extreme gacha.
"System, how does the gacha work?"
The gacha takes gacha Tickets which you can earn by various ways. The standard gacha costs 1 ticket and is guaranteed to give you something, no matter how mundane it is. The advanced gacha costs 3 tickets per pull and has better odds at dispensing higher level items or skills but there is a 2% chance that you get nothing. The extreme gacha, which takes 10 tickets, has the highest reward but also the highest risk. 50% of the time, you get nothing but the other 50% the drops are of the highest quality. Skills gained through the gacha are maxed out immediately at S rank.
"Woah- that seems… kinda broken?" I ponder, shifting through my Snow White hair with my fingers, "I have one ticket… I'll use it immediately! Pull the basic gacha!"

"Cool, I heard about that technique before it- Aaargh!" My head feels like it is about to split as decades worth of experience of the technique is transferred into my head. The pain only lasts for three seconds but those are the longest three seconds of my life.
"I have to try this out… if this is real and not just some genjutsu, then this can be my ticket out of mediocrity" I form the hand seal and immediately, a thick blanket of mist erupts from me.
It covers multiple blocks of Konoha and confuses many civilians before i dismiss the jutsu. This is real… so very much real. If I can do this so easily, what else can I do when I get more gacha tickets? Instantaneous Kage level understanding of any jutsu I get through the system. The only problem? My chakra reserves are just too low. Even only one casting of the hiding in mist technique has cost me almost half of my chakra…
How does one train chakra? Well, Chakra is a combination of physical and mental energies. It stands to reason that if my body gets stronger, my chakra reserves will also grow… so, I have to train, a lot… I will be more than just an eternal genin, that much i promise myself. I will make it far and then-
"Hey, have you seen who cast that jutsu just now, little boy?" A shinobi asks me. Yeah, casting it in the middle of Konoha probably attracts attention, doesn't it?
"No", I lie, pretending as if it wasn't me who cast that jutsu. There was no way an academy student should be able to cast such a potent hiding in mist technique. Worst case scenario, they could think I am a spy and torture me. I shiver internally, better keep this to myself for now.
