Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 – He Was Set Up

Su Nian and Ye Nan's expressions shifted dramatically.Although Ye Nan's family background could not rival the four great families of Xicheng, it was by no means insignificant. Upon graduating from university, he had immediately assumed the top seat in his company, and he never missed a single interview or press feature that came his way.And now—he had been publicly humiliated in front of everyone? How could he possibly swallow such disgrace?

Fu Liangmu stepped through the doorway. He wore a simple white shirt, two buttons undone, the collar slightly open, revealing his finely sculpted collarbones. His face was concealed by a black mask, leaving only a pair of calm, bottomless eyes—cold and deep like a still lake in midnight. One glance was enough to tell that this man was far from ordinary.Even Su Nian couldn't help but steal another look.

She had seen many men in her life, but it was the first time she found herself entranced by nothing but a man's eyes.

As her astonished gaze lingered, Fu Liangmu had already walked up to Su Wanwan and, before everyone's eyes, pulled her firmly into his arms. Before Su Wanwan could even react, her nose bumped into his chest—it hurt a little.

Ye Nan's lips twitched violently. The metaphorical green hat on his head now felt even more blinding.Su Nian reacted faster than he did, gasping aloud:

"My god, sister… Are you out of your mind? How could you—how could you betray Young Master Fu like this?!"

Her words implied that the man beside Su Wanwan was nothing but her secret lover.

Everyone in the room instantly understood. The infamous Young Master Fu had long been rumored to be disfigured, terrifyingly ugly. There was no way he could be the man standing here now.

"Tsk tsk, I never thought the Su family's eldest daughter would turn out to be so promiscuous."

"What's so surprising? People from the countryside marry young. Some even have kids at fourteen or fifteen! Who knows how many men she's been with before reclaiming her family name—ha!"

Su Wanwan's beautiful brows furrowed. Her voice was laced with scorn:"Seems like any stray cat or dog can just walk in here."

Her words instantly ignited the crowd.

"Hey! What the hell do you mean by that?""Exactly! You own this store or something? Acting like you're queen of the place!"

Su Nian hurried forward, trying to defuse the situation:

"I'm so sorry, everyone! I apologize on behalf of my sister.""Please don't be angry—she has a fiery temper, that's all. I hope you'll all be understanding…"

Ye Nan dragged Su Nian back and shot Su Wanwan a vicious glare."You're still defending her? Nian Nian, can't you see? This woman has no sense of gratitude!"

He had dated Su Wanwan for two years, and he believed he knew her well—cold, emotionless.Even when they broke up, she hadn't shown the slightest sadness or regret. That could only mean one thing—she had a whole reserve of backup lovers, enough to keep her indifferent no matter who she lost.

The bystanders nodded in agreement:

"Well, since the second Miss has spoken, of course, we'll give her some face.""Exactly!""We're not going to stoop to the level of this country bumpkin."

As the atmosphere grew more tense, a staff member quietly placed a call to the manager.

A glint of ice flickered in Fu Liangmu's eyes, a subtle chill rippling through him like an undercurrent.Lowering his head, he looked down at the delicate face in his arms and asked calmly:"Which one caught your eye?"

Su Wanwan pointed at the bracelet Su Nian had snatched earlier.

Su Nian lifted it deliberately and smiled faintly:"Sister, I wasn't trying to take it from you. This bracelet was always meant to be my gift to you.""Besides, this kind of obscure brand doesn't suit me anyway."

Such a cheap trinket—utterly beneath her status.

"Nan-ge, go pay for it, will you?"

Ye Nan was visibly displeased, but since Su Nian had said as much, it would be unseemly to contradict her in public.

Fu Liangmu glanced at the price tag and said:"Five hundred thousand."

Ye Nan halted mid-step, staring at him in surprise. The bracelet cost no more than fifty thousand. This man had just raised the price tenfold without so much as blinking?

"Nan-ge…" Su Nian called out sweetly, biting her lip, her eyes filled with reluctant hesitation. So many people had heard her just now—backing out now would be humiliating.Ye Nan understood this well. He gritted his teeth and said:"Six hundred thousand."

Fu Liangmu responded, indifferent:"One million."

The scene suddenly turned into a miniature auction, drawing an even bigger crowd.

"One million one hundred thousand!"

Fu Liangmu clearly had no interest in dragging this out:"Two million."

Ye Nan nearly choked on his own rage. Two million—he could afford it, sure. But the problem was, the bracelet wouldn't even go to Su Nian—it was meant for Su Wanwan!

He didn't want to spend that kind of money on a woman who had given him nothing in return.

Su Nian, seeing Ye Nan hesitate, grew anxious:"Nan-ge!"

Ye Nan clenched his teeth and shouted:"Two million five hundred thousand!"

A faint smile tugged at the corner of Fu Liangmu's lips—barely noticeable, seen only by Su Wanwan.

When he didn't raise the bid again, Ye Nan let out a quiet sigh of relief.

As he swiped his card, he couldn't resist sneering:"I thought you were something special, but it seems you're nothing after all."

Su Nian puffed up with pride and added smugly:"Nan-ge, you're the best!"

She then cast a mocking glance at Su Wanwan.

Just then, a man in a suit squeezed through the onlookers, grinning.

A staff member immediately called out:"Manager!"

The manager nodded, glanced in Fu Liangmu's direction, and his smile took on a noticeable trace of deference.

Then he turned and said,"Miss Su, please leave."

Su Nian barely managed to suppress her triumphant grin and began to explain:"Manager, you must've heard what happened. We've resolved everything.""My sister didn't mean what she said. It's probably her first time in such a high-end place, so she—"

The manager cut her off, face expressionless."Apologies. I meant you, Miss Su Nian.""And you as well, Mr. Ye."

Su Nian froze. The crowd rubbed their ears, thinking they must've misheard.

Ye Nan's face darkened. He shouted:"What do you mean by that?""I just spent a fortune in your store!""Is this how you treat your customers?""Who gave you the right to throw us out?""Where's your boss? Call your boss! I want to file a complaint!"

The manager walked over to Fu Liangmu, bowed respectfully, and said:"Sir."

Ye Nan: "…"

This store… belongs to him?!

So everything that had just happened—

His two and a half million!

Realization hit Ye Nan like a sledgehammer. Rage flooded his chest.

He had been thoroughly, mercilessly played by Fu Liangmu.
