Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Power of the Undead Attribute

Outside the Heaven Dou City.

Amidst the bustling crowd, a carriage was speeding towards the northern border.

Inside the carriage.

"Little Fengzi, follow my instructions. Slowly summon your Martial Soul, then try to guide that power."

"Alright."

Gu Feng took a deep breath, his Soul Power surging and churning around him as he gradually summoned his Martial Soul, the Bone Dragon.

An ancient and profound aura spread throughout the space. The Bone Dragon, entirely composed of stark white bones, had hollow eye sockets that flickered with an eerie light.

Streams of gray mist seeped out from the gaps between the dragon's bones, filling the carriage with a chilling, icy aura.

The potted plants inside the carriage withered almost instantly upon contact with the mist, as if their life force had been drained away.

This was the Undead Attribute of the Bone Dragon, the very power that Gu Rong considered the most uncontrollable.

Unlike Fallen Soul Masters or Martial Souls that inherently required bloodthirsty cultivation, the Bone Dragon was inherently more sinister.

As a creature of death, the Bone Dragon's Undead Attribute lacked a proper vessel. Once harnessed by its host, it not only became difficult to control but also had the potential to erode the host's mind.

However, if one could master this power, they would gain unparalleled divine strength.

Take, for example, Ghost Douluo Guimei from the Spirit Hall. His Martial Soul was originally just an ordinary ghost flame. But due to a near-death experience, he managed to comprehend and harness this power at the intersection of life and death. His ghost flame fused with his soul, transforming into a Ghost Martial Soul.

As a result, Guimei achieved the rank of a 95th-level Titled Douluo!

Of course, the faint Undead Attribute of the Ghost Martial Soul couldn't compare to that of the Bone Dragon. The two were on completely different levels.

This was also why Guimei could master it, while Gu Rong could not.

It was precisely because the Bone Dragon's Undead Attribute was so immense and difficult to control that Gu Rong opposed Gu Feng's attempt to specialize in the Undead Attribute path.

However, in Electrolux's eyes, this power was the perfect embodiment of a natural-born Undead Mage.

Others who wished to cultivate Undead Magic would fear incompatibility with the Undead Attribute.

The power of the Undead Attribute was in no way inferior to the sacred attribute of the Six-Winged Angel.

In fact, the two could be said to be on equal footing.

Just like the relationship between light and darkness.

If one could master this power, the Bone Dragon's strength would rival that of any God-level Martial Soul.

Gu Feng nervously manipulated the power, beads of cold sweat forming on his forehead as he asked, "Old Yi, what should I do now?"

"First, try to feel this power, then gradually attempt to see if you can control it."

"Alright."

Following Electrolux's instructions, Gu Feng took a deep breath and directly plunged his hand into the surging gray mist.

At first, he only felt a faint, almost imperceptible chill at his fingertips. But then, tiny streams of mist, like hungry leeches, began to frantically seep into his body through the skin of his fingers.

A bone-chilling sensation instantly spread through his meridians, despite it being the height of summer with the sun blazing overhead.

"Ugh—"

Gu Feng felt as if he had been thrown into an ice cellar, unable to suppress a shiver.

In the next moment, a flood of negative emotions—rage, fear, despair, and endless howls—rushed into his mind like a tidal wave.

In his mental world, terrifying illusions began to unfold one after another.

Gu Feng watched helplessly as his grandfather slowly collapsed before him, bones shattered and life extinguished.

Rong Rong's flower-like face lost all color, her fragrant life snuffed out. Uncle Ning's broad body thudded to the ground, silent forever. Grandpa Jian's sword-wielding hand fell limp, the broken blade clattering to the floor.

Each scene of death struck his heart like a heavy hammer.

Outside, Gu Feng's body trembled violently, his eyes turning blood-red with rage. He gasped for breath, teeth grinding audibly. "Just a mere Martial Soul, daring to try and control my body!"

"Do you think you can control me?"

Gu Feng bit his tongue, trying to force himself to calm down. Then he began silently reciting the Taoist calming mantra from his past life:

"The Great Supreme Star, responding without pause."

"Expelling evil, binding demons, protecting life and body."

"Wisdom bright and pure, mind and spirit at peace."

"Three souls eternal, seven spirits unbroken."

Gu Feng tried this as a last resort, but miraculously, after some time, he actually felt his body warming up and his mind growing increasingly calm and empty.

Finally, after who knows how long.

The terrifying scene before Gu Feng suddenly changed. He found himself still inside the carriage, seemingly unchanged.

For a moment, he thought everything he had just experienced was just a horrible nightmare.

However, the metallic taste at the corner of his mouth caught his attention. He instinctively touched his lips, his fingertips stained with bright red blood from biting his tongue earlier.

Just then, Electrolux's voice of admiration came from the Soul Guidance Ring: "Little Fengzi, well done. For your first experience with the Undead Attribute, you did quite well. Although you didn't fully control it, it's enough for now."

"Next, you just need to slowly adapt to it."

"Now you can try the power of this force."

Hearing this, Gu Feng extended his right hand, and a stream of Undead Airflow instantly attached to his palm.

It was clear that unlike the initial violent and uncontrollable state, the Undead Airflow now was gentle, clinging to his hand like an ordinary, calm stream of air.

But upon closer inspection, one would notice that this power only appeared calm on Gu Feng's hand. Everything around it was slowly being eroded.

Gu Feng looked at a piece of pig iron on the table and slapped it with his palm.

The next second.

Gu Feng inhaled sharply: "Hiss!"

The scene before him was truly unbelievable, utterly astonishing.

The surface of the pig iron showed no reaction, but its internal substance was continuously shrinking and turning black.

In just a few breaths, the pig iron had turned into a piece of pitch-black scrap.

Gu Feng gently pinched it, and it instantly turned to powder, scattering in the wind.

As if life had been stolen by the undead.

The horror of it was simply terrifying!

A slight smile curled at the corner of Gu Feng's mouth, revealing a sense of satisfaction.

This Undead Attribute was like enchanting his hand.

While others' attacks directly targeted the exterior, having to consider whether they could break through defenses.

Gu Feng's attacks bypassed the surface, directly assaulting the interior, starting to decay and devour vitality from within.

It's worth noting that Gu Feng had not yet fully mastered 100% of his Undead Attribute.

Moreover, this Undead Attribute would grow stronger as his level increased.

For a moment, Gu Feng could hardly imagine it.

If he were to reach level 99, how powerful would this Undead power become?

Could it snatch away the life force of an entire city in an instant?

A glimmer shone in Gu Feng's eyes, and a sense of unparalleled glory surged within him.

"Grandfather, time will prove you wrong. One day, I will become the Undead Scourge and reign supreme over the world!"

"The unbearable vacancy of the heavenly throne on the Douluo Continent must come to an end. When that day comes, I will stand above all!"
