"Ah! Mr. Garp, that's my phone. I bought it myself. If you want one, I can get you one tomorrow," Bogard said awkwardly.
But Garp didn't care in the slightest. "This old man's just taking a look. What, you think I won't give it back?"
"..." Bogard was speechless.
Garp chuckled, put down the senbei he'd stopped eating, and started tapping away on the phone. "You said it was fun, so I'll give it a try too."
He opened TikTok.
The familiar music note logo popped up, followed immediately by a stunning woman in black stockings, showing off long, slender white legs. The sheer silk shimmered subtly, just revealing enough to make it impossible to look away.
Pfft!!! Garp's eyes went wide. "Bogard, who the hell is this?!"
"This... this, this..." Bogard instantly turned bright red, practically steaming from the ears.
"I didn't expect you to be into this kinda stuff. You're always so stoic. I thought you liked men," Garp teased shamelessly.
Bogard wished the earth would just swallow him whole. "Uh, Mr. Garp, I..."
"Alright, alright. No need to explain. This old man's seen it all. What don't I understand?" Garp said with a dismissive wave and a grin.
He swiped again.
Another video appeared—another beauty, her skin flawless and pale, bouncing big white mounds barely contained by a tight JK uniform. With twin pigtails and energetic moves.
[Are you ready?]
[Let's set off together!]
The upbeat music and the girl's soft, playful voice made Bogard feel like he was being roasted alive.
"Heh, let's set off, let's set off. This old man likes—uh, I mean... this old man is relieved about you, Bogard," Garp said seriously.
Relieved about me?! How is that worse than just saying you liked it?!
Garp chuckled, not even bothering to look up, and casually waved a hand. "Bogard, I'm kinda tired today. Think I'll rest early. If there's nothing else, you can head out."
Bogard stared longingly at the phone.
They had agreed he'd just play for a little while, but Garp was already completely sucked in. It wasn't about the money. It was about the top-tier content he had spent days collecting, now lost to the void.
"Mr. Garp, am I really leaving?" Bogard asked reluctantly.
"Go on," Garp said, not even blinking, eyes glued to the screen.
Bogard sighed deeply and turned to leave, his heart full of pain.
This phone… it's not coming back…
....
White Island.
A desolate and silent place, almost entirely abandoned by people. Everything on the island was white—rock, sand, even the sky looked unnaturally pale.
There was no vegetation. The land was bare, lifeless, and completely uninhabitable.
Which made it the perfect hidden base for the Revolutionary Army.
Koala clutched her phone excitedly and knocked on the door to Dragon's office. "Mr. Dragon! Mr. Dragon!"
"Come in," came Dragon's calm, authoritative voice.
Koala pushed the door open and rushed in, cheeks flushed with excitement. She looked ecstatic.
But when she saw Sabo already sitting across from Dragon, she paused. "Huh? Sabo? You're here too?"
Sabo usually trained nonstop during downtime, so it was rare to see him in meetings like this.
"Yeah. Something came up."
Koala nodded in mild surprise, then turned back to Dragon with urgency. "Mr. Dragon! Did you see the livestream just now?"
Dragon shook his head and gestured to Sabo. "Didn't have time. Sabo came to ask me about some techniques." He paused, then added, "What? Something interesting happen? That developer behind the TikTok app really is something. Just making this phone alone is incredible."
He turned the phone over in his hand, clearly impressed.
Whatever other uses it had, just the durability of this thing was insane.
He had even been tempted to take it apart for study.
He'd tried all sorts of tools, but not even a scratch was left on the casing.
"You... you didn't watch it??" Koala was stunned, her expression making Dragon frown slightly. Had he really missed something important?
Koala looked a little regretful.
After watching the stream, she had suddenly remembered she should've recorded it. She never expected to see Luffy of all people appear!
"Mr. Dragon, your son… is his name Luffy? Monkey D. Luffy?" Koala asked tentatively.
"Yes. Why?" Dragon responded calmly.
"What happened to Luffy?" As soon as he heard Luffy's name, Sabo's expression turned serious.
Koala shook her head, then nodded, leaving them both unsure whether Luffy was in danger or not.
"It is Luffy! I saw Luffy in the livestream just now!" Koala finally said clearly.
"Livestream? Luffy showed up in a livestream?" Dragon and Sabo were both stunned. Neither expected Luffy to be involved with something like that.
"It's true!" Koala quickly gave them a full recap, especially the part where Luffy stood tall and shouted, "I'm the man who's going to be the Pirate King!" She even mimicked his expression and voice, making both Dragon and Sabo burst into laughter.
"Hahahaha! That's so like Luffy," Dragon laughed, shaking his head.
Koala was dumbfounded. She had expected worry or concern, but they were just laughing.
"Aren't you worried at all? The whole world probably knows now that Luffy wants to be Pirate King. He's definitely going to be in a lot more danger!"
"Don't worry, Koala," Dragon said gently, a hint of warmth in his voice. "Without setbacks, there's no growth. You have to trust in the conviction of the wind."
Koala wanted to argue, but seeing the firm belief and confidence in their eyes, she held back.
"Also, how's that task I gave you coming along?" Dragon asked calmly, locking eyes with Koala.
