Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: TikTok-style Surveillance (BONUS)

At the same time, Sengoku had also assigned someone specifically to browse TikTok videos every day. The moment someone reported pirate activity, the video would be forwarded directly to the group.

Without him needing to say anything more, the nearest Marine branch would instantly accept the mission and set out to suppress the pirates.

Once the mission was complete, they only needed to send back a video of the takedown to Sengoku to receive a consolation package.

This simple and efficient workflow not only streamlined Marine operations but also gradually reduced the crime rate across the entire Sea.

Some pirates even had to check whether the island's residents had smartphones before launching a robbery.

They were terrified of being filmed, exposed, and hunted down after Sengoku inevitably saw the video and issued a Marine sweep.

This "TikTok-style" surveillance had made pirate life increasingly miserable.

But at the same time, the pirates had also grown more cunning.

Now, they had to guard not only against the Marines but also against rival pirate crews.

There was even an incident involving Pirate A and Pirate B. Pirate A held a grudge against Pirate B, but B's crew was too large and powerful—there was no way A could win a fight.

So what did Pirate A do?

He whipped out his phone, filmed Pirate B's hideouts and routines, and bundled all the footage together.

Then he sent everything straight to Sengoku.

You can guess what happened next. Pirate B's entire crew was obliterated, rounded up by the Marines, and shipped off to a dark cell for permanent "self-reflection."

After this, pirates got smarter.

When pillaging, they began taking bizarre detours, weaving through dozens of locations to throw off potential stalkers and keep their next destination hidden.

Otherwise, the second they arrived at a target island, a whole Marine battalion might jump out.

This kind of cat-and-mouse misery was unimaginable to ordinary people.

"You little bastard!"

Just then, Garp suddenly cursed, his voice full of rage.

The outburst startled Sengoku. He snapped his eyes open and turned to see Garp glaring furiously at his phone, furiously scrolling through the screen.

"What's wrong, Garp? You're gonna scare me into early retirement."

"Hmph! That brat Luffy deserves a good beating! Look at this video!" Garp barked, thrusting his phone in front of Sengoku.

Sengoku took the phone and watched the two new videos Luffy had uploaded.

"I told you long ago to get off your butt and catch your grandson yourself. Make him join the Marines. But no, you insisted he'd grow out of it after messing around for a while," Sengoku said calmly. "Now look at him. He's gone and declared war on a Warlord. I think he really wants to be the Pirate King."

He shrugged, clearly unimpressed. Garp nearly exploded.

"Pirate King, my ass!"

Garp furiously tapped away at his phone, fingers drumming against the screen like he was trying to punch through it.

Sengoku shook his head, not bothering to get worked up over Luffy.

He understood Garp's personalityvand more importantly, he knew Garp understood his grandson better than anyone.

But Sengoku's attention was elsewhere. Specifically, on the blue-haired beauty in the video—Princess Vivi.

He remembered what she had said and couldn't help but feel suspicious.

Was it true or not? If Warlord Crocodile was really trying to overthrow Alabasta, the Marines would be obligated to intervene.

After all, Alabasta was an allied nation under the World Government's protection.

He turned to Garp, who had just finished angrily typing his comment, and said with a serious look, "Garp, how credible do you think that girl's claims are?"

"What girl?!" Garp snapped, still simmering with anger.

Sengoku ignored the attitude, gesturing at the video and pointing to Vivi. "Her. She says she's Princess Vivi of Alabasta. I don't know if Crocodile's really staging a coup."

Garp finally calmed down a bit, realizing this was no longer just a family matter.

He thought for a moment, his tone growing serious. "Wouldn't we know if it's true or not by going there ourselves?"

"Hmph. If I could go, would I be sitting here asking you?" Sengoku grumbled.

"..."

Garp was speechless. Then, like a bolt of inspiration, he slapped his thigh and his eyes lit up.

"That's right! Isn't Smoker already chasing Luffy? He's not far from Alabasta. Just send him to check it out."

Sengoku: ...

Sengoku looked at Garp, speechless. "I feel like you're using this to help your grandson escape."

Garp grinned shamelessly, full of rogue energy. "Got proof? I'm warning you, Sengoku, don't accuse without evidence, you could get sued you know."

His look of "you can't touch me" made Sengoku grind his teeth.

He was so angry he nearly exploded again. Why did he even ask this guy?

But he quickly cooled down. After all, compared to Luffy, the wellbeing of an entire nation was far more important.

He took a deep breath, picked up his phone, and opened the Marine Vice Admiral TikTok group chat. Then he typed:

@:Smoker, urgent directive: Cease pursuit of Luffy. Immediately proceed to Alabasta and investigate Crocodile. Determine if he is involved in an attempt to overthrow the Alabasta royal government.

If confirmed, stop him immediately. If you encounter resistance, report back to Marineford at once!

After sending the message, Sengoku stared at the screen quietly. New messages quickly rolled in:

"Fleet Admiral Sengoku posted another mission!"

"How much is the reward? 1,000 Berries? 10,000?"

"Forget it, it's an exclusive mission. We don't even get to touch it."

Sengoku ignored the chatter, watching and waiting.

Minutes ticked by. The only sound was the crash of waves outside the window. Garp, too, had gone quiet, understanding the weight of the situation. Even he had to admit that Sengoku's decision was the right one.

Finally, after seven or eight minutes, Smoker replied: Received, Fleet Admiral Sengoku. I'll head to Alabasta immediately! (😁)

Sengoku nodded slightly, satisfied.

He knew that while Smoker held a personal grudge against Luffy, when duty called, he would carry out his orders without hesitation.

Garp also breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't say it out loud, but he knew, this mission was far more important than chasing after Luffy.

The two of them exchanged a glance, then looked out at the sea together, as if trying to catch a glimpse of distant Alabasta.
