Synopsis
Formerly known as the "Strongest Mortal," Arakami Ren's life ends in a pool of blood -- betrayed by the student he raised as his own. Broken, defeated, and now left for dead on the edge of a cliff, this should be where Ren's story ends. This is where fate tries to change course. In the infinite void of the afterlife, a divine figure gives Ren a choice: He can return to life one hundred years into the future as the youngest prince of the very kingdom that branded him a tool of war, possessing immense power that no mortal has ever known. His mission is to dismantle a shadowy organization established by his former student that will thrust the world into chaos. With a limited recollection of his past life, Ren must navigate a world influenced by the repercussions of his failure, confront those who see him as an obstacle, and determine who he will be as a guardian, warrior, and man. Can a soul filled with regret rewrite its destiny, or merely be condemned to repeat history? NOTE: This is the very first story I made, so please overlook my mistakes. If you have any tips or suggestions, please leave them down in the comments. I would be more than happy to read them!

Chapter 1 - The Fall and Rise of the Strongest Mortal

In one rainy day a man, an old one is shown to be kneeling at the edge of the cliff and even with the assistance of his sword, he still is unable to stand up. The man was covered in blood, his injuries severe enough to make him collapse at any moment.

The man looks straight to see another man approaching him, it was the person attempting to kill him, his sword covered in crimson blood and his face it was calm..too calm. The man that was doing this was his student.

His student sneered, stepping closer.

"You've gotten weak, old man. Back then, they called you the "Strongest Mortal", but now you can't even swing a sword without your body on the brink of collapsing."

His student walks up to him standing there in front of him menacingly.

"Even I was surprised when you were able to go an hour clashing swords with me without your body giving up."

His student points his blade at him with no hesitation, like he had a grudge towards his own teacher.

The man looks up to meet his student's cold gaze then quickly looks down.

"How surprising, my own student betraying me just because of some orders from the Royal Capital."

His student grits his teeth, angrier than ever before as he grabs his teacher's hair to force him to look at him.

"Listen here old man, I am a free man. Why should I follow you nor the Royal Capital?"

"In my eyes they are just stepping stones for me to reach the pinnacle of power."

The man looking at his own student with shame and regret.

"I'm sorry."

His student's eyes widen up, surprised by the sudden apology from his master who was usually cold.

"I'm sorry that I couldn't show you the warmth of having a guardian, I'm sorry that you didn't have someone to lean on during your lowest, I'm sorry that even when you were doing your best I was dissatisfied."

"I was a greedy man back then, prioritizing to unlocking the potential of my students than actually show them even an ounce of my role as a guardian."

His student let go of his hair, just standing there in front of him no idea what to do. After a few moments of silence his student speaks up.

"Goodness old man."

"Was that supposed to make me cry?"

The man chuckles.

"At least you still remember what I taught you."

"Since you're beyond change, are you gonna kill me now?"

The man looks up to once again meet his student's cold gaze.

"You've said your piece."

His student positions himself lifting up his blade, preparing to slice his teacher's head off.

"I'll grant you a death without pain."

In one swift movement his student slices off his teacher's head. His head falling towards the cliff.

"He's still got it even if he hasn't picked up a sword in years."

His student looking down at his head falling over the cliff

"Even if he became the incarnation of wrath, I don't mind dying like this."

"Maybe I can meet him again as well, in hell."

As the man loses his vision he sees a black void, but his body is intact. He inspects his body and comes up with the conclusion that this was his body during his prime.

"Is this hell?"

The man walks slowly, going deeper and deeper in the seamlessly never ending void.

Overtime as the man goes on even deeper he starts to lose hope that there even is something in this void, fatigued he falls down gasping for air.

"Dying once again for the 2nd time? Were my actions that bad that even hell didn't want me?"

The man laughs as his vision starts to disappear once again, he looks straight to see what was awaiting him before he dies again and he sees a light, a small light just there.

The light then becomes a figure, a figure similar to the mortal body.

"Test, test, test. Alright it works!"

"Ah right."

The figure walks slowly to the man and crouches in front of him.

"You're Arakami Ren, I assume?"

Ren just stays there not saying nor doing anything, he was too fatigued to do even simple actions.

"Oh right my bad."

The figure then lays his hand on Ren's head removing his fatigue.

Ren stands up, backing away from the figure.

"W-Who are you? How did you do that?!"

The figure laughs, standing up as well.

"I am the creator of the lower-realm, or what you call the universe."

"You were sent here by the King of our realm, the upper-realm."

Ren looks at the figure, fully not trusting him.

"Why was I sent here?"

The figure then replies.

"The King of the upper-realm has a proposal for you."

Ren's eyes widen, his interest piqued.

"How do I know that this king of yours is sure to keep his word?"

The figure then frowns a bit, somewhat mad that Ren disrespected the King of his realm. Facing back.

"If you don't believe in him you can just refuse the offer and continue to just being dead."

Ren then replies.

"Fine, tell me his proposal. I'm dead anyways, so I'll listen for now."

The figure grinned then quickly faces back to Ren.

"In a few years…from now your student will create an organization to take over the world, and in 120 years from now their organization will soon attack and complete their goal in taking over the world."

"The King's proposal is that you will be reincarnated 100 years in the future as the youngest prince of the Royal Capital."

"In addition to that since people from the upper-realm can't intervene with the people of the lower-realm according to the rules of balance we will give you talent that exceeds even yourself."

Ren's eyes widen, he thought if he takes this offer he can even surpass his prime.

"So, my goal is to defeat everyone from the organization that my own student made in the span of 20 years?"

The figure nods his head.

"Well your goal is to defeat everyone from the organization, but the time period of the attack is unknown."

"Since if you go to the world 100 years in the future there are things that can be altered, one of them is also the time period of the organization's attack."

"So, with that in mind will you accept the proposal?"

Ren looks down thinking for a while then looks straight back at the figure.

"Alright, I'll accept your King's proposal."

The figure chuckles.

"Perfect, I'll get you started right now."

The figure claps his hand.

Ren's vision starts to fade once again.

"Oh, and during reincarnation your mortal body right now should die so that your soul can move on to another body, good luck!"

The figure waves.

Ren's vision fades fully, after a while his eyes starts to open seeing the outside world once again.

Ren then looks around to see that he's in a crib in a boy's room. He then looks at his own body and sees that his limbs are shorter than usual.

"Am I..a baby?" Ren thought.
