Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 Echoes of Tomorrow

The pressure disappeared instantly.

The sky stabilized again.

Silence.

Heavy.

But not empty.

Rose smiled through the tears she hadn't realized were falling.

"...okay."

She took a slow breath.

"...that's enough for today."

Mile watched her carefully.

"...you did it."

Rose looked at her and gave a small smile.

"...we did it."

I looked toward the clear sky.

"...he spoke."

A quiet pause.

"...and he stopped himself before the system became unstable."

No one answered.

There was nothing to add.

The proof had already happened.

🌅 THE FIRST MORNING OF PEACE

The next morning arrived gently.

For the first time in what felt like forever...

There were no explosions.

No screams.

No collapsing walls.

Only sunlight spilling across the palace courtyard.

Servants cautiously returned to their work.

Soldiers began clearing rubble.

Children who had been hiding in underground shelters stepped outside, staring at the blue sky as if seeing it for the first time.

The kingdom had survived.

But everyone carried invisible scars.

Rose stood on a balcony overlooking the courtyard.

Workers were rebuilding broken stairs.

Blacksmiths repaired damaged armor.

Gardeners planted flowers where fire had burned the earth.

Life...

Was trying again.

"...You saved all of this," she whispered toward the wind.

A warm breeze answered.

Just enough to move a strand of her hair.

A tiny smile appeared on her face.

"...I know."

⚔️ TRAINING RETURNS

Behind the palace...

Tina was already sparring with several royal knights.

"Again!" she shouted.

One knight rushed forward.

She sidestepped.

Twisted.

Tapped his shoulder with the flat of her blade.

"You're out."

The knight sighed dramatically.

"I didn't even see you move."

Tina grinned.

"Exactly."

The other soldiers laughed.

For the first time...

It sounded genuine.

Rose watched from above.

It felt good hearing laughter again.

☠️ MILE NEVER STOPS SEARCHING

Unlike everyone else...

Mile wasn't celebrating.

She sat inside the rebuilt archive surrounded by books and ancient scrolls.

Every answer they had uncovered had created three new questions.

She spread several old maps across a table.

"...The cycle is gone..."

She tapped one location.

"...so why are these symbols still glowing?"

The markings hadn't disappeared.

If anything...

They were becoming brighter.

She frowned.

"...Something's still awake."

👻 A DISTURBANCE

I was walking along the palace walls when I stopped.

Something felt...

Wrong.

Not dangerous.

Not hostile.

Just...

Unfamiliar.

Like another heartbeat inside the world's rhythm.

I closed my eyes.

There.

Far to the north.

A pulse.

Once.

Then gone.

"...Interesting."

👑 THE GARDEN

Later that evening...

Rose walked alone into the royal gardens.

Many flowers had burned during the battle.

Yet new blossoms were already appearing between the ashes.

Nature refused to surrender.

She liked that.

It reminded her of someone.

She sat beneath an old tree.

"...Do you remember this place?"

The leaves rustled.

"We came here after training once..."

She laughed quietly.

"I complained because Tina beat me."

Somewhere across the palace...

A loud voice echoed.

"I HEARD THAT!"

Rose couldn't help laughing.

"You always hear everything."

Tina shouted back from somewhere unseen.

"I HAVE GREAT HEARING!"

Rose shook her head.

"...She's impossible."

A warm breeze circled the tree.

Almost amused.

🍃 THE WIND PLAYS ALONG

A single white flower drifted from the branches above.

It landed softly in Rose's lap.

She looked at it.

"...Was that you?"

The breeze circled once.

Gentle.

Playful.

"...You're getting better."

🌌 THE DREAM

That night...

Rose dreamed.

She wasn't standing in the palace.

Or the void.

Or the battlefield.

She stood inside an endless field beneath countless stars.

Everything was peaceful.

No ruins.

No war.

No pain.

Only silence.

She looked around slowly.

"...Hello?"

No answer.

She began walking.

The grass shimmered beneath her feet.

Then...

Footsteps.

Not hers.

Someone else's.

She turned quickly.

Nothing.

"...I know you're here."

The stars above flickered softly.

A familiar warmth surrounded her.

Not enough to see.

Enough to feel.

She smiled.

"...You're terrible at hiding."

A quiet laugh echoed somewhere nearby.

Not loud.

Barely more than a whisper.

But unmistakably...

His.

Rose froze.

"...Do that again."

Silence.

Then...

Another laugh.

Softer.

Warmer.

Real.

Her eyes filled with tears.

"...I missed that."

✨ A SHADOW OF LIGHT

Ahead of her...

Golden particles gathered together.

Not enough to become a person.

Just enough to become a silhouette.

He stood several steps away.

Still blurry.

Still unfinished.

But closer than before.

"...Can you hear me?" Rose asked.

The silhouette nodded.

Very slightly.

Her heart almost stopped.

"You can..."

She took one careful step.

The figure remained where it was.

She stopped herself.

"No."

She smiled sadly.

"I promised I wouldn't push."

The figure seemed to relax.

As if grateful.

🕊️ THE FIRST CONVERSATION

"...Are you alright?"

The silhouette hesitated.

Then...

Very slowly...

It raised one hand.

A thumbs-up.

Rose laughed through her tears.

"That's such a terrible answer."

The figure shrugged.

Even without a face...

She knew exactly what expression he was making.

"You really haven't changed."

The silhouette tilted its head.

Then pointed upward.

Toward the stars.

Rose looked.

Thousands of stars shone brighter than before.

"...You're watching over everything?"

A slow nod.

"...Is it hard?"

The figure didn't answer immediately.

Instead...

Several stars dimmed.

Then brightened again.

Like breathing.

Rose understood.

"...You can't leave them."

Another nod.

💔 THE DISTANCE REMAINS

"I wish I could help."

The silhouette reached toward her.

Stopped halfway.

Its fingers trembled.

The space between them shimmered.

Too unstable.

Too dangerous.

Slowly...

It lowered its hand again.

Rose mirrored the movement.

"...Not yet."

The silhouette nodded.

🌠 THE MESSAGE

Suddenly...

The stars above rearranged themselves.

Not randomly.

Deliberately.

They formed a single symbol.

One Rose recognized.

It was the ancient crest carved onto the original Sword of Rajput.

"...Why are you showing me this?"

The dream began shaking.

The stars flickered violently.

The silhouette looked upward.

Its posture changed instantly.

Alert.

Concerned.

⚠️ SOMETHING ELSE IS THERE

The peaceful sky darkened.

Not everywhere.

Only in one corner.

A shadow spread across several stars.

The silhouette stepped in front of Rose immediately.

Protective.

She frowned.

"...What is it?"

The silhouette pointed toward the darkness.

Then quickly back toward her.

Then shook its head.

"No?"

It nodded urgently.

"...Don't go there?"

Another nod.

The darkness moved.

Not quickly.

Patiently.

Watching.

Then—

It vanished.

The stars returned to normal.

The silhouette looked relieved.

🌅 AWAKENING

Rose sat upright in bed.

Breathing heavily.

Morning sunlight streamed through her window.

"It was... a dream."

She touched her chest.

The warmth was still there.

No.

Not just a dream.

A meeting.

She looked toward the open window.

The breeze entered the room.

Gentle.

Familiar.

"...Thank you."

Outside...

A single golden feather drifted past the window before dissolving into light.

Rose smiled.

"...I'll figure out what you were trying to tell me."

Far away...

Where the northern mountains touched the sky...

Something unseen opened its eyes.

Watching the kingdom in silence.

Waiting.

The northern mountains.

Something unseen opened its eyes.

Watching the kingdom in silence.

Waiting.

The wind stopped.

Not just around the mountain.

Across the entire kingdom.

Birds suddenly abandoned the sky.

The forests became unnaturally quiet.

Even the rivers seemed to slow.

It lasted only three seconds.

Then everything returned to normal.

Most people never noticed.

But four people did.

Rose.

Tina.

Mile.

And me.

🌄 THE SAME MOMENT

Rose was still standing by her bedroom window.

The golden feather had already dissolved into light.

She was thinking about the dream.

About the stars.

About the warning.

Then...

The warmth she had been feeling since the war vanished.

Just for a heartbeat.

Her eyes widened.

"...No."

It returned immediately.

Weak.

But there.

She placed a hand over her chest.

"What was that?"

Across the palace...

Tina was training in the courtyard.

Her sword froze halfway through a swing.

Every instinct she had developed through years of battle screamed the same warning.

Enemy.

She slowly lowered her blade.

"...Who?"

There was no answer.

Only an uneasy feeling.

Inside the royal archives...

Mile looked up from an ancient scroll.

Several candles around her flickered at the exact same time.

Not because of wind.

Because of pressure.

She immediately grabbed another book.

"No..."

She whispered.

"It can't be."

On the palace wall...

I looked north.

Straight toward the mountains.

"...So you've finally woken up."

👑 A MEETING IS CALLED

Less than an hour later...

The four of us gathered inside a small strategy room.

No servants.

No guards.

No generals.

Only those who had seen the truth behind the cycle.

Rose looked around first.

"...You all felt it too."

Tina nodded immediately.

"I've had that feeling before."

"When?"

"Right before battles."

Silence.

Mile spread several maps across the table.

"I've been comparing the old kingdom maps with the newest surveys."

She pointed toward the northern border.

"There."

Rose leaned closer.

"...There's nothing there."

"Exactly."

Mile looked directly at her.

"There should be."

🗺️ THE MISSING MOUNTAIN

Mile unfolded another map.

This one looked ancient.

Its edges were worn.

Its ink faded.

But one thing stood out immediately.

A massive mountain range.

Right where modern maps showed...

Nothing.

Tina frowned.

"...Did someone draw the old map wrong?"

"No."

Mile placed a second ancient map beside it.

Then a third.

Then a fourth.

Every single one showed the same mountain.

Rose slowly looked between them.

"...Then where did it go?"

I answered quietly.

"It didn't disappear."

Everyone looked toward me.

"It was hidden."

🌑 THE FORGOTTEN PLACE

Mile nodded slowly.

"I think so too."

She opened another old journal.

"This journal belonged to one of the royal historians."

She carefully read a faded sentence.

'When the First Rose shattered destiny, the Gate of the North was erased from memory, so no future generation would awaken what slept beneath the mountain.'

Silence filled the room.

Rose spoke first.

"...The First Rose hid an entire mountain?"

"Apparently."

⚔️ TINA'S QUESTION

"...Okay."

Tina crossed her arms.

"I have a much bigger question."

Everyone looked at her.

"If she hid it..."

She pointed north.

"...then what exactly is sleeping there?"

No one answered immediately.

Because none of us knew.

🌬️ THE WIND RETURNS

The open window suddenly filled with warm air.

Not strong.

Gentle.

Rose immediately turned toward it.

"...You're here."

The breeze circled the room once.

It stopped over the northern section of the map.

Then faded.

Tina blinked.

"...Did he just..."

Mile finished the sentence.

"...point."

👑 ROSE UNDERSTANDS

She smiled faintly.

"...You want us to go there."

The breeze returned briefly.

One soft circle.

Then gone.

"...I'll take that as yes."

📜 THE HIDDEN LETTER

As everyone prepared to leave, Mile noticed something unusual.

One page in the historian's journal was thicker than the others.

She carefully separated it.

A folded letter slid onto the table.

Its seal...

Matched the symbol Rose had seen among the stars.

The crest of the original Sword of Rajput.

Rose carefully opened it.

The handwriting was elegant.

Ancient.

The ink somehow remained untouched by time.

She began reading aloud.

To the one who carries the Sword after me...

If you are reading this, then I have failed.

The room became completely silent.

I hoped no one would ever find this place again.

I hoped the sacrifice would be enough.

I hoped history would finally be free.

Rose swallowed.

But hope alone cannot imprison truth forever.

The next line made everyone freeze.

The cycle was never my greatest mistake.

Leaving the Keeper alive was.

Tina looked up immediately.

"...Keeper?"

Mile quickly searched through another book.

Nothing.

No mention.

Rose continued reading.

He does not serve the Sword.

He does not serve the kingdom.

He serves only balance.

If the world changes too much...

He will restore it.

My expression darkened.

"...That explains the feeling."

Rose looked toward me.

"You know what this means?"

"I know enough."

🌑 THE KEEPER

"The old system is gone," I said quietly.

"So balance created something new."

Mile nodded.

"A replacement."

Tina frowned.

"...So now we have another enemy?"

"No."

I looked toward the north again.

"Worse."

Rose's voice was barely above a whisper.

"...Someone who believes they're saving the world."

⚠️ THE LETTER CONTINUES

Rose looked back at the page.

Her heartbeat had become noticeably faster.

If he awakens...

Do not fight him with anger.

He feeds upon certainty.

He defeats those who believe they are absolutely right.

Tina scratched her head.

"...What does that even mean?"

Mile answered quietly.

"It means he'll exploit our convictions."

Rose continued.

Trust one another.

Because no one defeats the Keeper alone.

The final sentence was written differently.

The ink looked darker.

As though the writer's hand had been shaking.

And if he speaks your name...

Do not answer.

Silence.

No one moved.

No one spoke.

The room suddenly felt colder.

🌌 THE SAME VOICE

Outside...

Far beyond the kingdom...

The hidden mountain emerged from mist for the first time in centuries.

Snow slid silently down its cliffs.

Ancient stone gates trembled.

A pair of enormous doors...

Began opening.

Very slowly.

Inside the darkness...

A calm voice echoed.

Neither evil.

Nor kind.

Simply ancient.

"...So."

A long pause.

"...Another Rose has arrived."

The mountain shook.

Dust drifted from the ceiling.

The unseen figure stood.

For the first time in hundreds of years.

"...Let us see..."

Another pause.

"...whether this one chooses differently."

"...whether this one chooses differently."

The voice disappeared into the darkness.

But the mountain remembered it.

The enormous stone doors continued opening with a deep, ancient groan that echoed through the empty halls beyond.

Dust, untouched for centuries, drifted through shafts of pale light.

The silence inside wasn't peaceful.

It was waiting.

Deep beneath the mountain...

Thousands of stone statues lined a corridor so vast that the end couldn't be seen.

Each statue wore armor from a different era.

Kings.

Queens.

Warriors.

Scholars.

Children.

Every face carried the same expression.

Not fear.

Acceptance.

As though each had willingly stood there.

As though each had chosen to become stone.

At the very end of the corridor...

A lone figure stood before an enormous circular gate covered in golden symbols.

He wore a long white cloak embroidered with faded silver threads.

His dark hair reached his shoulders.

His face looked no older than twenty-five.

But his eyes...

His eyes held centuries.

He slowly lifted one hand and touched the ancient gate.

The symbols began glowing one by one.

"I can feel it..."

His calm voice echoed through the chamber.

"The cycle has truly ended."

For the first time in hundreds of years...

He smiled.

Not happily.

Not cruelly.

Simply knowingly.

"And now..."

He closed his eyes.

"I must restore balance."

THE PALACE

Far away...

Rose carefully folded the ancient letter.

No one spoke.

The words—

If he speaks your name... do not answer.

—remained trapped inside everyone's thoughts.

Tina finally broke the silence.

"I officially don't like mysterious letters anymore."

Rose couldn't help smiling a little.

"I don't think anyone does."

Even Mile's lips curved into a faint smile.

For a brief moment...

The room felt lighter.

Then—

Knock.

Knock.

Knock.

A palace guard hurried inside.

"Princess Rose."

He bowed respectfully.

"The northern watchtower has sent an urgent report."

Rose immediately stood.

"What happened?"

The guard swallowed.

"Something has appeared beyond the mountains."

THE WATCHTOWER

An hour later...

The four of them stood atop the highest tower in the kingdom.

The northern wind blew gently across the stone walls.

Soldiers lined the battlements, pointing toward the horizon.

Rose followed their gaze.

At first...

She saw nothing.

Just endless mountains beneath drifting clouds.

Then...

The clouds moved.

Not naturally.

They separated.

Revealing something hidden behind them.

A mountain.

Massive.

Impossible.

Its snow-covered peak rose far above every other mountain in the range.

Ancient stone stairways spiraled around its cliffs.

Ruined temples clung to its sides.

Golden rivers of light flowed beneath the ice.

Tina stared with her mouth slightly open.

"...That definitely wasn't there yesterday."

"No," Mile whispered.

"It wasn't."

Rose's heart began beating faster.

The warmth inside her chest returned.

Not painful.

Not urgent.

Gentle.

Like someone quietly trying to get her attention.

She placed her hand over her heart.

"...You knew."

The breeze circled around her.

One slow circle.

Then disappeared.

I stepped beside her.

"He's warning you."

Rose looked toward me.

"Or guiding me."

I nodded.

"...Maybe both."

THE COUNCIL GATHERS

News spread quickly.

Within two hours...

The royal council assembled inside the throne room.

Generals.

Ministers.

Scholars.

Village elders.

Everyone wanted answers.

An elderly general struck the table with his fist.

"We should send the army."

Another minister immediately disagreed.

"We don't even know what we're facing."

A scholar adjusted his glasses nervously.

"What if the mountain is sacred?"

The arguments filled the room.

Louder.

Sharper.

More chaotic.

Rose listened quietly.

Then she stood.

The room fell silent.

"No army."

Several ministers looked shocked.

"But Princess—"

Rose raised one hand.

"If the First Rose hid that mountain..."

She looked around the room.

"...then sending thousands of soldiers into a place we don't understand would be reckless."

Silence followed.

Then Mile spoke.

"I agree."

Tina folded her arms.

"So do I."

I simply nodded.

The decision was made.

FOUR PEOPLE

The expedition would consist of only four people.

Rose.

Tina.

Mile.

And me.

No more.

No less.

The kingdom couldn't afford another war.

PREPARATIONS

The next morning...

The palace courtyard buzzed with activity.

Stable hands prepared horses.

Blacksmiths sharpened weapons.

Healers packed medicine.

Rose fastened her sword to her belt.

It felt lighter than before.

Almost...

Comfortable.

She touched the hilt.

"...Ready?"

A faint warmth answered.

She smiled.

"I'll take that as a yes."

Tina walked over carrying far more supplies than anyone expected.

Rose laughed.

"Tina."

"What?"

"Why do you have three bags?"

"...Snacks."

"Three bags?"

"...Different kinds of snacks."

Mile sighed.

"We're traveling to an ancient forbidden mountain."

Tina looked completely serious.

"And we're doing it hungry?"

Even Rose laughed.

For a precious moment...

The weight on everyone's shoulders lifted.

THE JOURNEY BEGINS

By sunrise...

The palace gates opened.

The four of them rode north.

The people of the kingdom gathered along the roads.

No cheering.

No celebrations.

Only quiet hope.

Parents held their children close.

Old soldiers saluted.

Young recruits watched with admiration.

Everyone understood.

This journey wasn't about winning a battle.

It was about preventing one.

Rose looked back only once.

The palace stood proudly beneath the morning sky.

The kingdom looked peaceful.

She silently promised herself—

We'll come back.

THE WATCHER

High above the mountain...

The Keeper stood on a stone balcony overlooking the distant kingdom.

He watched the four riders traveling toward him.

"So."

His expression remained calm.

"You chose to come."

He wasn't surprised.

He had expected this.

He slowly closed his eyes.

"I wonder..."

The wind lifted his cloak.

"...have you learned from those before you?"

Then—

For the briefest moment—

He frowned.

Something...

Touched the edge of his awareness.

A warm presence.

Gentle.

Familiar.

Impossible.

He turned slowly toward the sky.

"...You."

Silence.

Then a faint smile.

"So you've become the new anchor."

He lowered his head respectfully.

"I never expected your sacrifice."

The wind answered him softly.

Almost like a conversation no one else could hear.

The Keeper's smile faded.

"I understand."

A pause.

"But even so..."

He looked toward the approaching riders once more.

"...I must test her."

........................

The journey to the hidden mountain had begun.

And waiting at its summit...

Was not a monster.

Not a tyrant.

But someone who believed that testing Rose was the only way to protect the future.
